can anyone recommend authors similar to miranda july? "no one belongs here more than you" is my favorite book and i adore her style of writing. i've heard lorrie moore is similar and i already own a few of her books but i want more more more!

Today at a book signing, author David Sedaris recommended everyone pick up Miranda July's book.
He added that she has a voice like no one else he's ever read.

I was pretty excited when he said this.

Hey guys,

I'm doing a creative project and I hope you can help me out... answer these two questions for me....

What pisses you off about the world we live in today?

What are you going to do about it?

I want to get as many people as I can to answer these questions as honestly as possible... Its totally okay if your answer to the second question is "nothing". I just want to spark some thoughts inside your head.

Feel free to answer any way you like, ask anyone you would like and, post anywhere you would like... the more people the better.

Gandhi said we must be the change we want to see in the world... so where can we start?

Thanks and love

"There are two movies I saw on TV about boys who were taken from their families and then returned to them years later. One boy was on a fun spaceship for years and the other boy was kidnapped and molested. These boys were never the same again and they just couldn't re-integrate into the family. I saw these movies when I was little. I've often described them to people, always paired together. They are sort of the comedy and tragedy version of the same story and it is a mundanely spiritual story. Getting Stronger Every Day includes these boys' tales, but they are like mystical objects placed on the living reality of the man storyteller. In other parts of the movie actual mystical objects hover in peoples lives without a myth or story attached. I like to think about how these dimensions interact simply and can be enacted: real life / story / worldly / spirit / video / flat drawing."

I hope this is allowed. I created an RP revolving around directors and promoting it in RP promotion communities doesn't seem to work, since no one on them has heard of any directors, so I thought I'd go to sites for people who know something about movies. The community is the_crf and it's just a faux celebrity RP revolving around directors. Miranda July and lots of others are available.
