Hello [14 Feb 2007|03:09pm]

grrrlesque
Hello everyone! I'm Greta and I'm 23 years old. I live in Tennessee in the USA. KRS is my favorite record label, along with Chainsaw records. I am into riot grrrl. Some bands I like are: Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Casual Dots, Free Kitten, Frumpies, Heavens To Betsy, Huggy Bear, Julie Ruin, Team Dresch, and The Butchies. Does anyone have any recommendations for other bands like these on KRS that I should listen to?

This Flood Covers the Earth tour help? [22 Nov 2006|09:07pm]

thereceivingend
Hi. I'm Charlie. I play guitar and scream a lot in This Flood Covers the Earth, a post-hardcore band from San Diego along the lines of Botch, City of Caterpillar, Drive Like Jehu, Funeral Diner, Isis, Swing Kids, Unwound, etc. We have a Myspace account with some songs on it that you can listen to here: www.myspace.com/thisfloodcoverstheearth.

We have a split 12"/CD with fellow San Diegans Lanterns that came out this summer, and we have a new 7" coming out on Dood Records mid-December.

So far we've done a west coast tour, a southwest tour, and a full US tour, and are looking to tour the west coast again this winter... however, we've run into some snags with booking and are looking for any help that anyone could give us. This is our itinerary...

12/29 San Diego CA @ the Che Cafe, w/ Comadre, 400 Blows, Secret Fun Club
12/30 Tijuana MEX @ TBA w/ Comadre, I Am Cataclysm
12/31 Riverside CA @ the Parkview, w/ Comadre, Graf Orlock
01/01 Los Angeles CA @ ??? HELP!
01/02 Ventura / Fresno / Bakersfield CA @ ??? HELP!
01/03 San Francisco CA @ ??? HELP!
01/04 Sacramento CA @ ??? HELP!

01/05 Sonoma CA @ the Shop, w/ Brilliant Red Lights
01/06 Lower Lake CA @ Rebekah's Lodge
01/07 Salem / Eugene OR @ ??? HELP!
01/08 Portland OR @ the Posi Den, w/ Comadre
01/09 Seattle WA @ Camp Nowhere

01/12 Reno NV @ TBA
01/13 Las Vegas @ ??? HELP!
01/14 Phoenix / Tucson AZ @ ??? HELP!

If you think you can help us out in any way, shape, or form, we'd really appreciate it. We can be contacted via our Myspace, our email (thisfloodcoverstheearth@gmail.com), or via this medium as well.

Thanks very much for reading.

Hey guys, we're more than a week into tour and still looking for some help...

This is for This Flood Covers the Earth and Lanterns.
Flood = screamy epic post-hardcore, hear them here: myspace
Lanterns = loud indie guitar rock, hear them here: myspace

Basically, we're looking for anything, and I will stress ANYTHING at this point. We have our own PA with us, if you could just give us access to your living room or basement or garage for an evening and invite your friends over and let us pass a hat around and try and sell some shit, that would be amazing. A lot of people have been really great and helped out, but a ton of other people flaked on us and pretty much fucked us while we're a thousand miles from home. Any help at all would be amazing, so if you can, please hit us up.

We leave soon for tour and we need some help... [06 Jul 2006|09:47pm]

thereceivingend
Hello there.

I'm about to leave on tour with my band, This Flood Covers the Earth, and our friends, Lanterns. We have a split record that just came out on History Major Records, and were hoping to play some shows this summer in support of it around the country.

Flood plays epic, heavy post-hardcore, some influences: Botch, Isis, Drive Like Jehu, Unwound, Mission of Burma, Funeral Diner. Lanterns plays spacey, aggressive indie rock, some influences: Pavement, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Meneguar, Cap'n Jazz, My Bloody Valentine, Heroin. Both bands have Myspaces with some sounds on them, so you can hear for yourself, Flood's is here, Lanterns' is here.

We could really use some help on some of these dates, and honestly, we'll play pretty much anywhere, as long as it's all ages (or [grudgingly] 18+). This includes a DIY space, a club, a bar, your living room one night, your garage in the afternoon, your basement at four in the morning... well, you get the idea. We don't need guarantees or to be fed or to be given places to stay, we just need places to play, and we really will take anything and will just be stoked to each play for twenty minutes and make some new friends with the dozen or so people that trickle in and pay attention to us for two-thirds of an hour total.

Tour Contacts? [18 May 2006|02:27pm]

thereceivingend
Hi there. I'm trying to book a summer tour for my band, This Flood Covers the Earth, and our friends, Lanterns. Flood sounds like mid-'90's Ebullition crossed with early-'00's Level Plane, with some doom metal and indie stuff thrown in. Lanterns are like Drive Like Jehu covering My Bloody Valentine songs. Flood's Myspace is here, Lanterns' is here. Recently, we've been having some trouble throughout the midwest, New England, and the south, and were wondering if we could get some help as far as contacts go.

States we need help with:

Connecticut
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Nebraska
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minneapolis
Ohio
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Tennessee
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin

So yeah, if you book shows, or know people who do, feel free to get in touch with us, either through this medium, or by emailing us at thisfloodcoverstheearth@gmail.com, or by shooting us a line on Myspace. For those interested, yes, we can offer show trades in San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles.

Thanks!

Hi. We're going on tour. We need help still. Sucks to be us. [13 Jan 2006|12:58pm]

Hi there. I'm in this band called This Flood Covers the Earth. We sound like Drive Like Jehu, Unwound, Don Caballero, Funeral Diner, Off Minor, etc (loud chaotic electric guitar music). We're going on tour in February and still need a little bit of help. We're really not picky, we'll play a bar, a club, a garage, a living room, a basement, a softball field, whatever. We can offer you pretty much any date you could ever want in San Diego if that's any incentive to helping us get some of these shows nailed down. We have an mp3 up on our Myspace, which is linked above. Here's our shit so far:

Feb 02 Ventura CA @ Alpine
Feb 03 ??? Central Valley or SF Bay Area help would be awesome
Feb 04 Sacramento CA @ DIY Vegan House, w/ Fuck the Forest
Feb 05 Portland OR @ High Karate House, w/ Built By Giants
Feb 06 Seattle WA @ the Funhouse (details about this below)
Feb 07 ??? Seattle / Bellingham / Tacoma, anywhere in Washington really
Feb 08 Eugene OR @ DIVA w/ Doubleplusgood
Feb 09 Reno NV @ the Spacement, w/ Acts of Sedition, Bafabegiya
Feb 10 Santa Cruz CA @ the Showbox, w/ Comadre, Mohorram Atta
Feb 11 Santa Ana CA @ Sol Art Gallery-Cafe, w/ Minus Radio, Poland Romanski

On the 6th in Seattle, we just need two bands to play. That's it. Just two bands. The Funhouse will give us the show if we get two bands to play it with us. Anyone? Anyone?

Hey everyone

My name's Jon and I'm a long time viewer, first time poster. Uh...I guess this is just another shameless plug for an unknown band's upcoming tour. I've seen some huge posts in this community but please let me know if this is destroying your friends page and I'll make like a plastic surgeon and tuck it behind a cut. Lame joke ouch.

Capillary Action

[Picture of Yucca]

Melodic death metal rave-ups, fractured no wave-inspired crescendos, Latin rhythms, video game music, lounge jazz, new wave synths, mathy melodies, sexual frustration, isolation, alienation, failure, hospitals, mad scientists, far-off lands, malfunctioning NES cartridges, indignant B-boys, drugs, being stranded in Alaska after your plane crashed and killed everyone on board except you, and coming to grips with the fact that you're staring into the eyes of something larger than yourself.

Naked City without the bar-band leanings, Zappa if he knew about Converge, Mr. Bungle, a more eclectic version of Hella, dorks with guitars, Fugazi, Boredoms, At The Gates, James Chance, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Godspeed You Black Emperor engaged in a vicious argument over a parking space. Stockhausen, Stravinsky, Boulez, Xenakis, Javanese Gamelan, Negativland, Masonna, Merzbow, Discordance Axis, DJ Shadow, and Prefuse 73.

A glitched-out tsunami. With a full band in tow, Capillary Action's frenetic live show, which often results in a variety of injuries as well as general confusion, will be hitting a city near you in the coming months.

Hi. I'm in a band from San Diego called This Flood Covers the Earth. We used to be called the View From Space.

We're a heavy dual-vocaled post-hardcore band with long songs and weird structures.

We're booking some shows for a tour next spring, and were wondering if anyone could help us out.

Feb 02 2006 Los Angeles, CA (under control)
Feb 03 2006 Bakersfield / Fresno, CA (help!)
Feb 04 2006 San Francisco Bay Area, CA (help!)
Feb 05 2006 Portland / Eugene, OR (under control)
Feb 06 2006 Seattle / Olympia, WA (help!)
Feb 07 2006 Seattle / Olympia, WA (help!)
Feb 08 2006 Portland / Eugene, OR (under control)

Feb 10 2006 San Francisco Bay Area, CA (help!)

We can return the favor by booking bands in San Diego.

AIDS Wolf and The Fugue love each other very much. They have released a seven inch record together on Blood of the Drash. It is now available. Perfect for fans of Skin Graft records, The Jesus Lizard, Black Flag, and U.S. Maple. This is a record that yr parents cannot understand. It is on red vinyl! AIDS Wolf are from Montreal. The Fugue are from New York City. They love hype! The record features lovely art by the completely famous Seripop (who pull double duty by also being in AIDS Wolf).

Hi. I'll keep this short so as to not jam up your friend's page. I'm in a band from the middle of nowhere (Ohio) some of you might like called Yale.

We love KRS, but we should mention we are certainly not much like recent Kill Rock Stars stuff. You may like it all the same, though :-) Give it a listen if you'd like and let us know what you think. We appreciate any feedback as long as you're respectful.

One more thing-- we're part of a local collective called Loft Co. putting out some great hardcore, grunge, folk-punk, and whatever genre we are. Check it out!
