Hello, my name is Tuesday and this is my first time posting on this site. I have 2 children. Seth is 3, and Logan is 4 months. I breastfed Seth for 13 months and I plan on doing about the same with Logan. While I don't have any problems with the actual b/f, what I am looking for is support to keep doing it. This time around, I'm having trouble getting the weight off, and I keep thinking things like: "If I wasn't breastfeeding, I could take diet pills and eat less and I'd lose this weight."

I'm really struggling right now with it, and the only thing that is keeping me going is that I know breastmilk is best for my son.

Well, that is it from me and I hope to get to know all of you alot better!

I have a question, my daughter is a week old, and now when I feed her the first few sucks when she latches on hurt soooo bad, I wanted to know if anyone knows of the different creams or stuff that you can use and not have to worry about washing it off before the baby eats. But until I can get out of the house to go get some, is there anything like around the house that I can use to help?

My name is Jasmin. I am a 23 year old mother of 2 and one on the way. my daughter is 4 (5 in march) and my son will be 2 on christmas eve. I have been married for 5 years to my husband and highschool sweetheart. (yes we married Y.O.U.N.G.) but hey to each their own right? thats my outlook on life everyone has their ways of thinking and preferences and who am i to tell them they are wrong? If you want my opinion im sure you will ASK, that is why I think it community is appropriate.

B/f i feel IS best but there are many reasons why one cant, doesnt do it for long or chooses not to at all. Im fine with that. as i said before---to each their own :) Im joining because I plan on breastfeeding my third and possibly final child who is due april 13th 2006. Here is a snippet of a post made in April_2006 about my situation and feelings this time around:

I b/f my first but only for 4 weeks :( my second for 8 weeks and to be honest i only actually gave them the boob for about a week or 2 and pumped the rest. I didnt have any support from hospital staff and wasnt educated enough to get somone from LLL(la leche league) to help me and so forth. I had bad latches sore nipples engourgment and all the other things that come along wiht not really knowing what i was doing. I feel this is my last chance to give it my all and i feel that reading various things on the internet and this time around really talking to a Lactation consultant and support fromm people like on here, that i can do it.

I am REALLY hoping to not give my child a drop of formula and really sticking to my guns on this. I am very determined to do this. Last time i wanted to quit so many times but simply hearing a positive "your doing great" or "your baby is getting the best right now" kept me from quitting. I feel selfish for not totally b/f the entire time. This is my time to make up for giving up so easily the last two times.

Thank you all for your time taken to read this.

Hi, I'm Ariana. I have a 5 year old and an almost 2 1/2 year old. I've been breastfeeding for over 5 years. My first son self weaned when he was just under 3 (this was during the second trimester of my second pregnancy). My younger son is still nursing. I had *a lot* of problems with breastfeeding the first time around. Low supply, sleepy baby, low weight gain, jaundice, bad latch, etc. My complete nursing story is HERE. Because of the difficulties I faced I've really become interested in helping other moms nurse their babies. I'm the primary administrator in adopt_a_mom a community of experienced breastfeeding moms who volunteer to mentor new moms and moms to be one on one through email. I'm also one of the moderators over in breastfeeding and do all I can to make sure accurate information is given over there.

Im danielle, young mom pregnant with #2 due any day now.. I fully intended on breastfeeding my first son but as soon as we got home from the hospital he refused to eat, which made him jaundice, and too frantic to eat.. which led to me getting no sleep and being ver overwhelmed, i honestly had no idea what to expect.. and i needless to say i didnt breastfeed long, but this time i want to make sure i get off to a better start and thats why im here.. i look forward to getting to know all of you and learning from everyones different experiences.. it looks like a lot of us are new to nursing, so we'll probably be learning a lot of stuff together!

Hi. I figured I'd introduce myself as well. Get this community going a bit more and so we all know each other as well!

My name is Holli and I'm 22. I'm currently 34 weeks 2 days pregnant with my first child. Its a boy! Course you could see that from my icon I'm sure. His name will be Liam Korben and he is due in November. I'm going to breast feed my little one though I dont want to be told how to do it or that I'm a bad mother because I allow bottles, of breast milk, from time to time (course after latching is established!)

Other than that...well I guess I'm the cause of why this community was created or at least thats what I've read! =) I'm glad that someone out there felt as strongly as I did about the fact that there should be respect among all of us who are going threw so many things that we dont need to be attacked or attacking any one for their beliefs. It will be great to see how this community grows and evolves over time! Great to be here and great to meet and hopefully meet more amazing mommies!
