Night Patrol. [02 Apr 2005|08:21pm]

The first days back at Hogwarts had been busy for Cho. She was assigned the tasks of making sure everybody knew passwords, and that the common room guards were aware of them, giving directions (she'd seen Neville Longbottom everyday) to lost students, along with patrolling the hallways at night and early morning. She also periodically checked in on teachers, just to make sure they couldn't complain of her being an unattentive or lazy Head Girl.

This night began just like any other night. Cho took her place in the dungeon corridor. She watched this area at night because all the other prefects, and even Jack, were wary of the dungeons. They were naturally a bit scary, but the resident Slytherins were known to be a bit...unwelcoming.

Her footsteps echoed as she paced the series of corridors. The dungeons always gave her an uneasy feeling, even during the day. "Lumos," she wispered. The light dissolved out of her wand, she needed it because no other light permeated through the stone walls down here.

"You see, there's nothing to be worried about," Cho thought to herself as she hugged her robes closer to her body,"You'll be out of here in no time. Safe in your private room, your warm bed..." Thoughts such as these got Cho through the cold hallways. Water was constantly dripping from a leak somewhere.

Just as Cho was about to turn a corner, she began to hear another sound mingling among the dripping water. She turned behind her, casting the emitting glow from her wand into the previously walked hall. Whoever or whatever was following her was hidden in the darkness. Cho began to slowly walk, retracing her steps. It was breathing heavily. She smelled something familliar. It was a mix of...alcohol and oranges. Another set of footsteps began to sound through the corridor.

"Hello? I know you're there," She said as she began to approach whoever it was, "You might as well come here, I won't assign detentions this late in the night"

9 3/4 platform - 10.54. [28 Mar 2005|02:51pm]

Hermione gave her parent's a final hug goodbye, it was time to board Hogwart's express. She had been rather dissapointed with the fact that Harry and Ron would not be joining her on this train journey - for some reason they were going by night bus. It had annoyed her that they had not even given her a reason why for this change of transport to Hogwart's but she was sure it was a good enough reason and that they would tell her everything once all three of them were reunited in Hogwart's. And of course there was also the fact that she felt a little left out.

This left her worrying what company she would have on her journey. Being friends with Harry and Ron, going on dangerous adventures and spending a amount of time making sure she was up to date with her studies had not left her alot of time making other friends. Of course she was well acquainted with most of the student's population in her year, below and above but not on a level where she felt comfortable spending a good part of the day just in their company.

Maybe she could find a cabin to herself and curl up with a good book - but that seemed unlikely. The train was always crowded. She sighed wishing she had asked Ginny if she wanted to share a cabin with her but Ginny had her own friends and surely would want to sit with them. She then thought of Neville.

Dragging her trunk behind her Hermione set off on her own mission, to find Neville and find a farely empty cabin.

Ginny Weasley was sat in the Leaky Cauldron with the rest of her family, and the usual additions to the group - Harry and Hermione. They were all draining the last of a round of butterbeers and Ginny stood up with her father to go collect more drinks.

The two walked over to the bar and Ginny spotted Draco Malfoy, a fellow student at Hogwarts, just coming into the hall. Excusing herself to go to the toilet, Ginny walked over to Malfoy and saw that he was being followed into the bar by his pet Slytherins, Crabbe and Goyle.

"Coming to create mischief, Malfoy?" taunted the girl.

"What are YOU doing here, Weasley? I'm suprised people like YOU can afford to drink in an upstanding establishment like this!" replied Malfoy. "Plus, I don't want to have my relaxed drinking session spoilt by little animals like you. Shove off or i'll make it suddenly impossible for you to stand on you feet."

"You wouldn't dare, Malfoy. You know that I can stop you and you'll look like a fool in front of your friends. Not that that would be hard to do. Most of the ground work has been done for me!"

Malfoy started to grab for either his wand or Ginny but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder.

Meanwhile, in the darkness of the summer shadows cast by the towering buildings, Draco Malfoy was leaning up against a cool stone wall in the company of his two sidekicks, Crabbe and Goyle. He looked over the crowds in front of him.

"Sheep. They don't know what they're doing. They never do. No meaning in their pathetic lives. Unlike me. I have a plan..."

The three ducked into the space between two shops and Draco pulled a massive book from his rucksack. Flipping to the back of the book, his finger flew down the index. Pausing, he looked across to the other two boys who looked back and grinned mischeviously. Hearing a noise behind him, Draco snapped the book shut and cramming it back into the bag, he turned down to the Caldron.

"Refreshments are in order, i think, eh?"

Hannah stumbled slightly as she tried to make her way through the busy street. It seemed like everyone was in Diagon Alley today. She and Ernie had just gone there separate ways and already she felt lost without her best friend.

She gave another frustrated sigh when a piece of her blond hair flew into her eyes blocking her view. She paused for a moment so she could tie her hair up and then glanced around hoping to spot someone she knew - but that would be quite impossible, especially in this crowd.

Deciding that she was in the need of a warm mug of Butterbeer Hannah made her way to favorite cafe which was a place she knew her fellow Hogwart's students' hanged.
