The Novel of a Thousand Pages begins with a Single Word

This is a community to encourage discipline and experimentation among writers hoping to improve their craft. Twice a week, an excerpt from a book on writing technique will be posted. Its accompanying excercises will serve as an "assignment" for members to turn in. There is no grading. Comments are welcome but not required.
