Newbie. [Sun, 8.6.06 @ 9:34pm]

[ mood | productive ]

Hey all, I've lived in Brooklyn forever - but recently I've migrated to La Tourette, Staten Island. Anyone know if there are any buses that go from Staten Island to New Jersey? (Mainly south, around Holmdel)

Any transportation help from Staten Island to Manhattan and Brooklyn would be helpful too. I've got most of it down, but a little more help would be cool.

Thanks. :)

Hazing [Sun, 4.2.06 @ 1:17am]
Hello, we are two students at Rochester Institute of Technology currently engaged in an independent study project addressing the issue of hazing in New York. The goal of this project is two-pronged - we wish to discover the prevalence of hazing in the state as well as get your opinion on what should be done about it, if anything.

Under the lj-cut is our survey, which asks a variety of questions about your personal experiences with hazing, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a minute or two from your time to fill it out really quickly. We even have questions at the beginning for those who have never experienced hazing but wish to share their opinion on the subject. Additionally, each question gives you the option to answer in more detail beyond the choices we have already provided. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you have more include in your answer.

Your responses to this survey are anonymous, so please do not put your name (or any information that would identify you) anywhere on this survey. You may quit the survey at any time and for any reason, or you may decline to answer any of the questions, but your responses to every question are important and we ask that you answer as many of the questions as you possibly can. You may post your answers however you like - under your user name, anonymously, or you may e-mail them to us at hazing.survey@gmail.com. All posts will be screened, so no one except you, us, and the community administrator will be able to see your responses.

Please inform us of any questions, concerns, or feedback you might have. If you do not feel that this survey belongs in this community, or if you are offended by any part of it, please let us know and we will be more than willing to take it down. Thank you in advance for your time.

Hey! New [Sun, 1.1.06 @ 8:12pm]

Hey, i accidently stumbled upon this community when i clicked one of my "interests" on my user info page. (it said Soho lol). I thought it might be interesting to join. I go to school in the city and commute everyday. I study ballet at the JKO school...its the American Ballet Theatre school.
I adore NY and even though commuting it tough and can get pretty annoying its so worth it. Downtown like SoHo and then way uptown like the Columbia Campus are my favorite parts of NY. My classes are downtown but when im not dancing im usually spending my time Midtown, its just ends up that way. Really any part of NYC is amazing. Even still my absolute favorite place in all of New York is Union Sqaure, i just adore it and im really lucky because Union Square is right next to my studio :)!
well thats all for now, i just thought it would be cute to jion and now you know why haha.

Getting there [Sat, 8.20.05 @ 5:35pm]

[ mood | curious ]

I was just wondering if it is possible to get to Staten Island (or more specifically the Staten Island Mall) via public transportation
from North Jersey (specifically the Paterson/Paramus Area.)

Thank you

New Here [Fri, 7.29.05 @ 11:00am]

I stumbled across this community and thought it looked pretty tight! I don't live in Manhattan, but I'm hoping to change that within the next 5 years. I went to NYC for the first time in May 2005...and loved it. I went mainly cause I have never been, and also because I wanted to check out NYU's campus. I'm considering the Stern School Of Business for my grad work. I just seem to fit in better in big cities...suburban life isn't for me! New York was awesome, although the friends I went with made me do a lot of the "touristy" things...which I hate doing on vacations. I love just blending in and getting lost in the culture...kind of like a game of pretend (i.e. pretending I live there for a week). Anyways, just wanted to say hi!

Come on ppl post! [Tue, 1.18.05 @ 9:43am]

[Thu, 11.25.04 @ 1:57pm]

a while ago i asked if any of you were from NYC, if you recall. I ask this for two reasons:

1.) I'm arriving in NYC for the weekend with some friends my age (college) Saturday morning at around 4-5 am. Our hotel checkin isn't until 3 pm, so we're wondering if there are any places around the city we can visit that early in the morning so that we don't end up sitting on a street corner. This includes any and all all-night cafes, restaurants, clubs, museums, stores, etc. Also, do you know of any places we can drop off luggage?

2.) What are some of your favorite locations for photography in and around the city? Please let me know. If anyone wants to meet up while I'm there, let me know, too. :)
