Bitches, leave! [10 Apr 2007|01:51am]

Holy cock and balls, this band rocks live!!!

As a matter of fact i nad nearly creamed my fuckin pants, when i was watching to this Masterpiece of a DVD for the 1st time!!! ( 't was 99 spins ago, which means that i had already seen for a 100 times!!! )

A long-awaited, a highly-anticipated DVD flick titled "ENRAPTURED" by One of my ULTIMATE FAVORITE BANDS OF ALL TIMES - G R A V E!

This is how DEATH fuckin METAL should sound like, this is how DEATH fuckin METAL should be played like. This Fuckers know how to deliver it, unlike GAZILLION of new-comers suddenly appeared in a recent 5-7 years or so. Which means - NO fuckin Bull-shit chit-chat between the songs, No fuckin gimmicks, No fuckin SUPA SHOW STAGE PERFORMANCE. - no! It s just a Four Legendary Guys Bringing Death Metal back from the grave and right onto the throne!

They re practically Slayer of a Death Metal.

I ve been shaking in rapid whiplash attacks each time i heard them playing the very next song during their set list., and let me tell you it was fuckin flawless one!
Guys played every single anthem of destruction and brutality from "Into the Grave" to "Burn".

The sound is amazingly clean, yet heavy as TEN TON DICK. Goddamn it s fuckin crushing!
Ola sounds just awesome! Really angry and meneacing. He even reminded me of mighty Jorgen Sandstrom on few occasions! - Great performance!
Pelle - is nothing short of a machine gun !!! I m admired with his ability to play fast but clean and hella groovy. ( too bad he had to leave the band, though...)

Beside the KILLER GIG , there s also pile of cool stuff to be found. For instance there s a great Photo Gallery , Bios and Really fun interview with Ola and Jonas

All in All - this is the one of the BEST live performances that s ever been captured by camera, by one of the most incredible bands of all times!
Its on par with Slayer's "Still Reigning" and "Deicide's "When London Burns"

Final thoughts? Ummm... - Get this fucker Right away!!!

Exhumed/Morpheus [05 Jul 2005|01:52pm]

alvefard
Before the Swedish Exhumed changed their name to Morpheus they released a demo called 'Obscurity' in 1990. If you do not do everything in your power to track this down, you might as well continue listening to Disgorge and Fleshgrind and admit you're a homosexual.

I think Wayne would agree with me on this but if I may so say so, its to be understood that the official music of this community is Nirvana 2002's "Disembodied Spirits" demo.

Also remember when thrash records had little sayings on them like "FOR BEST LISTENING EXPERIENCE, PLAY AT FULL VOLUME!!!" or "F.O.A.D.!!!!" my favorite one was sarcofago's "IF YOU ARE A FALSE, DONT ENTRY!!" What are your favorite thrash record sayings?

Reborn In Sin [15 Jun 2005|02:28pm]

alvefard
Anyone heard Horrid - Reborn in Sin? Quite a good old style Swedish DM album. It was released in 2001, but it sounds like something from 1991. If I had to make a direct comparision, I'd have to say it's sorta similar to The Nocturnal Silence, but a little more melodic overall [without sounding fruity]

I also picked up another album of theirs called 'Evils Birth' and it contains a bunch of stuff spanning their career from 1989-2002. The earliest recording is a 94 demo, but I'm guessing they formed in 89 or something. It also has their excellent 'Blasphemic Creatures' MCD from 1998 and a 1996 live show along with the demo tape.

If you joined this community in the first place, you will probably be into this band.

Morbosidad and Anal Vomit [05 Jun 2005|07:37pm]

alvefard
Everyone go track down their albums at once. Complete Sarcofago worship from both bands. Sometimes the plagiarism is a bit much, but both bands are great.

I recommend:
Anal Vomit - Demoniac Flagellations
Morbosidad - Cojete a Dios Por el Culo

Anyone else [besides Ben] into these bands?

Did anyone go to this? You can read my amazing review of it in my regular journal. Just curious who was there and what they thought the good and bad things were this year.

Rant [24 May 2005|04:34pm]

alvefard
Let me state I support good metal as much as I can. I've been into this music since 1990 and I've collected a good amount of CD's and vinyls and I've been to a good amount of shows. It's true I don't go to as many local shows as I did in the mid 90's, but I'll explain why.

I've been sorting through my Soulseek folder, organizing stuff into genres so it's not 300 gigs of stuff in one giant folder. While doing this I realized that 99% of modern Death Metal is complete garbage. I'm not saying "it's not as good as it used to be", I'm saying the bands are just pure unlistenable tripe. I don't exactly know when things changed, but they changed.. and for the worse. I'll be the first to admit my old band was one of the worst of all the Suffocation clones out there, but in my defense, I didn't write any of the music, and I quit the band when it just got too pathetic to even deal with anymore.

Gone are the days where DM bands would write SONGS consisting of a handful of solid riffs, and the drummer would play without gay triggers, and the singer would at least give some effort in fitting the music and not sounding like a cricket. Everything has become a br0000tality contest and all these bands have lost the feeling that made the music so great to begin with. What good is writing 2094820948 riffs in each song if it's 2094820948 riffs that don't mean a damn thing? Another annoying thing is how so many people bow at the feet of these "extreme" drummers who would sound like crap without their precious stale triggers. Also, if I hear another person describe a band to me by saying how "FUCKING SICK!" the vocals are, I'm going to stab them. Wow, you can sound like a cricket and burp over chug riffs. Big fucking deal.

Internal Bleeding and Suffocation clones ruin DM for me. Death Metal has become a convention for jocks to show off how fast their drummers are or how they can FuK ShIT uP iN Da PiTT and all that nonsense. Christ, if you're going to rip off a band, rip off Autopsy. Rip off old Grave if you have to. But then again, all these clowns that play this broot style now wouldn't "admit" to listening to that stuff in the past. Hell, most of them are 20 years old and weren't around for it anyways.

Looking back on 1990-1993, there are countless amazing DM albums. Who is going to look back on 2005 and say "Hey, that was a great year for metal.. The new Origin came out!" Answer is, NO ONE WILL. I know my words can't change the downward spiral of DM these days, but maybe it will make a single person decide to not form another NYDM band consisting of a "brutal" word with -ment tossed on the end of it. Spend less time worrying about your Tommy Hilfiger pants and how expensive your gold chain is, and try to capture the essense of DM when it mattered.

Digested Flesh? Give me a break.

SPAM = BAN [23 May 2005|02:46am]

I went back and deleted a bunch of garbage people posted here about things NOT RELATING to old school DM. I also removed a few repeat offenders who contribute nothing but "COME SEE MY BOYFRIENDS BAND! TEEHEE!" nonsense. Stick to the rules and we'll have no problems.

Anyway, I saw Toxic Holocaust on Friday night and they totally got me in the mood to listen to old thrash and death. Here's a playlist from Saturday and Sunday:

Evil Dead - Annihilation of Civilization
Chainsaw - Smell the Saw
Incantation - Mortal Throne of Nazarene
Believer - Sanity Obscure
Torturer - Oppressed by the Force
Cianide - Dead and Rotting

1991 [12 May 2005|12:04am]

mammernoids
A few years ago Wayne brought it to my attention that 1991 is one of the most important years for metal, especially death metal. So I wanted to compile a discography for the year here, and discuss it with anyone who wants to. These aren't necessarily albums that I like a lot, but most if not all of them were important in some way or another. For instance, I hate Immolation but most of their fans call Dawn of Possession their best one. So feel free to share why you think stuff here shouldn't be listed, or what you think should be listed and why.

Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten + Human Waste
Carcass - Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious
Death - Human
Immolation - Dawn of Possession
Morbid Angel - Blessed Are the Sick
Malevolent Creation - The Ten Commandments
Gorguts - Considered Dead
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Cannibal Corpse - Butchered at Birth
Dismember - Like An Everflowing Stream
Massacre - From Beyond
Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients
Sepultura - Arise
Grave - Into the Grave
Devastation - Idolatry
Beherit - The Oath of Black Blood
Asphyx - The Rack
Sarcofago - The Laws of Scourge
Entombed - Clandestine
At the Gates - Gardens of Grief
Unleashed - Where No Life Dwells
Bathory - Twilight of the Gods
Anacrusis - Manic Impressions
Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium
Blind Guardian - Tales From the Twilight World
Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal
Coroner - Mental Vortex
Evildead - The Underworld
Overkill - Horrorscope
Hexenhaus - Awakening
Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider
Darkthrone - Soulside Journey
Voivod - Angel Rat
Loudblast - Disincarnate
Merciless - The Awakening
Type O Negative - Slow, Deep & Hard
Bolt Thrower - Warmaster
Acheron - Rites of the Black Mass

God Macabre/Macabre End [08 Feb 2005|12:06am]

alvefard
It's amazing that Relapse would release something that's actually worth buying that doesn't sound like Nile or wiggerdeath. The God Macabre discography [which containts their Macabre End demo tape] came out a few years ago and I finally picked it up after downloading their amazing demo. It's everything that's perfect about early 90's DM, with a pinch more melody than usual and a better overall production [well, clearer anyway]

Track this down at all costs.

[ mood | tipsy ]

I managed to snag a bunch of promos from my job the other day, metal ones which they will never ever play, and one of them resulted to be a great pick! Napalm Death, the tribute album: Leaders not Followers. I didn't know that they were covers at first, i thought it was just a recent ND album that didnt get good reviews and somehow made it past me, but I was gravely mistaken. These are awesome songs which are for the most part, executed very well. The Discharge and Hirax tracks were by far my favorites! I love the high vocals too. Anyone know who screams?
