Indonesia Earthquake

Letter dated May 28th, 2006:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah, peace and blessings be with you.

As you may already know, on May 27, 2006 an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia and killed more than 5000 people. On the southern coast of Java, cities like Bantul and Yogyakarta are the hardest hit.

In December of 2004 a tsunami devastated Indonesia, killing around 200,000 people and much of Indonesia has not yet recovered from this disaster.

The cities are without electricity and telecommunications as homes have been destroyed and people are trying to save their beloved family members from the rubble with their bare hands.

By the grace of God (SWT), The Zakat Foundation has been able to organize its efforts with local organizations and have donated 100 tents and desperately needed medical supplies. We do need your help urgently.

What can you do?

Please pray for the victims and their families either as an individual du’a or in the Mosques as a group.
$10 will deliver hot meals to the victims
$200 will provide a heavy-duty tent for a family
Donate for more medical supplies and care.
If you have any questions of concerns please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone at 1-866-499-6151 or email us: info@thezakat.org

Wassalamu Alaikum, Peace and Blessings
Your Brother in Islam,
Khalil Demir
Director of The Zakat Foundation of America
