Guillermo Amor & Andoni Zubizarreta interviews on The World Game

,In my previous entry last week, I posted a link to a video which had Maxwell speaking English on the Australian football-talk show The World Game.

This week's episode, Craig Foster (the big-name Aussie football guy) spoke to Guillermo Amor and Andoni Zubizarreta about Barcelona's youth system. This time, the only English was from Fozz's side, but there are subtitles!

Come see the interview right here!

I'm not sure if there are more interviews to come, but if there are, I'll let you know. XD

Maxwell on The World Game

K, so, in Aussieland we have a weekly (fairly well-respected) TV show called The World Game which talks about... well, you only have one guess, really.

The week just past, Craig Foster (big name in Australian soccer, former player, critic, commentator, chief analyst, etc.) had an exclusive interview with our very own Maxwell, and they have the video uploaded onto their website.

I don't think the video has an embedding option, so you can see the interview through this link here!

Craig Foster chats with Barcelona defender Maxwell about his time with the La Liga champion, playing with some of the world's best footballers, being coached by Pep Guardiola and the Brazilian national team.

And yes, it's Maxwell speaking English. Hoorah! \o/
(note that for some reason, the video shows up on my Safari browser but not my Firefox browser, but that might just be my Firefox being a bitch)

(They mentioned some other "exclusive interviews" with other Barcelona players(!!!) for next week's show, soooooo... stay tuned, y/n? :D)

Saturday 26 February

Estadi Iberostar

Ground/Capacity: Iberostar Stadium; 23,142
Manager: Michael Laudrup. Former Barcelona player, won four Liga titles with the club.
League/Position Last Season: La Liga; 5th
Current Position In La Liga: 11th
Last Result: Real Sociedad 1 - 0 Mallorca
Home Results: 7-2-3

Last Result: Barcelona 2 - 1 Athletic Bilbao
Current Position: 1st
Away Results: 10-1-0

RCD Mallorca are coming off an away loss to Real Sociedad so they're most likely wanting to impress their home crowd tonight. They're sitting in 11th place at the moment with 31 points (they have the same amount of points as Getafe but Getafe are ahead on goal difference) so a win tonight could put them up in 9th place. The last time they played Barcelona, they gave Barça their only draw at home of the season so far. Their top goalscorers this season are Pierre Webo, Gonzalo Castro and Pereira with five a piece. For this match they will be missing forward Víctor Casadesús who is out with a right muscle tear for eight to ten weeks.

Barcelona are coming off a 2-1 win against Athletic Bilbao, still holding onto first place with 65 points. There's plenty of injuries going around in the Barcelona camp with Puyol, Jeffren, Victor Valdes and Xavi sitting on the sidelines today. Dani Alves is out of this match since he picked up his fifth yellow in the match against Bilbao. After the last result with Mallorca, Barcelona are out to win and they'll be trying to do it without their midfield maestro.

Head To Head This Season:
Barcelona 1 - 1 RCD Mallorca (La Liga)

Lineup: Pinto - Adriano Pique Abidal Maxwell - Iniesta Busquets Keita - Pedro Messi Villa
Bench: Miño, Milito, Montoya, Mascherano, Afellay, Thiago y Bojan

Home results: 10-1-1

Coming off of a loss to eleventh place Mallorca, Bilbao will be ready to fight for a win tonight. They're only one point ahead of Espanyol (38, and 37 points respectively), and seven off of Villareal (45), who hold a coveted Champions League play-off position. With only four participations in the CL, they are gunning for a fifth, their first since 98-99. Llorente is their top-scorer with 13 goals, adding to a team total of 40. So far this season, most have come in the first and last fifteen minutes when the opposition is still settling in and then tiring. They will be missing Ibai Gomez and Jon Aurtenetxe due to injury as Carlos Gurpegi returns from suspension.

Barcelona are coming off of a draw 1-1 to Sporting after internationals week, still holding on to first with 62 points. Real Madrid have narrowed the gap to 2 after a 2-0 win over Levante last night. After the midweek Champions League defeat to The-Club-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named, they will be out for blood and Bilbao could end up their victims. Puyol and Jeffrén remain sidelined with injury, leaving the captaincy to Xavi, center back to Milito, and one substitute short at forward.
