To be sure, it seemed like CBS was running out of decent islands anyway.
On May 15, 2005, host Jeff Probst announced that the 11th Survivor series would be set in the Central American country of Guatemala. It was home to part of the Mayan civilization and is still home to its remains: weathered temples stand tall against the forces of age and nature, and ball courts wait for human use. (The Survivors' arrival in fall 2005 will probably see to that.)
