After talking with each other, we mods have come up with some new guidelines for the bi-weekly rec posts. Here are the changes that we've made.

1) Rec posts will no longer list reccers, so everyone is anonymous.
2) Because rec posts are now anonymous, we request that old reccers re-submit an application in this post if they want to continue reccing.
3) Recs are now due every other Monday (starting with this next one), to be posted that same Wednesday.
3) All recs will be compiled in one masterlist post with comments from individual reccers underneath the fic recced.
3) New guidelines on what to rec, details on that coming.

Advertisement Master Post

Due to the large amount of requests we get for advertisements, we've decided to create a monthly masterpost. Now, rather than asking for permission, you can comment with your advertisement there and those who are interested can check it out.

Advertisements we feel are not relevant may be deleted.

Poll: Fic Request Master Post?

We are also considering something similar for requests posts (we mean the "I'm looking for..." requests, not "Someone please write me..." requests), but wanted to run it by you guys first. It would cut down on our post count, but the downside would be you might not get an immediate response when you need it.

Tags

For those who might be curious about our progress on the tag/memories reorganization process, we are working our way through it.

Currently we're almost done with getting rid of titles in the memories (thanks especially to the help of coyotecolored).

After that we will be moving author tags into memories and pairing memories into tags. :)

Then taylormercury and jinjja will be catching up on the tags we haven't done in the last couple months.

Once we're done with all that, we will allow members access to tags.

Hi, members! This is a very important post, so read carefully.

Upon consideration, Mica, Kat and I thought it would be nice if this comm had a bi-weekly rec post for fics. Since we get so much traffic in a day, I know a lot of members might wind up missing out on something that could potentially interest them otherwise; with the rec post, we hope to help you out a little on that.

But first we need a team of members to make those recommendations. If you're interested, please comment with the following information.

Application

1. username
2. genres you prefer
3. genres you won't read
4. highest rating you'll read
5. how often you read fic at miracle______
6. two or three recommendations you would give right now with sample summaries

This is something less of an application, more of a survey so that we can have a well-rounded team. :) You've got until a week from today and we'll announce the rec team shortly after that. If you're interested, please comment!

Once you're on the rec team...

You may start as soon as you please and e-mail us your recommendations in this format.

You must send at least one recommendation every two weeks to make the posting deadline, but are free to rec as many fics as you like. :) If you're going through personal issues and need a hiatus, we understand, so just shoot us a line and let us know how long you'll be gone.

What can you rec?

Anything that interested you! Remember that the purpose of this community is to keep members up-to-date on the latest new fics that might interest them, however, so the majority of the fics recced ought to be from the last two weeks before each rec post. If every now and then you want to toss in an older fic, then feel free to. Keep it to at max a 2:1 new:old ratio, however.

How the recs will be posted

Fics will be posted every other two weeks with all the information sent to us by our rec team.

We're aiming for ten recs every post. If we haven't got at least that many before the post date, we'll send out messages to our rec team until we get enough.

Note

Don't treat this like an ongoing competition. We will not be awarding prizes to those who have been recommended. This community is still accepting to all sorts of writing - we want everyone to continue writing for fun and out of their own interest, developing their own styles at their own pace.

Even if you don't feel like you're the best writer at this comm, continue to post - it's always good enough to share.

The rec post is intended for readers who are intimidated by our large number of posts, to help them out a little. That's why we're opening this application up to all members, because we want a diverse team with different interests and different styles.
