Hi! I've just joined LiveJournal and attend a Spiritualist church in Wakefield, UK. I'm also a member of the Rational Spirituality Movement and would love to make contact with others.

I have a couple of questions, actually, so I'll just throw them out there.

First, how closely related are the Spiritualism practices of today to those of the movement at the end of the 1800s/early 1900s? It seems that when you look for information on the subject, you get lots of reading on the Fox sisters and Victorian seances, but then it just... stops. What's happening today, and how closely can I compare what I have learned from the historical accountings to the modern movement?

Secondly, how do you people find each other? :) I've tried to find a meeting or group where I could ask these sorts of questions in person or observe in an effort to learn, and I can find nothing outside of a few small societies in the UK. Is that the only place to where Spiritualism is now relegated?
