Setlist Poll - SymX responds..and more Headbanger's Ball [26 Jan 2008|09:58am]

I spoke to MJR yesterday, and he actually asked me about the poll before I had a chance to tell him about it; he was very interested to hear what the results were. He was on his way out the door to meet up with some of the other guys, & took a few minutes to write down the top fives so that they could discuss them; just like the last poll, he was surprised by some of the songs you all asked to hear. You'll be happy to hear that he said that they will definitely be using some of the songs that ya'll asked for. He also asked me to pass on the band's thanks to all of you for participating, so thank you from the band!

Also, Set the World on Fire will be played on Headbanger's Ball again tonight; I think that this is a VERY good thing, that it wasn't just a one time event..exciting stuff for the band and their fans!

One more thing: Fan club members, stay tuned for an e-mail regarding the new membership structure, renewals, and the next fan club cd (which is going to be AWESOME)!

Have a great weekend,
Jax :)

Setlist Poll - results [24 Jan 2008|12:15am]

I have spent MANY hours over the past few days tallying all of the setlist poll responses..holy cow, the turnout was awesome, thanks so much to everyone who responded (you can bet the next poll will be automated..LOL)!! In the interest of brevity, I'm not going to list all of the results, but rather, the top 5 requested songs from each cd; for the record, the song with the most votes overall was Set the World on Fire (The Lie of Lies).

[Edit: Also, there have been comments all over regarding the Accolade songs not appearing in the top fives list, so I thought I'd let you know that the Accolade votes were done a bit differently since there were people voting for each separately, as well as people asking for both together. Because the point was to let the band know what ya'll want to hear (as compared to just providing a top five list for each cd), 'both Accolades together' was a separate category..if the votes had been split up between the separate songs, both would've been in the top five on their respective cds.]

The results..Collapse )

The making of the Set the World on Fire video [22 Jan 2008|08:00pm]

A video of the making of the Set the World on Fire video can be seen on Headbanger's Blog. Complete with written commentary from Mike Romeo..leave a comment there & let MTV know that you support the band!

Also, here's the Set the World on Fire video itself (which is now on SPV's YouTube page), for those of you who weren't able to see it on the MTV site:

Time for a setlist poll :) [16 Jan 2008|11:32am]

[ mood | good ]

There have been rumblings here and there about the band's tour setlist & how it needs some changes. We did a setlist poll a few years ago, & I spoke with MJR about it recently & he agreed that it was time to do another one. So here's your chance to let the band know what you want to see them play on tour!

Here's how it goes. You reply here and tell me what songs you would like to hear the band play on their upcoming tours..give me 90 minutes worth of material (no, the band is not necessarily playing a 90 minute set, that's just a random number I'm choosing). You can pick particular songs, or just say that you'd like to hear anything from a certain cd, or a mix of both. I'll leave this open until midnight (US Pacific time) on Sunday night; on Monday, I'll compile the results & send them to the band, and post them for you guys as well. The last time we did this, MJR was surprised at some of the songs you all wanted to see them perform live, & took the suggestions under consideration. He says they'll do so as well this time, so make sure you let them know what you want to hear.

Looking forward to seeing what you all have to say!

Jax :)

[ mood | bored ]

Don't mean to post twice in the same day but I wanna hear an opinion from people here.

If I made an anime music video (I'm incredibly bored, I know) with Serpents Kiss featuring scenes from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure would you guys watch it if I posted it here?

[03 Jan 2008|06:42am]

This question goes to people who have played the Guitar Hero games. Did any music from Symphony X ever show up in any of the games?

[ mood | chipper ]

Does anybody else like the original Symphoy X CD? I never hear much about it anymore, but it has some really great songs... Not just Masquerade, either. Songs like Shades of Gray and A Lesson Before Dying are really good... Does anyone know if the band plans on remaking them with Russell's vocals, or reworking them to a more current-SymX sound?

I really still enjoy the CD, and I'd hate to think those songs are just gone now...

Anyway, just a thought.

Note to those who play old school RPGs and like SX music. Play the music while playing an ol' school RPG, like Dragon Warrior, Phantasy Star, or Final Fantasy (before FF6  that is), the music just somehow makes the game more enjoyable in my opinion.

Just thought I'd put that out to you dudes, :)
