Can anyone have a look at that : http://furia-roja.livejournal.com/695299.html#cutid1 and give me a grief translation?
And why are Barca called both Azulgrana and Blaugrana? Is this the same or is there a difference? I allways thought that AZUL was that kind of blue you see at Cote d'Azur ... any Barca-blue is nowhere near this kind of blue:(

Can you help?

BTW: can we have a "curious cule" tag?

It's just a picspam of teams with roughly the same colors as Barça.

Azul is Spanish, blau is Catalan, simple as that. No shade implied.

Oh! Ok! It makes sense now! Thanks a lot!

yet, I still want the "curious cule" tag!

Important part (which I'm sure you already understand):

Country: Spain
Stadium: Camp Nou
Plays in: Spanish First Division.
Founded: 29 of November 1899
Nicknames: Culés, Blaugranas, Barça.
Official Page: Barça

I'm loving that photo, though. Especially David Villa's expression juxtaposed with Cesc's. And Leo looks much taller when sitting down.

the only thing that bothers me is when folk think blaugrana means blue and red. that's not red. i don't want it to be red, ok.

Grana is a color of mineral : garnet!

catalan wiki: granat: http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granat_(color)

catalan wiki: granat(mineral) http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granat_(mineral)

English wiki: garnet (mineral) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garnet

It makes sense, the only thing I don't get is why wiki translate granat (color) to maroon in English. when you switch the language http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maroon_(color) :o

i always thought it was either crimson or maroon in english. the name of the colour in romanian is very close to the catalan one: we call it "grena" and it's basically a dark red.

I thought it would be crimson but crimson is carmesi in catalan ! :o !

This is a translation fail as garnet IS considered a shade of red and wikipedia claims that garnet comes from a middle English word that in fact means dark red. Oh well. Makes me happy, as I prefer garnet red to both crimson and maroon. It took me ages to figure it out, because the red that Barca uses is in fact garnet, os it's darker. Well, in the more traditional kit that is. :p

I know it's not the point of the post, but thanks for giving the link to that community. I barely know any Spanish, but they have oh so many lovely picspams in there!
