Detroit-area fans! [Nov. 27th, 2006|05:41 pm]

Is anyone going to the Magic Bag on Thursday?

I've never gone and I was wondering:
do you have to be a certain age to go?
how do you get in? just pay entry when you get there? and if so, should I get there early? how early?
how long do you think it will be, hour-wise?

any info would be super appreciated!

Has anyone else gotten the new EP, What This Town Needs?

I did and I REALLY like it! The title track has a really different sound, its more pounding and rocking, I think. Of course, all the other songs are as magnificent and beautiful as I expected. However, I'm having trouble getting the video to play on the computer, does anyone know how to make it work? or is there something or some program I need to play it off?

Also, did anyone else get it? and what do you think?!

So, I recently saw that Blanche is playing a free show in Toronto at the Drake at the end of September. Is this true, or is some other band going by the same name?

There are no details on blanchemusic.com for any current shows.

Hey guys, Stevo here. I know everybody here digs the band, otherwise they wouldn't be here. I just want to say, like I said before in the other thread, that if you want to support Blanche and show them how much you love them it's better to go see them live when they play instead of just listening to downloaded bootlegs.

Yeah, I've got a few bootlegs of various bands around my place, but how's the band supposed to know you really love them if they can't see your smiling faces while they sing right To You? While personal recording can be entertaining, nothing's as good as the real thing.

Now that Tastefest is over, they're going to be taking a little break for a while, what with Jack Raconteuring about, Feeny and American Mars (The man left the tastefest show to drive to LANSING to Play a Show RIGHT AFTER!!), Dan and Tracee's active social calender, and of course, Lisa's Jazzercize, they need a bit of a break.

The reason that they didn't play as many new songs at this last show was because people were already downloading and copying the show they did at the Ark.
It's ruining the surprise of the new album!! Shhh! Shh!!
I know January's a long way away, but be patient. It'll be worth it.

So downloading maybe isn't the best way to spread the word of Blanche. Instead, for those who don't live in or around the Detroit metro area, save your money, gather your friends, plan ahead, and pile all into your friend's car and come up and see 'em play live. THEN You'll be doing your part to make this band go down in History!

Much love,
the merch guy

Just stumbled across this community and then joined. I am a Goober fan from way back. Went to see Walk the Line when I was back in MI at Thanksgiving and was pleasantly surprised to see Goob playing Luther Perkins. I guess I need to keep up with these here boards. That is all.

You need to register for that site in order to use it - it has a capped membership but purges at least 150 inactive accounts a day ( so, if you don't get in at first, keep trying )

For Bit Torrent help, go here: http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=BitTorrent

For Flac help, go here: http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=FLAC

Lastly, no I will not put this up in mp3, nor do I wish for others to do so.

blanche at saint andrews hall, detroit, michigan 6-4-05 [Jun. 6th, 2005|03:18 pm]
Blanche fans

what a wonderful night even thought the venue was almost unbearably hot. we got downtown early, parked and ate and jacoby's before the show.
we went in around 8:30 and the front row spots were all taken so my only chance of seeing was to get side stage right in front of the speakers or hang out in the back. i chose the speakers. i hung around the left of the stage for a while, took in the first act 'sunshine doray' (the singer is feeny's wife), they were an interesting novelty act but not one i'd get into.
then the 'ditty bops' starting setting up and these girls in the front row were calling out to the them and stuff. so i tapped one girl and asked about the band since i had never heard of them before. i found out they are from california and these girls (and one guy) love this band so much they were going to fly to california to see them before they found out they were playing in detroit. so i asked them if they brought a camera and they said be because they thought they weren't allowed. so i offered to take pictures for them and e-mail them to her. she was so grateful soe let us take their front row spots after ditty bop was done playing. woohoo!!!
the ditty bops were really good by the way. here's a pic. Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

blanche had a bunch of tree branches and a piece of a fence hanging in the background. it looked like there was a tornado :P

i don't remember the set list because someone pushed us out of the way and snatched it off the stage before blanche were even done. how rude :(

but they played (in no particular order):

so long cruel world
another lost summer
do you trust me
garbage picker
a new song
who's to say
jack on fire
wayfaring stranger

memorable moments:

feeny coming out to play a few songs with 'sunshine doray'
the ditty bops thanking us for coming out even though we probably wanted to watch the basketball game
feeny talking to himself throughout the set
dan telling the crowd feeny wasn't done playing the clarinet and feeny holding the note for a long time while we all laughed and clapped
dan coming to the edge of the stage a few times. he looked giant!
tracee's bass acting up and having no bass for half of 'superstition'
tracee telling dan 'nothing is touching my bass' when he suggested taping the plug to her bass because it plug kept coming loose
tracee smacking little jacks rear with a towel when he came over to play bass
tracee breaking the drumstick during 'someday' and blaming it on little jack
tracee's bass falling to the gound when she lit a cigarette :(
tracee bringing feeny a beer because he couldn't get up :P
little jack, little jack, little jack!!! <3

a short video of 'someday' right before tracee broke the drumstick, which she blamed on little jack Click here to watch 'CIMG0675'
i have a 5 minute video of 'superstition' but it crashed my computer when i tried to upload it. if you want it i can send it through AIM (Btrfly9IRL)

It is about 28mb in size, it is the best I could compress it too with out losing the quality. The original recording was over 300mb!! lol
