New member! [05 Jul 2009|10:22pm]

Hiya everyone! I'm Lauren, from Glasgow, and I'm becoming a wee bit obsessed with Camera Obscura, haha.

This is probably a bit cheeky since this is my first post but does anyone know where I can find the photos from the Transport Museum shoot?
This is one of them:

Camera Obscura @ Mr. Smalls [02 Jul 2009|12:34am]

Saw Camera Obscura for the first time last night. It was their last North American appearance, in support of My Maudlin Career. The show took place at Mr. Small's theatre in Pittsburgh, PA, which is an old church turned indie venue. Pretty cool. They played tracks from the new album and a handful of old favourites, too. Overall, it was a hugely enjoyable night.

Camera Obscura @ the Local 506 in Chapel Hill! [21 Mar 2006|04:45pm]

Last night - I drove to 4 hours to the Local 506 in Chapel Hill to see Camera Obscura. It was a most magical experience, the short time it lasted. During the show someone gave them a fruit basket, Tracy Anne asked the small, but packed place if anyone wanted some fruit and threw a pear and it almost hit someone in the head. After the show we cheered them on for two more songs... Then they came down to talk to the fans- we talked briefly and I was a little nervous, my friendJon got a good picture of us. They are very quiet and modest... and surprisingly shorter than I (I'm only 5'8)

Their new album is going to be a hit.. All of the new songs are awesome, some sad, some popy and catchy. I wish they had played some MORE older songs, but that's okay.

They said they will be touring again in July!!

Was anyone on here at the show? Aquire any photographs?

pictures!Collapse )

Does anyone remember what the name of the new song was (about a british lady writer who faked her own death?)

Edinburgh [05 Jan 2006|01:19pm]

camera obscura

Camera Obscura are premiering material from their new album at a gig in Edinburgh! On Friday January 13th they are playing Teviot Underground, Edinburgh University. Favourites of the late, great John Peel, Camera Obscura have been making melodic, lyrical indiepop together for almost a decade now. Their first two albums, Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi and Underachievers Please Try Harder were received with the highest critical acclaim and their new record promises more of the same.

Support comes from Glasgow band, Dot to Dot, who are making their debut in Edinburgh, bringing their Orange Juice-esque indiepop to us for the first time.

Doors are at 9pm, it only costs £6/5 on the door and non-students need to bring photo ID. There'll be an indiepop disco on after the bands until 3am as well. All brought to you by the good folks at Edinburgh Indiesoc. Hurrah!

Anyone here know if the Camera Obscura show in London is over 18s only?
I have an annoying habit of looking my age, and, while I've been toying with the strong urge to buy some tickets and at least try to get in, I'm fast running out of money.

Hello! My name's Marti and I'm from Buffalo, NY- which is an amazing city if small and slowly falling apart...

Anyway! Does anyone have any Camera Obscura icons? I'm looking to revamp all my icons, but I suck at making them, so I was wondering if anyone had any they'd be willing to give up/share... Thanks!

Camera Obscura/The Faint/Vue In Sound Tour Support CD. This is out of print and limited edition release. The Faint song is remixed by Death Cab for Cutie and its a great version of one of The Faint's most popular songs. The CD is in excellent condition and so is the cover and insert that came with it. I really feel bad selling this CD because its normally something I would keep but I'm in desperate need of $$$, and well.... yea. Also, I started bidding at $5 and its barely moved. I feel awful selling it at this price. Someone out there must really want this item.

Only 2 hrs left on this...

In Sound tour support CD *Out of Print*
Hey, I wasn't aware there were two Camera Obscuras, so I'm not sure if this is apt or not, but I'm selling a rare out of print Camera Obscura, Faint, Vue #13 CD. Its never been played and is in great condition, and the auction is almost ending.
Hopefully, it'll find a home.

Um, hello there. My name is Nat, and I reside in rainy England. I suppose I'm a rather new Camera Obscura fan. I read an album review in Bust Magazine a few months ago and since I am a huge fan of Belle and Sebastian (and twee music in general), thought I would purchase Underachievers Please Try Harder. It arrived in the post today, and it hasn't been out of my CD player since.
