A safe space to share stories and ask questions
I just thought I'd plug the Blogathon in here, because many people are blogging for RAINN and different trauma centers. I thought some of you may want to sponsor them. Even a $5 pledge can add up!!

What is a Blogathon? Bloggers from all over the world stay up for 24 hours, posting on their journals every 1/2 hour. They are blogging for their charity of choice. People are asked to sponsor them in their journey with a lump sum donation to the charity.

Here is where you can search through the list of blogs and charities.

For the 2nd year in a row, I'll be blogging for the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation which raises money for Pediatric Cancer Research. If you'd like to follow along on my journey, here's the link to my site. If you'd like to SPONSOR ME, I'd be forever in your debt! All of my sponsors get a thank you card mailed to them from me and a chance to win a $40 Amazon Gift Card. I will also be auctioning off Progressive Photos of my journey over 24 hours for $5 donations!

Love to all my survivor brothers and sisters! Have a great weekend!
5th-Oct-2006 11:32 pm - Husband?
I'm in counseling, trying to recover, but my husband has made this somewhat difficult. He's angry about the attack, particulary because it was one of his friensd who did it. He doesn't want to go to counseling, but he's so angry all the time. He's stopped sleeping, and occasionally tries to talk to me about it, but he gets accusatory. He blames me for so mcuh of it still, and when we try to talk about it I end up regressing in my recovery bceause I relive to much, and end up back blaming myself for more than I should. How have you helped your significant others in recovery? This all happened recently, in july of this year, I want to give him the time he needs, but he doesn't know how to recover. He's even said he's not ready to move past it or get over it yet because he wants answers, but he's never going to get justice or answers because the case has been dropped.

14th-Sep-2006 04:32 pm - Rainn action alert
If anyone is interested, after I sponsored my friend in the blogathon for RAINN, I was subscribed to their e-newsletter, and this alert came today (blurb is mine, from my personal journal):

Phone your Senators/Congressional reps to encourage funding for rape crisis centers. To me, this is one of the basic, fundamental responsibilities of a government - protecting people's rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (i.e. not to be raped or assaulted, and to have legal recourse when it happens). This is what the U.S. government was originally supposed to do in the Constitution.

15th-Aug-2006 05:26 pm - RAINN opens online hotline
RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) has opened an online-accessible FREE hotline service:

The Online Hotline, which is a secure web-based crisis hotline, provides live, secure and completely confidential help to victims through an interface as intuitive as instant messaging. For the first time ever, victims who need help, but are reluctant to call the telephone hotline, have the option of communicating securely online with someone who has the training to help them take steps toward recovery.

The Online Hotline is available from 4 pm to 6 pm EST, Monday through Friday. More days and times will open within the next few weeks and months.

For more information about the Online Hotline or to use it during the above times, please visit http://www.rainn.org/ohl-bridge.php.

Thank you all for your passionate support of our organization and advocacy efforts, and good luck in your continued healing.

Just Listen
I hope no one minds if I make a reminder about my blogathon.

Blogathon day is today, and I'm blogging for RAINN. Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network. It'll be a long day, pray for me to make it.

You can donate here., All goes directly to RAINN. And you can donate up to 48 hours after the event, which ends at 8 AM tomorrow morning. Or you can just come hang out with me on my journal at ascarredbody.

I don't have a theme, so I'll just be making random posts. Wish me luck. And thank you.
14th-Jul-2006 09:07 pm - I'm doing it to.
Just Listen
Who else is participating in Blogathon 2006?

I am and my charity is RAINN the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network. So if you aren't participating, and you have a few extra dollars lying around you might consider Sponsoring Me. I would be honored if you did.

And if you can't you can always hang around the eljay and keep my company on the 29th, as I blog every half hour for 24 hours. (Sans sleep)

All proceeds go to RAINN an organization that helps survivors of rape, abuse, and incest get their voices back. RAINN helps set up counseling services and raise awareness. And otherwise fights for Women's Rights. You know you want to help now.

X-posted to personal journal.

Someone posted this link to nopity, and I wanted to pass it along. RAINN (Rape, abuse, and incest national network) is looking for survivors to share their story, in order to help raise awareness about abuse. You can use your name or you can be completely anonymous.

So I thought I'd pass along the link in case you were interested:

For quite some times I have been a lurker and on few occasions I have commented in here. Everything is still very fresh in my mind. It has been months since I have been able to work.

cut because it could be triggering. Also where do we go when no one will stand up for us? When No one will hear our voices?Collapse )
