Grey's Anatomy 5.08 - These Ties That Bind

Dr Webber: "I need you to be my ambassador today. Show Dr Dixon what Seattle Grace is all about.
I'm throwing a lot of money, a big title, and alot of research scholars at her but..."

Dr Bailey: "But what?"
Dr Webber: "She's a little different. She's a Little off... So we're wooing today."

Dr Dixon: "I brought my own lab coat, I am here to perform a heart transplant.
I do hearts. The procedure invented by Christian Barnard 1967.
I do Hearts."

Karev: "Dr. Stevens is prepping your patient for surgery. They scheduled a transplant six years ago, but the heart was too small.
So they doubled up and added a donor heart to help his own heart function. They did a piggyback ..."

Dr Dixon: "Heterotopic Transplant. Piggyback is the colloquial name for the procedure. Don't do that.
Don't do that.

Dr Dixon: "Clay Bedonie are you aware without a new heart you'll live a short life attached to a machine,
before dying a sudden and agonising death"

Denny: "See that, thats what I'm talkin' bout."

Dr Bailey: Maybe there's a compromise to be made. Umm, we could, I don't know, umm give him back the old heart to do the ritual
and give him a chance to live by putting the new heart in.

Clay Bedonie: No
Dr Dixon: no
Izzie: It doesn't work that way
Clay Bedonie: It'll still be haunted, just by a new ghost
Dr Dixon: There are rules. We have Laws. Rules are Rules and Laws are Laws. Nope.

Dr Dixon: Were the other ones taken off my case
Christina: What other ones?
Dr Dixon: The Black one, The male one, The one with the yellow hair
Christina: Not that I'm aware of
Dr Dixon: Then why are you talking to me

Photobucket Photobucket

Dr Dixon: Dr Karev make sure that we follow the Chiefs rule and return the heart to the patient after the surgery...
I'm going back to work now

Dr Dixon: Your heart had six years to rest, probably long enough time for it to repair itself,
which is why it started beating again, I've never seen this before,
I've read about it but I've never seen this before"

Clay: You have your beliefs and I have mine
Dr Dixon: "I don't have beliefs. I have science."
Clay: "Science is a belief. The belief in only what you can see and touch. I believe in more."

Dr Dixon: I only have one real area of interest the human heart i love it. I like its regularity. I know everything there is to know about it. I like its predictability. It has rules. every chamber has a function. every function has a movement. I like the colour. Its comforting. Are you familar with Asperger's syndrome Dr Bailey?
Dr Bailey: Umm, Of course, significant impairment during social situations.
Dr Dixon: I'm not good at ques like sarcasm and condescension. But I do know when I'm being manipulated and when I'm being made fun of. I don't think I like this hospital very much. I don't think I like this hospital at all.

Dr Dixon: There's a blank spot on this board, there's a surgery but no surgeon,
I would like to do surgery, but it's an amputation, I haven't done an amputation since my residency

Dr Dixon: Is your stuttering pathological and persistent or is it occasional and stress related?
Christina: What? I don't stutter
Dr Dixon: I had persistent pathological stuttering as a child, but it can be treated with rigorous speech therapy.
Christina: Yes Ma'am, thankyou
Dr Dixon: Why is this spot on the board blank?

Emma: She can come out it right? The Coma. People can do that
Dr Dixon: No she can't. I'm very sorry for your loss. But tests confirm that although your sisters bodily functions are fine,
her brain is dead, she has no thoughts, no emotions, no senses.
I'm Dr Dixon and I'll be harvesting your sisters organs if your parents agree

Christina: I'm sorry its almost four o'clock and I have to make this decision
Dr Dixon: Oh no I'm not talking about your system, I approve of your system. I was talking about the brain dead girl.
She can't hear her sister she can't feel her hands. There are patients dying right now and those organs would keep them alive.
Leave feelings out of it, leave them out of the science, leave them out of the decision making.
Because people are dying as we speak.

Dr Webber: Dr Dixon, how's your day been? You think you may have found a home here at Seattle Grace?"
Dr Dixon: Dr Yang. You tortured her today. Making her choose amongst her peers, some kind of emotional torture, is that your intention?
Dr Webber: Yes
Dr Dixon: [smirk] Have your board make me a better offer

Christina: Dr Dixon is not big on eye contact, so don't be surprised if she doesn't look at you. Also try to avoid physical contact and loud and distruptive noises
Dad: She's okay rigt? She's a good doctor?
Christina: She's amazing. You couldn't ask for a better surgeon. I'm only telling you this so you'll be better prepared

Dr Bailey: Oh. Dr Dixon. uhh. What can I do? How can I help?"
Dr Dixon: You can observe protocol when I was getting to that option. But it was just too much, too much yelling, too much touching. too much...
Dr Bailey: Ahh okay, then I'll leave you alone
Dr Dixon: No, No! I don't need alone. I need pressure.
Dr Bailey: I-
Dr Dixon: I need my nervous system repressed. constant. deep. tight pressure across large areas of my body
Dr Bailey: ...
Dr Dixon: I need you too hold me

Photobucket Photobucket

Dr Dixon: Tight. Tightly. Tighter... You're a very tiny person and I need a bigger person, I need more-

Photobucket Photobucket

Christina: Ahh. Umm. What can I do?
Dr Bailey: You can get over here and hold onto Dr Dixon
Christina: I was thinking more of a shot of thorazine

Dr Dixon: Good

Dr Dixon: Cows are squeezed tightly in a shoot before they're slaughtered.
The shoot applies intense pressure, resulting in decreased pulse rate, metabolic rate and muscle tone.

Dr Bailey: It calms them down?
Dr Dixon: It calms them down. The same principles apply to people like me.
A hugging machine is used to relax the central nervous system, slows the heart. This is good. Its working.

Christina: Oh, so we can stop now
Dr Dixon: No!
