Especial Guardiola

I just stumbled across this on Youtube completely by accident. It's a short (okay, 13 minutes) mini-documentary that chronicles what happened between Pep leaving Barcelona and returning as the manager, and the past few seasons. It features old footage, and interviews with Carles Rexach, Manuel Estiarte, various Brescia players, journalists, ex-Barça staff, Pedro, Xavi, and even co-HBIC Tito.

Bonus Guardiola press conference from yesterday:

Xavi interview, Pep's press conference, another barça bb on the way and some random stuff.

 Xavi interviewed for EMD

Xavi Hernandez (Terrassa, 25th January, 1980) may not play tomorrow against Mallorca (IT'S OFFICIAL. HE WON'T PLAY.) because of an injured Achilles tendon in his left leg that is embittering him since the end of the World Cup that so brilliantly won with the Spanish NT. The midfielder, who doesn't like to miss even a friendly, had no choice but to talk to Pep Guardiola and Vicente del Bosque to report that it was best to stop about 15 days. Force it could mean to have to regret it later.

The golden boy of Terrassa will be honored in his hometown on Wednesday for winning the World Cup last summer.

Guardiola has no doubts about players

Josep Guardiola, despite the criticism received after the game with Hercules, had said that even if this season turns out to be the worst one possible, he will never doubt his players.

FC Barcelona's players returned to training on Sunday morning as the focus turned from the Hércules reverse to the opening Champions League game against Pananthinaikos in midweek.
Pep Guardiola assured after the first defeat of the season that squad would lift themselves back up and that process began on Sunday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva as the attention turned to Europe. The coaching staff organised a physical session to keep the players feeling fresh.

Pep wants Eto'o to leave. Deja vú anyone?

Most of the squad has returned from their vacations prior to jetting off to London tomorrow for the start of preseason. Along with today's routine medicals Pep gave a press conference.

Below are his thoughts on a number of players who came up during the onslaught of questions, Eto'o being the biggest topic of discussion.

Eto'o: "Without him we wouldn't have done what we did last year. There are no football or personal or behaviour issues here. It's just a feeling I have. I think there is a need for change. Maybe I'm wrong but it's my responsibility and decision."

"There are no personal issues and I'm not here to change his character."

"After winning what we've won and after five years, I think we need to change things which my experience as a footballer tells me we need to change."

Signing Ibrahimovic if Eto'o stays: "We're rich, but not that rich...It won't happen. You don't want too many players in key positions and both of them are starters."

Ibrahimovic: "He's still an Inter player."

Sylvinho: "To be sure he might be angry with me. When he played he was great; in the Champions League final we saw that when everyone, Ronaldo, Rooney and Park was on his side."

Maxwell: "He has been at the top for years. He's played at Ajax and Inter and he will bring us a lot."
