1. Bored on Facebook? Upload a picture of yourself. Make sure it's a really happy one.

2. Flirt with everyone, even with people who don't really know. I know, doesn't that sound a little odd? Firstly, it makes everyone feel better, and secondly, just think of it as excellent practice. :)

3. Face it, the days of slow-moving computers remind us of actrocious memories of dial-up. However, it doesn't have to be that way. Make an effort to clean your computer's files every night, and defragmate once a month, at least. This will keep your computer in top notch shape.

4. Make an effort to read one book a week. And bookmark/set your homepage to the news so you can constantly stay informed and in the know (msnbc is a good one.)

5. Don't forget to smile at strangers and to tip your local Starbucks barista. ♥

I love this time of year. When it starts to get colder (at least here), and the holidays are just around the corner, but not close enough to induce panic. :) The weather is not so cold that you can't bear to go outside, but it is cold enough to don your scarf and coat and take a brisk walk, or cozy up with some hot chocolate and a good book.

here are some of my favorite things this November!Collapse )

Notes: Firstly, apologies for the lateness of this post and a lack of episode summary.. first I was in London and then I was sick in bed for a few days. But I'm all better now, and ready to resume normal posting! Secondly, apologies for no graphic, Photoshop is being a bitch to me tonight :( So, graphic and summary will be edited in asap. Thirdly, I'm in the UK so I have to wait for these eps to be put online, so please excuse the posts being a little late. Would people prefer it if I put up a post for discussion and then edited in my summary later, or just wait until I've seen the episode to post?

Heroes Season 3, Episodes 1 & 2 Discussion Post

Episode 1 - The Second Coming
Episode 2 - The Butterfly Effect
Aired Monday 22 September 2008 on NBC

A 2 hour introduction to the third season of the superhero drama that's filled with plot twists a plenty.. but has it managed to restore that season 1 magic?

I found these on a page ripped from an old magazine while I was clearing out my room, and thought they might be useful for some people. The 'fitness-guru' claims that you will be 'body-confident' if you follow this workout three times a week for six weeks. But don't they all say that! However, exercises like these do make a difference, and I think these ones are great for beginners.

*waves* Hi, I'm Melanie, and I'm delighted to have been chosen to write for l&l :] I'm 19, from the UK, and currently studying Japanese at Oxford University. During term time you can usually find me in Starbucks slaving away over homework, pretending to be well-bred and pretentious, both of which I am not.

My first entry's a bit on the tl;dr side, but I've been thinking a lot about revision and study tips in general, as I have exams at the start of every term :( These are all my own personal tips, so feel free to agree or disagree with me in the comments :]

The truth is.. I am a bad student. My first year started off terribly disorganised and revision time was hell. I picked up a bit in my last term, and I'm determined to make this year much better. So these are a case of do as I say, not as I do, haha.

Youtube is a commonly used website with streaming videos; it has a growing collection of anything that you could possibly imagine. And one of the best things is anyone can make their own channel and upload their own videos. I'm sure most of the members have heard or visited youtube before, but I've complied some of my very favorite youtube celebrities and videos that I watch alot.

Extra info: Hey guys! I’m Katie and one of the newly selected staff members here at L&L. I am 18 (19 in november!) and I've started college this fall majoring in nursing. I live in Tennessee, and try to find the good in everything. It’s nice to meet you all. :].

Before I begin, I want to be quite frank with you. Eyebrows are the finishing touch of your look. Let’s pretend you’re wearing this banging outfit, your trendy handbag, and a perfectly executed makeup application…but you have no eyebrows! The look is completely thrown off without some sort of finished eyebrow.

Before I started working for MAC, I struggled (and I still do, don’t get me wrong!) with eyebrows. I never filled them in, I went months without plucking, they had no shape, and they were just plain ugly! I didn’t realize what a great tool they are until I became a makeup artist. This is why it’s important to get a consultation once and a while, even if you can only afford it once a year, because artists can tell you what you’re doing right and maybe what you can improve on to feel more confident in your applications.

The basic tools you’re going to need for this are:

  • · Eyebrow powder (eyeshadow, shader, pencil, wax) & an eyebrow brush
  • · Highlight eyeshadow color
  • · A professional waxer, threader, or plucker. Or just have great experience shaping your own brows.
  • · Stencils &/or a steady hand.
