The beauty of “spacing” children many years apart lies in the fact that parents have time to learn the mistakes that were made with the older ones — which permits them to make exactly the opposite mistakes with the younger ones.

Narcissa was approaching the fourth month, and according to what she'd gone through with Draco, should have been quite ill and indisposed a great deal of the time. Other than nausea when accosted by certain odors, Narcissa had found this pregnancy quite different. When she'd examined her stomach in the mirror that morning, she was pleased that it merely showed a slight bulge, but had applied the benign potion that would insure there were no hideous stretch marks left behind. Her morning had passed much as normal, a few letters sent out to try and set things aright at the BOG and numerous ones for the Black family holdings.

Luncheon had found her dining alone for the first time in monthsCollapse )
