Hi guys!

We shall take up only a couple of minutes of your time to focus your attention on a cartoon and short questionnaire, which is part of a project, supervised by the AudioVisualTranslation Research Group, University of Salento, Lecce, Italy.

The cartoon under study is Masjanja, a Russian cartoon, created in 2001. Some Masjanja episodes have already been translated into English, either subtitled or dubbed. Our aim is to investigate the effect Masjanja produces on other target languages' audience, first YouTube users, then AVT researchers, linguists, translators...

Will this strange creature be comprehensible to the new audience? Will Masjanja's particularly Russian irony be able to go beyond the Iron Curtain?

The questionnaires, we are kindly asking you to answer, focus on the English versions of the episode “Pizza”, both subtitled and dubbed.

Could you then send your completed questionnaire to avtranslator@gmail.com.

Please, let your friends and relatives know about our project and support us by simply answering a few questions!

And if you know Russian, have a look at our community!!!

Thank you, and.... enjoy the show!

heyyyyyy everybody. =)

I joined this group about 3 minutes ago. I'm looking for a group where I can just post whatever I'm feeling. And hopefully this is a good place for that. I haven't had a LJ for like 2 years, so none of my friends update any more. I'm not too into the idea of using myspace blogs cause I don't really want them on my profile, or everyone I know reading them, so I came here. Plus it's summer, I'm bored and need something else to do.

This is my first post so I guess I'll just introduce myself.. my name is Amanda. I'm a junior in high school. Shit, which reminds me, school starts again in 18 days =( Uh, I love music. I play the guitar. I'm a vegetarian. I'm obsessed with Bright Eyes and I also really like ska music. Ummm, yeah.

I'll just leave you with that for now.

bye!

What will Winter Solstice bring in 2012? ...an instant of Karma? ...an ethereal spiral dance of the collective soul? ... cosmic judgment leveled against civilization's expanse? ...destruction of the world as we know it? ...a chance for a new start? ...the rise and the revenge of the Goddess? or simply another day in the life of paranoia? Over the past few days, I have been really upset. The idea of my aunt dying is really taking a toll on my daily life. Not that I want anything to happen to someone else, but my aunt happens to be my favorite relative. What upsets me even more is what my father said the other day. The man cannot come to grips with reality. Everything just somehow always relates to God. His sister is dying and he can still manage to say it is the will of God. Just writing this down almost brings me to tears. I am really confused.

Hi everybody,

Please help me...I am searching for participants for a research study I am conducting as part of my dissertation. My study focuses on one's relationship with one's parents and how it impacts one's sexual behavior. Participation in the study entails filling out 3 short questionnaires (takes approximately 10-15 minutes). Participation is voluntary and anonymous. I am searching for participants who

*are female students between the ages of 18 and 23
*come from intact families
*define themselves as primarily heterosexual

In order to complete the questionnaires please go to the link below:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=804242897740

I will be so thankful if you fill out my questionnaires. Please feel free to email me with any questions and/or if you would like me to send you the results of my study at yakinton@gmail.com

Thanks so much in advance,

Yakinton

Last night, Katlyn and I went to the city to get some Italian food. I cannot even remember the last time I went to an upscale restaurant. Usually I would prefer Japanese food, especially sushi, but Katlyn seems to be a big fan of Italian. I could tell how much she loved Italian food by the way she could pronounce everything on the menu.

This is for my Psychology Project at school, it's due in a couple of days so anyone who can help I'd greatly appreciate. =D

You can post your answers here, or if you'd be more comfortable feel free to email your responses to me at psych-project@hotmail.com.

The survey is anonymous, so I don't want and will not use any user names, email addresses, etc., I'm only interested in the data.

Just answer A, B, or C. Thanks Alot!

Note: There are no right or wrong answers, this is opinion only.

1. Do you feel that all humans have the capacity for bisexuality?
(A)YES (B)NO (C)NOT SURE

IF YOU ANSWERED (B) OR (C) TO NUMBER 1, SKIP NUMBER 2.

2. If you answered YES to number 1, do you feel that an individuals sexual orientation is dependent on which gender the individual is more attracted to? For example, a woman considers herself heterosexual and dates men because her sexual attraction to men far outweighs her sexual attraction to women.
(A)YES (B)NO (C)NOT SURE

3. Do you feel there is no grey area in human sexuality, that an individual is either purely heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual? For example, if an individual identifies as being heterosexual then he/she is only attracted to the opposite sex.
(A)YES (B)NO (C)NOT SURE

4. Do you consider yourself as homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual?
(A)HOMOSEXUAL (B)HETEROSEXUAL (C)BI-SEXUAL

5. Are you male or female?
(A)MALE (B)FEMALE

Now I'm trying to adjust this same idea to people who are in no/little pain, pain, & constant pain. What are the persentages that you would estimate based on your experiences of people who have: 1) no/little pain, 2) occasional severe pain, and 3) chronic pain?

Today after class, I tried to figure out why people believe in their religions so much. If someone came forward today and said, “God has been speaking to me every night for the past two years. I have written down all He has told me. The book is called the Modern Testament,” he would probably be labeled as a nut case. However, that basically is what a prophet is.

I'm at work in the lunch room eating a cheeseburger off the roach coach. I love that cart! Anyways, my manager decides to drop in and have a little chit chat. I guess by now he's figured that I spend alot of time reading and thinking about the meaning of life, which I do. He tries to measure me up by asking questions about certain views I have about my weekends, work, school, music, hobbies and beliefs. Of course, I get where he's heading towards. I saw the "Jesus heart you" fingerpainted on the dusty window of his jeep. I dodge the beliefs question like a bullet cuz that usually ends with arguments. Lots of "I don't knows" and "never really know for sure". He then asks,"What is eternity?" or something to that matter. I know what's going on. I answer,"Time goes on forever." Of course I get the... but it's not eternal. That hit me like hacky sack to the face.

By now, I've already flashed back to all the religious arguments I've ever been in, or at least, ones that I can remember. Mainly Catholics and Baptists and everything else.

So that's what I've been entering into my livejournal as of late. My views and maybe when I'm up to it... my beliefs. Now that'll be a joke worth skipping.

Today, after my morning classes, I had lunch with Katlyn again. Having lunch together has become routine now. While eating, we spoke about how boring our professor is. I would think that a class like psychology would be interesting, but some how my professor still manages to make me want to kill myself.

Yesterday, Katlyn and I spent the whole day together. She said she wanted to do something different, so I decided to take her to a driving range. Not only was it a way for us to try something new, but it also let me whack a couple of balls. The driving range helped me get rid of some extra aggression and tension. The only problem was I couldn't hit the damn things. Half the time, my swing would miss everything except the air. Katlyn was just as bad. Most of the time, we would look up at each other and simply laugh at our futile attempts to drive the balls. Now I know for the next time not to buy the jumbo bucket of balls, it is way too many.
