It's looking like I'm seriously gonna have to get a DS. Like... right now. I'm gonna save up and get one ASAP.

I mean, can you imagine? Eating some delicious hamburger and playing Mario Kart DS at the same time? Can you say "Dream Come True?"

Ok, all joking aside, I think this is a really great idea.

See you at McDonald's!

EB-Gamestop Layoffs [19 Oct 2005|11:50am]

This is very true. There's a GS and across the street there's an EB. My gf works at EB. I personally think that this is very bad for us, the consumers. Having EB and GS made competition. Now that there's only one, there's gonna be a monopoly. I think so, at least.

Nintendo DS owner have no fear!! (take a lesson, Sony) [19 Oct 2005|08:42am]

Nintendo fixes DS with one bad pixel
Posted Dec 7, 2004, 10:21 AM ET by Dan Wu

Setting an example for any manufacturer that sells anything with an LCD screen on it, Nintendo is actually following through on its promises, and is repairing or replacing any new DS portable game console with even a single dead pixel (most manufacturers won’t offer a replacement or repair unless there is a minimum of three or four dead pixels). Even more amazing, some people are reporting that it only took a warranty fulfillment center four days to repair and return their DS to them.

Dead pixel problems on new PSPs?
Posted Mar 24, 2005, 1:08 PM ET by Joshua Fruhlinger

The cries have been heard, and there are many. It seems Sony pushed those 1 million PSP out to the US a little too quickly, with reports are swarming in regarding units with dead pixels. Some PSPs seem to have it worse than others: some have large groups of dead dots and even entire rows or columns. The unit we bought last night had a big dead one right smack in the middle of the screen. The folks at the Sony store were kind enough to replace our unit quickly and quietly, but reports from some online vendors are less promising. We’ll keep you updated as this unfolds.

oh why do i chuckle when things befall Sony? I guess because they're an electronics giant and i watched that movie "Corporation". So i don't give a rats ass about them :/
Now I'm posting this (again) as it seems like old news...
But when i googled "nintendo news", something i regularily on a weekly basis, this article resurfaced. heh.

More REV concepts [28 Sep 2005|11:48am]
[ mood | cheerful ]

The article is a good read, ironic in ways really. Its a new system and yet there's so much oldschooling you can do with it. It brilliant its almost like the original NES but released today (er, next year). The impact seems to be much the same. I look forward to offical Nintendo commercials and how they'll market this baby. Man, I get so excited! I'm like a kid again! I really hope this whole add-on concept stuff really takes off. There are so many different add-on you can make. some examples. Add-ons benefit both Nintendo and gamer. The best news tho is that the nunchuck ships with the rev :D Phew!

Winner [22 Sep 2005|02:45pm]

The STAR of our first contest goes to:

Not only was he the only one who submitted an idea (though there was no deadline) he submitted more than I asked for. Another new layout. It's the best I've seen so I couldn't wait any longer for others to submit. It had to be updated immediately.

So as soon as I get a Nintendo-related bio and photo from BAHNHOF, he will be the first member initiated as a "STAR".

STARs are members who win contests in this community and have a profile/photo of them in the communities profile.

Though I am a moderator, and usually they do nothing but watch over their community, I must clean my room!

Haha, have fun koopas!

nin_10_do CONTEST #1 [20 Sep 2005|03:05am]

This is the first contest created for this community.
I hope many members participate.

Due to the new layout / look of this community.
I want new "comment titles".
The links that take you to leave and review comments to posts.
The old titles MUST GO!

They must be in "code" form so I can just simply add them into the "Overrides" box and see how they work before I name a winner.
The most creative set of titles wins.
One Winner.

First member to have his/her own bio in the community's profile.
This "bio" will include a photo of them, along side a paragraph or so on why they love Nintendo.

There are more contests to come, so soon there may be quite a few bios on the profile screen.

Nintendo's Genre Innovation Strategy: Thoughts on the Revolution's new controllerCollapse )

You say you want a VRevolution [19 Sep 2005|03:39pm]

Has anybody realized that this brings virtual reality that much closer to mainstream gaming? I recall back in like 96-97ish when the whole VR craze was going on. There was an exhibit at the Science Center in Seattle and you wore a huge nerdy headset that looked around.

But guess how you moved? They gave you a little one handed remote type device that responded to different motion sensors positioned around you thats how it kept track of your arm motions. If I recall correctly there was a button on the device that moved you forward and backward.

It was insanely primitive and underpowered even by 96-97 standards, I remember a hanggliding simulator that "looked" like crap, but was so cool. There was always a huge line for it. The graphics were blocky and shite. The controller was hard to work but just the idea of being a part of the new wave of gaming made us come back for more. Nintendo is already promising us unrivaled control...

In any case, the more I think about N5s controller (I think we should petition Ninty to make that the official name) the more I think they are trying to bring us the virtual reality that was promised nearly 10 years ago.

Its so easy to see another sleek hardware piece to the N5 puzzle. It would be simple, minimalistic, cool, sleek just like the console box and controller. The design of these pieces is impeccable. I can almost envision a soft off-white eyepiece set that completely denies and shuns the old VR headset stigma.

Since video games went from 2-d to 3-d, there really hasnt been much of a change. Undoubtably the graphics got better, gameplay issues were ironed out, we got more buttons, we got online play... But can anyone argue that the X360 is really just a Dreamcast with bigger numbers?

But my point is that for the first time in maybe the last ten years of gaming we have a real change. A real shift in what we expect from our consoles. Nintendo is getting us ready for the "virtual console" that already features one part of the old virtual reality setup... How long until we see the next step and are shown the eyewear?

If so, I hope it doesnt even look like a VR headset at all. I remember a few years back there was talk about these glasses that let you pick up tv signals yet you could still see the world around you. Basically the image on them was transparent enough that you could see through it and still do your grocery shopping.

Something like that would be perfect. As long as it wasnt cumbersome and basically looked like eyeglasses or shades it would be perfect for me. It shouldnt be too hard to do, although I dont remember if the glasses I read about were an actual product or simply a concept. In either case, looking at the other two pieces of hardware I have no doubt in my mind that any theoretical eyewear headset will look anything less than stunning.

And in 2020 the N6 will deliver matrix spine ports and we shall be completely and utterly immersed in our games. ~_^ Thank you, Nintendo. I know we are inching closer and closer to that promised land of Virtual Reality. Sony and MS are too traditional and conventional to even try. They want to throw the smokescreen of photorealistic graphics and make us think thats the real goal. Prove them wrong.

The Viva.

IMPORTANT: NOTE FROM MOD [19 Sep 2005|04:18pm]

I must admit that I have neglected this site for a year or so.
But as the one who created this group, I feel that I must swallow my guilt and make things better.

The current layout is pretty OLD.
We have to change things around here.
(As long as I can remember the password.)

PLEASE leave comments here telling me what you'd like to be apart of the new layout.
Colors, photos, etc..
