The Snow Beast is an unlikely-looking creature, appearing as a bizarre cross between a gopher and a wolverine. It has white fur, with large vicious claws on its spade-like front paws, and hind paws that look almost like paddles. It burrows through the snow at prodigious speed, using the huge claws on its front paws as scoops to shovel the snow away while its broad rear paws pack the snow behind it and propel it forward. When a snow beast is moving through a snow bank at high speed, the onlooker will see only a strange moving furrow in the snow. When moving on top of the snow, or in snow too shallow for burrowing, the creature is no longer in its native element and moves at only half-speed.
Snow beasts normally travel in packs of 4 to 8 adults, someimes with 1 to 3 pups. Occasionally a solitary male may be encountered as well. Snow beasts are only found in snowy regions; most of the time they dwell high on the slopes of the Mistwarden Mountains, where the snow is always deep, but at times they will foray into the lower regions after a heavy snowfall.
Snow beasts communicate with one another by means of high-pitched whines and odd yipping barks that sound much almost like nervous laughter.

Ravenous eaters, snow beasts will attack anything that enters their territory and seems edible. A snow beast attacks aggressively, usually leaping onto its surprised prey from beneath the snow and striking with its sharp front claws and vicious bite. A pack of snow beasts will often work together to drag down a single opponent.
Pounce (Ex): If the snow beast leaps upon its prey during the first round of combat, it may make a full attack that same round, even if it has already taken a move action.
Rend (Ex): If the snow beast hits with both claw attacks at once, it automatically deals an extra 1d6+6 points of damage.
Tremorsense (Ex): Snow beasts can automatically sense the presence of any creature that approaches within 60 feet through the snow.
Cold Subtype (Ex): Cold immunity, double damage from fire except on a successful Save.

Skills: *Snow beasts receive a +4 bonus to their Wilderness Lore skill when tracking by scent.

Treasure: Snow beasts carry no treasure; however, their hides exude a musky-sweet aroma that many people find appealing. A well-tanned snow beast hide may be worth up to 50 gold pieces to the right buyer.
