Hey everyone
I'm planning on having a scary movie night with a bunch of friends and we needed some scary movie suggestions. What are your favorites, or ones that you have liked?
Nothing that is too gruesome and graphic becuase i dont think they all can handle movies like that. Just something jumpy, scary, with a good plot.
thanks so much!

I come to you for help

Okay so I've unfortunatley been very distant from Horror films latley. It's used to be me renting a new horror movie every weekend, making a journal critizing the negative parts and the positive parts in it. The last horror movie I rented was The Omen I believe, and that was over a month ago.

I need suggestions on a horror movie that will restrike my interest in them. I'm thinking about watching Scream and Sleepaway Camp when I have the time considering those movies are my two favorite that I own.

Any suggestions though?
I've seen a lot of the classics like The Shining, The Omen, Exorcist, pretty much most the very well known classics. But suggest them anyway just incase I have yet to see it.

Please no Zombie flicks either.

Thank You.

Once again please forgive if you feel this is out of place.

I just picked up my ordered copy of American Nightmare (i've yet to watch it), and i noticed on the front its got a picture of the directors that are interviewed and a still from thier movies...

On the Tobe Hooper picture its got a friggin' pic of the front of the texas remake!!!...

You would've thought when he saw the cover he would have said:

"erm i actually made the original version, you know the good one"

For a movie that celebrates horror directors, seems like a bit of a piss take, especially since the TCM cover is one of the most famous iconic images in cinema...

or is it just me?

Just found this site and thought i'd have a bit of a join up..

My names tom, i'm 26 and live in adelaide south australia...

I write and self publish south australias only independent horror and sci fi zine under the ultra cool banner of TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL ZINE, i also have columns in hammer time zine and woooo wrestling zine...

My movie choices are a mixture of horror movies and bad sci fi movies...

Demons at the Door

this movie is very odd. the acting is not very good, and the story line isnt either. but this movie goes from bad, to good, to bad, then finally ends in good. its weird. i loved it by the end, its one of those C-D class films which you hate that you loved it.

also with the sound track having Insane Clown Posse on it, how can you go wrong!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Omen

This time I watched the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Omen.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre:I remember seeing this movie a loooong time ago when I was 9 or so, and always thought it was scary as hell and now that I watched it about 7 and a half years later, I gotta admitt it must have been the whole me being 9 years old thing. It really wasn't that scary. Despite of that, I thought it was awsome. A little quick pased as far as the deaths and story go. I must say that 7 and a half years ago didn't have any effect on my opinion of the new version of TCM, and that opinion still stands. The new version wasn't a thing like the new one. It was a totaly different movie all together...."it was a totaly different movie al together"(Airplane fans will get it). Was that the intetion? Anyway, I'd definatly recomend you renting the ORIGINAL Texas Chainsaw Massacre for those of you 3 people that havn't seen it yet.

The Omen:I have to be honest...this movie was boring, long, and not nearly as good as I expected. One guy told me that movies like Black Christmas and Scream were pussy movies compared to this(those probably being the closest movies to a movie that scared me). Then my mom was like "Sean if this movie doesn't scare you, I don't know what will!". Half way through it I was bored and not very interested. I just didn't find it scary nor could I get into it. I was so dissapointed...

I'll have some more movies coming up soon cause I today rented The Omen(though I just reveiwed it), Black Christmas, and Gothic America. I also rented Amityville Horror along with TCM a few days ago. I'm not sure if I did Black Christmas after I saw it, but if not I got q great reveiw for this movie. I looooove it.

Halloween 4 & 5 and Silent Night Deadly Night

This week I watched Halloween 4 and 5 from my Halloween 1-5 ebay order(now I just need to watch 3) and Silent Night Deadly Night also from ebay(and I still need to watch SNDN2)

Halloween 4:I thought this movie was fuckin great! For not having Jaime Lee Curtis's original character, and trying to pass of a sequal without her, they did a good job with the little girl Jaime. I thought she was a good actress too. I thought the ending was great, and I dind't expect it at all. It left me completely confused, yet I had to see the 5th one right away.

Halloween 5:Halloween 5 seemed to me, to be even better then 4. I loved it. Through out the whole movie though, I couldn't get over how god damn annoying Dr. Loomis is. He keeps acting like he knows what will work to finally kill Michael, yet Michael has gotten away each and every time. Speaking of Michael dying, I thought how they played off Michael living in 4 was brilliant. And just like the 4th, after seeing Halloween 5 I now have to see 6 badly. Please don't spoil anything.

One thing I think they should have just done to Michael after a while, is transported him to a hospital or prison or whatever somewhere across the country, cause every time they'd hold him or "kill him" he'd come back, mainly on foot. If they put him in...washington or something, he wouldn't of had such an easy time getting back to his home town.

Silent Night, Deadly Night:Because I had stayed up the night before and had not slept, I kept falling asleep during this movie, but I'd either wake up and continue watching it, or press pause and go take a nap for a while. But from what I do remember of the movie, I thought it was pretty good. Not the greatest, but not bad. I guess it made sense and it was decent, but I thought the triggering of Billy's muderous rage, could have been triggered better. It wasn't bad though.
