The cardinal sin is to ask for evidence in areas outside of science. Philosophy deals with truth. Science deals with fact. Religion invokes belief. As one would not normally associate science with belief, so it is out of context to ask for factual evidence from a religion. To claim otherwise represents the demise of fundamentals necessary to discuss science or religion in reasonably accurate terms.
