EARLY SHOW 6PM EARLY SHOW 6PM EARLY SHOW 6PM

Thurs, Feb 22nd, at the Caledonia Lounge in Athens GA:

MEGABAND - the amazing live-music, real-time video game explosion. For the few who haven't seen it: Megaman II being played on an oldschool Nintendo, onstage, projected on a big screen, while Cinemechanica play the soundtrack live.

MARNIE STERN - "For a solo artist, Marnie Stern seriously stirs up a lot of noise. Layering frenetic, in-your-face guitar over half-sung/half-spoken vocals and spastic drumming, the New York-based guitar virtuoso-- who amazed audiences last fall at CMJ-- makes it immediately apparent why she's described by her label as 'The DIY Lady Shredder.'" - Pitchfork Media

BARR - Weird indie-spoken-word-posi artist, featuring on this tour Kevin Shea of Storm and Stress/Talibam!

It's five bucks, and it's happy hour drinks!!!!!

Hi. I'm Charlie. I play guitar and scream a lot in This Flood Covers the Earth, a post-hardcore band from San Diego along the lines of Botch, City of Caterpillar, Drive Like Jehu, Funeral Diner, Isis, Swing Kids, Unwound, etc. We have a Myspace account with some songs on it that you can listen to here: www.myspace.com/thisfloodcoverstheearth.

We have a split 12"/CD with fellow San Diegans Lanterns that came out this summer, and we have a new 7" coming out on Dood Records mid-December.

So far we've done a west coast tour, a southwest tour, and a full US tour, and are looking to tour the west coast again this winter... however, we've run into some snags with booking and are looking for any help that anyone could give us. This is our itinerary...

12/29 San Diego CA @ the Che Cafe, w/ Comadre, 400 Blows, Secret Fun Club
12/30 Tijuana MEX @ TBA w/ Comadre, I Am Cataclysm
12/31 Riverside CA @ the Parkview, w/ Comadre, Graf Orlock
01/01 Los Angeles CA @ ??? HELP!
01/02 Ventura / Fresno / Bakersfield CA @ ??? HELP!
01/03 San Francisco CA @ ??? HELP!
01/04 Sacramento CA @ ??? HELP!

01/05 Sonoma CA @ the Shop, w/ Brilliant Red Lights
01/06 Lower Lake CA @ Rebekah's Lodge
01/07 Salem / Eugene OR @ ??? HELP!
01/08 Portland OR @ the Posi Den, w/ Comadre
01/09 Seattle WA @ Camp Nowhere
01/10 Olympia WA @ the Witch House
01/11 Joseph OR @ the Hydrant
01/12 Reno NV @ TBA
01/13 Las Vegas @ ??? HELP!
01/14 Phoenix / Tucson AZ @ ??? HELP!

01/15 San Diego CA @ TBA, w/ Capistrano

If you think you can help us out in any way, shape, or form, we'd really appreciate it. We can be contacted via our Myspace, our email (thisfloodcoverstheearth@gmail.com), or via this medium as well.

Thanks very much for reading.

Kill Rock Stars Retires 5RC
2006-10-23 10:38:30.110,
Story by: Alex Billig

Shortly after announcing the impending departure of label founder Slim Moon for his new post at Nonesuch, Kill Rock Stars has confirmed that its avant-garde offshoot, 5 Rue Christine, will soon be closing up shop indefintely. KRS vice president Maggie Vail explained the situation to Pitchfork, saying, "We're calming down a little bit and not putting out so many records. We'd like to focus on our bands more."

While this decision may allow KRS to provide its bands with additional attention, 5RC's retirement brings into question the future of artists like the Advantage, Excepter and the Robot Ate Me, who are all currently on its roster. At this stage, Vail is still uncertain about the paths each of its artists would take. While some acts have already arranged to switch over to KRS, others may choose, or be forced, to seek deals with other labels.

In the 10 years since its creation in 1997, 5RC has established a name for itself by releasing innovative records by boundry-pushing bands like Hella, Deerhoof and Xiu Xiu. Before becoming "dormant," the label plans to finish out their 2006/2007 plans, which include releasing new full-lengths from the Punks, BARR and Marnie Stern.

Hey guys, we're more than a week into tour and still looking for some help...

This is for This Flood Covers the Earth and Lanterns.
Flood = screamy epic post-hardcore, hear them here: myspace
Lanterns = loud indie guitar rock, hear them here: myspace

Basically, we're looking for anything, and I will stress ANYTHING at this point. We have our own PA with us, if you could just give us access to your living room or basement or garage for an evening and invite your friends over and let us pass a hat around and try and sell some shit, that would be amazing. A lot of people have been really great and helped out, but a ton of other people flaked on us and pretty much fucked us while we're a thousand miles from home. Any help at all would be amazing, so if you can, please hit us up.

We leave soon for tour and we need some help... [Jul. 6th, 2006|09:24 pm]

Hello there.

I'm about to leave on tour with my band, This Flood Covers the Earth, and our friends, Lanterns. We have a split record that just came out on History Major Records, and were hoping to play some shows this summer in support of it around the country.

Flood plays epic, heavy post-hardcore, some influences: Botch, Isis, Drive Like Jehu, Unwound, Mission of Burma, Funeral Diner. Lanterns plays spacey, aggressive indie rock, some influences: Pavement, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Meneguar, Cap'n Jazz, My Bloody Valentine, Heroin. Both bands have Myspaces with some sounds on them, so you can hear for yourself, Flood's is here, Lanterns' is here.

We could really use some help on some of these dates, and honestly, we'll play pretty much anywhere, as long as it's all ages (or [grudgingly] 18+). This includes a DIY space, a club, a bar, your living room one night, your garage in the afternoon, your basement at four in the morning... well, you get the idea. We don't need guarantees or to be fed or to be given places to stay, we just need places to play, and we really will take anything and will just be stoked to each play for twenty minutes and make some new friends with the dozen or so people that trickle in and pay attention to us for two-thirds of an hour total.

We can and will offer and honor any and all show trades in San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles. We try to be upstanding, role model-worthy young men.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for your time. Hopefully we'll hear from you and see you on the road this summer.

Tour Contacts? [May. 18th, 2006|02:22 pm]
5 Rue Christine
thereceivingend
Hi there. I'm trying to book a summer tour for my band, This Flood Covers the Earth, and our friends, Lanterns. Flood sounds like mid-'90's Ebullition crossed with early-'00's Level Plane, with some doom metal and indie stuff thrown in. Lanterns are like Drive Like Jehu covering My Bloody Valentine songs. Flood's Myspace is here, Lanterns' is here. Recently, we've been having some trouble throughout the midwest, New England, and the south, and were wondering if we could get some help as far as contacts go.

States we need help with:

Connecticut
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Nebraska
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minneapolis
Ohio
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Tennessee
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin

So yeah, if you book shows, or know people who do, feel free to get in touch with us, either through this medium, or by emailing us at thisfloodcoverstheearth@gmail.com, or by shooting us a line on Myspace. For those interested, yes, we can offer show trades in San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles.

Thanks!
