Wild Target Co-Star Martin Freeman Enjoyed Working With Rupert Grint!

November 27th, 2009, 12:13 PM--While promoting his new film, Nativity, Rupert Grint's Wild Target co-Star Martin Freeman briefly mentioned Wild Target in an interview with BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat. While no specific details were given, here's what he had to say...

Finally, can you tell us a bit more about the movie you filmed with Rupert Grint?

Yes, it's called Wild Target. We filmed that this time last year. I don't know about a release date on that.
Rupert Grint's in it, Emily Blunt, Bill Nighy, Rupert Everett, Eileen Atkins. It's very good and it's directed by Jonathan Lynn who was behind things like Yes Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.
I've not seen it yet but I had good fun doing it. I hope it's good.

You can read the complete article here, and the coverage by Digital Spy, which also mentions our Cherrybomb Campaign, here!.

In addition, a much clearer HD version of the video featuring Rupert and his Wild Target castmates filming at the Andaz Hotel can be seen via Youtube here!

Seeing Rupert and his co-stars mentioning Wild Target in interviews for other projects, and knowing that the film has numerous distribution deals in the works, makes us hopeful that a release date won't be too far away!

New Cherrybomb Movie Clips.

An acting show-reel on Rupert Grint's Cherrybomb co-star Kimberley Nixon has just been released by vimeo.com and we are lucky that it happens to include a couple of unseen clips from the film! Both scenes are pretty lengthy so if you don't want to be spoiled you've been warned. The first scene begins about a minute and a half into it and both include Malachy! We know many of you have been working so hard on this campaign, so you deserve this! Thank you to the lovely Laura! She also uploaded them for us on youtube. You can view them here!

Laura has also sent us some screen-caps hot off of the press. View in our gallery.

Update: The clips may now be viewed separately here. ;)

Cherrybomb Screened At Italian Film Festival, Receives Great Reviews!

Rupert Grint's film Cherrybomb was screened last month at the 39th Giffoni Film Festival, which took place from 12 to 25th July in Gifonni Valle Piana, near Salerno and Naples (South Italy). The film was shown in the Generation 16 category, and although it didn't win (the award went to the film My Suicide, the same one who beat Cherrybomb at the Berlinale as well), the film received very good reviews. Many thanks to Anna who helped me translate this review by Aldo Spiniello. Here's what he had to say about Rupert:
The pair of directors don’t waste their time trying to demonstrate a strikingly original style, they have faith in the pale face of Rupert Grint (who has finally freed himself from the Harry Potter label), and they content themselves with a few simple solutions, such as the text messages materializing onto the screen, as the sign of an increasingly shorter and more painful communication.

Read the entire translation here. Thanks again Anna!

Also thanks to Laura for sending us this review, posted when Cherrybomb was screened at the Galway Film Festival in Ireland last month:
If you expect Rupert Grint to be somewhat slow and dumb just like he is in the HARRY POTTER films, you will be positively surprised. Grint is capable of being more than a sorcerers apprentice sidekick. In CHERRYBOMB he shows off his sexy and wild side.

Since this review is hosted on the Britspotting Festival website, perhaps this means that Cherrybomb will also be screened there in November! Their feature film selection is still in progress, so we will keep you updated. This is a German festival, taking place in Berlin, so German fans, get ready to see Malachy again!

Oh, and don't forget to read the latest edition of our fanzine Grintastic, and please leave your comments!

UPDATE: I have just added these new reviews to our Cherrybomb Reviews page, so visit it here!

Rupert Grint, Harry Potter And Cherrybomb Tidbits

May 20, 2009, 5:18 AM–Since there are no major Rupert Grint news this morning, allow us to mention here a few recent stories, all of them more-or-less Rupert related.

Cherrybomb: The team behind Rupert’s latest completed film, including the directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, and the composer David Holmes, is currently involved with a new project Good Vibrations, documenting the life of Terri Hooley (who masterminded the Northern Irish punk revolution). This article describes Cherrybomb as “the ’sold out, stand out’ local production that starred at this year’s Belfast Film Festival” and notes that “The local success of Cherrybomb - starring Rupert Grint, Kimberley Nixon and Robert Sheehan - has this week seen it ‘explode’ at the Cannes Film Festival - as part of the producers’ bid to sign an international distribution deal.” Sheehan and Holmes were also in Cannes last week, as mentioned here. Speaking of Robert Sheehan, he has just landed a role in a new film I Was Bono’s Doppelganger, documenting the early days of Dublin’s legendary band U2. The film is produced by Mark Huffam’s Generator Entertainment (who also produced Cherrybomb), so read more about this project here.

And don’t forget to participate in our Cherrybomb Distribution Campaign — read all about our latest project here.

The Deathly Hallows: First off, CBBC Newsround has a set report from Pembrokeshire — although Rupert is only mentioned, you may want to read the description of  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows set here. Also, Emma Watson has updated her official website, to note that they had a great time in Pembrokeshire, and than in two weeks she will be half-done filming her part for the DH! Finally, you may read here about the uniforms that Rupert and his co-stars are wearing in the HP films.

One of the Cherrybomb directors, Lisa Barros D’Sa, talked to a Belfast journalist Keith Anderson about the movie title; to be precise she revealed the original title and the reasons why they changed it to Cherrybomb! From what I can tell this is just an excerpt from a much longer feature that is to follow: so, listen to the interview here and keep stalking this page in the next couple of days!

Rupert Grint’s latest completed film Cherrybomb will be have its UK premiere at the Jameson Belfast International Film Festival in less than ten days, and ICM team’s preparations for the festival coverage are in full swing! Rupert Grint Movie Wild Target Available In July!

We haven’t heard any news regarding Rupert Grint’s latest film Wild Target in a while, except that it is still in post-production. Well, here’s a trace of hope that we’ll be hearing more about it soon! Laura has discovered an article which suggests that the film, directed by Jonathan Lynn and starring Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint, Rupert Everett, Martin Freeman, Gregor Fisher and Eileen Atkins, will be “available for delivery” in July 2009! We suppose this means that editing will be finished and the movie will be put up for sale or distribution in less than four months. So hopefully we’ll get the first Wild Target trailer around that time as well! We’ll keep you updated of course.

Source: Variety (and judging by the title of the article, it seems that Wild Target was promoted in Berlin at the European Film Market, where Cherrybomb was screened as well!)
Many thanks Laura for the heads-up!

Now, before you get your hopes up, we don't think this means it will be released in July, but just that it will be put of for sale or distribution. It will probably still be released in the Fall.
