Rock Music Community Open to Public

I was invited to this rock music community a while back. At the time, the site was by invite only, but it's now open for anyone to sign up. Here's the site: http://www.allrespect.com/

It's pretty cool and let's you find other people who share your same taste in music. You can also get music news and find others going to the same concert shows. You can even add a little form to your LJ page to compare your visitor's taste in music with your own. I got one on my LJ if you wanna see.

Anyway, I'm rambling... just thought I'd share this with the community! Later.

Greeting

Hi! I'm new for this community. I found it searching punk rock bands. Anyway I want to join here.

My name is Elona but it's not my real name. I'm keen on music. I can sing and play the guitar and the drums.
I've been playing the guitar since 13 (I'm 17 now) and now I'm a singer for one Russian underground band.

I hope I'll enjoy being here coz PUNKS NOT DEAD!

Go to Concerts?

Yo,
Another update for what is becoming one of my frequented sites, www.AllRespect.com. They recently added a new Concerts feature. The idea is for you to find other concert goers who are attending the same concerts and then share videos, mp3s, photos, etc. from that show.

The feature is not really being used, but I think it's a good idea, so I'm helping spread the word here. Anywhere, there are still some more invites left to join the new music community. Here's the link:

Enjoy, folks.

Cool Rock Music Community

Hey all,
I thought you may be interested in this new site, AllRespect.com.

It's a music community for people to find others with the same taste in music (mostly rock/alternative from what I see). You can also create your Music Compatibility Test to add to your LJ for your visitors to check how similar their taste in music is to yours. Check out mine on my journal.

Anyway, the site is still in beta and by invite only. However, they have a couple promotions going on -- one for LJ users (lucky us, eh?):

You can read a bit more about the site (clearer than what I'm explaining) here:

Here's my page if you get bored:

Cheers.

Sum 41 News!

Hi punk fans,

We're Aquarius Records, Sum 41's record label in Canada. We are the country's biggest independent record company (visit http://www.aquariusrecords.com for more), part of the Donald K. Donald Entertainment Group of Labels, which also includes Last Gang Records, Tacca Musique and Indica Records (visit http://www.dkd.com for more).

Just thought we'd give you a bit of a heads up on what's going on with Sum 41 in case you didn't know; there's been and there will be a lot of exciting stuff happening with this band this year!

  • Sum 41's long-awaited 4th album, entitled Underclass Hero, will be released July 24th, 2007! The 1st single, as well as opening track, is "Underclass Hero", and will hit radio airwaves and be available for digital purchasing on May 15th. But you won't have to wait that long for a taste of the new album, because Sum 41 are unveiling a tune called "March of the Dogs" online on the first week of May on iTunes Canada!

    Questions for the club-/gigging-savvy

Oy! (Purposefully spelled with y not i)
I'm a rabid punk fan who just joined this community, for two reasons: 1) I love punk and 2) I'm writing a trilogy about a punk band in London in 1975 and have some music-related questions. The community Little Details, for writers with questions, couldn't help me, so I thought I'd ask you guys.  I hope this isn't inappropriate for this community, and if it is, just let me know and I'll delete it. :)

    Questions:

    I. EQUIPMENT
As said, I'm writing about a punk band. They have very little money, but they need music equipment. I'm a bit of a musician myself, and I have a mixing board, an amp, two monitors, and mics. The monitors plug into the amp; the mics plug into the mixing board.  Other bands I've been in have speakers instead of monitors, however, and seem to have the amp and mixing board combined into one. So I'm just wondering, what's the sort of minimal gear a band in 1975 might have?

    II. DRUMS
About how much would a used but decent drum kit cost, in 1975, in London?

    III. VENUES
This band is beginning to play concerts at different places around London. I'm feeling a bit ignorant about this because I've never been in a punk band playing gigs around London, and I'm wondering: how much equipment would a venue typically have?  Different venues would obviously be very different; any info at all would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
