Harry Harrison was one of the authors I've wanted to meet--I was raised on older sci-if like him and Heinlein and Piper to a great extent, as well as fantasy like Robert Asprin and Terry Brooks.

Meeting some of these people has always been a goal of mine, but now that I've thought about it, I'm not sure how many of them go to cons and such, so I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to start on this sort of thing.

I have met random people at random cons. I ran across Frank Kelly Freas at one (I actualy got his autograph on the Queen album cover for News of the World, that one year). Two thing syou can do are to look at the guest lists for concentions, and then randomly see who you run across at them who are not on the roster, but who attend (because, after all, a lot of authors are also fans).
