Kaiser Chiefs' Nick Hodgson starts record label

Drummer is keeping busy during band's downtime

Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson has started his own record label.

Named Chewing Gum, the label's first signing are Hull band The Neat. According to Hodgson's Kaiser Chiefs bandmates Peanut and Simon Rix, the drummer is writing material for The Neat as well as producing them.

As well as revealing Hodgson's new venture, Peanut told the Daily Star that Kaiser Chiefs, currently on a band break, have vague plans to start work on new material later this year.

"We're all doing our own thing for a while but will reconvene Kaiser Chiefs probably at the end of the summer," he said.

Hodgson is understood to be looking for other new acts to sign to Chewing Gum, which he has set up with his girlfriend. Kaiser Chiefs singer (and former art teacher) Ricky Wilson is also on board, and is designing a logo for the label.

Oh, Ricky... From nme.com:

Kaiser Chiefs' frontman Ricky Wilson broke a rib while performing in the US yesterday (July 28).

The injury came as the band played ahead of Green Day at New York's Madison Square Garden.

A statement from the band explained that "Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson fell jumping between the barrier and the stage, breaking a rib in the process whilst the band had been playing".

However despite Wilson's injury, the band will not need to cancel any dates.

The statement added: "The rest of the shows will still go ahead as they criss-cross America – Ricky's had treatment and decided the tour goes on. Kaiser Chiefs end this run of dates with a Main Stage slot at Lollapalooza on August 9.

The band will also play the Reading And Leeds Festivals, which take place between August 28-30.

Wilson has a history of injuring his legs while touring in North America.

In March 2005, he broke his ankle in Seattle and then suffered ankle ligament damage while at the Austin City Limits festival in September 2007.

Hi everyone, newbie here

I'm sorry I haven't got anything to share (pretty pictures, icons, etc) and have only come here with a question:

I'm looking for an interview with Ricky & Nick where Nick says something like, "Someone I know is fighting the war in Iraq, so..." And Ricky does a Ricky Gervais impression. I can't find it anywhere! Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance :)
got chaos?

hola! longtime lurker finally posting here because I am in need of help!

I'm 18, female from Singapore, and I had a dream come true when I found out the Chiefs were coming here! Good god I neraly went bonkers. Anyway, the Meet and Greet competition involves Facebook, and I admit that I sort of do not agree with Facebook, so I didn't have a Facebook account. And the competition invloves you inviting as many of your friends as possible to watch the Chiefs, and I feel its sort of unfair. I mean even if I had Facebook (I love LJ a bit too much >__<) I wouldn't have like millions of friends to invite and so win them damned competition.

But I really do love the Kaisers. I've put up with loads of shit from one of my supposed bestfriends who totally looks down on the Chiefs' music just cause she doesn't like them, and well. Before I found the Kaisers I was a total n00b when it came to music. They're like the first band that I ever really loved and I would love to meet them in person.

What I wanna ask is, does ANYONE know what flight they're coming in on, or even just what day they're coming in on. I'll gladly stalk Changi Airport's 3 terminals to try and catch them. And also, I'm appealing to any of the Chiefs fans who live here in Singapore too! Would you like to join me in an attempt to meet them?

my name is farhana btw, and do reply to this if you anything about where and when or oh my god! just anything that could help me meet them.

thank you!
