Viewers didn't have much trouble finding the CMA Awards on their new network Monday, as they delivered a ratings win for ABC.
The Alphabet network averaged a 9.9 rating/15 share for the night, down some from last year's awards on CBS but the best of the night. CBS, 8.0/12, took second, and NBC was third at 7.4/11. FOX, 4.4/7, came in fourth, and The CW trailed with a 2.1/3.
ABC also led among adults 18-49 with a 5.4 rating. NBC, 4.8, took second in the demographic beloved by advertisers, topping CBS' 4.3. FOX averaged 2.7 and The CW 1.4.
The CMA Awards, celebrating their 40th year, scored a 9.6/14 for ABC at 8 p.m. NBC's "Deal or No Deal" was a solid second at 9.0/13. "How I Met Your Mother," 5.4/8, and "The Class," 4.9/7, put CBS in third. "Prison Break" scored a 5.1/8 for FOX, while The CW went with "Everybody Hates Chris" and "All of Us."
ABC stayed on top at 9 p.m. as the CMAs improved to 10.7/16. "Heroes" delivered an 8.4/12 for NBC, tying for second with CBS' "Two and a Half Men," 9.2/13, and "Old Christine," 7.4/11 (NBC had an edge in viewers). "Justice" kept FOX in fourth. "Girlfriends" and "The Game" averaged 1.9/3 for The CW.
"CSI: Miami," 10.6/17, claimed the lead for CBS at 10 p.m. The CMA Awards posted a 9.4/15, and NBC's "Studio 60" came in at 4.8/8.

Easier to understand version:
HOT CSI: Miami: 16.5 million viewers. Although down a full million from its previous original episode, Horatio and friends are still Monday's highest-rated posse.
Country Music Awards: 15.9 million. Yee-haw! This solid number helped ABC steal a gaggle of 18- to 49-year-olds from the other networks.
Heroes: 14.3 million. The superheroes are flying high!
MILD Two and a Half Men: 14.5 million. Charlie Sheen is used to ratings much larger than this. We blame the CMAs, with Faith Hill and all her purtiness.
Prison Break: 8.6 million viewers is not bad, but you'd think more people would have shown up for (don't read if you haven't yet seen it) the grand Michael and Sara reunion. Hmph.
How I Met Your Mother: 8.4 million. Why isn't everyone in America watching this show? Come on, people, show up and suit up!
The Class: 7.7 million. Not stellar, but holding enough of its Mother lead-in to avoid expulsion.
Everybody Hates Chris: 3.5 million. Holding steady.
COLD Studio 60: 7.7 million viewers. By no means a victory, but at least it's consistent with the number 60 pulled two weeks ago. Unfortunately, that's about 500,000 less than Friday Night Lights' performance last week.
Justice: 5.8 million. Last week, the numbers were up. This week, they're back down. Is there no justice for Justice?!
