Looking for Thread [Friday
January 8th, 2010 at 11:06pm]

First I want to apoligize for posting this under a reply to the December's crochet challenge.  I'm going to try this again.

I am working a knitted project right now, but starting a nice crochet arron style afghan next week. It's my knitted project that may run out of thread and I need to identify it to find if it's still available. It's old and probably has a dye lot, so I'm not hoping for much.

If anyone knows of a place where I might get help identifying it, please let me know.

It's a horrible raspy thin variegated thread. Maybe it's off white or cream iwth little brown, red, green, and blue speckles in it. Mostly off white or cream colored though. This feels very course and is in the lacy or fingering weight size.

I can give a photo, but I thought I would just ask first a place it can be identified, if not here. If I get lucky here it would be nice, but really I was scoping for some urls.

Creepy Cute magic circle [Sunday
January 11th, 2009 at 08:06pm]

I am trying to make a friend the Ninja from the Creepy Cute book, and I can't seem to get started. I'm not understanding the directions from the book. Do I work the stitches into the loop and is it a single stand or double strand? I can't seem to get it to work.

Crochet lessons, any tips? [Wednesday
May 28th, 2008 at 01:19pm]

[ mood | crazy ]

Has anyone ever given crochet lessons before? I just posted my first crochet lesson ads and I'm hoping I'm doing this right...

If you've ever given lessons before, what do you wish you had known when you started?

If you've TAKEN lessons before, what do you wish they had done?

I've taught friends, but never had to actually be an authority before. I have years under my belt, but nothing official.

Jayne hat? [Thursday
March 13th, 2008 at 09:31pm]

Hi! I belong to a couple of these communities, and I need some help. Awhile back, someone posted a pattern for a Jayne hat (from firefly). I looked everywhere, and now I can't find it, which is a problem cuz a couple guy friends of mine want me to make them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone here ever sold anything on Etsy.com? I'm tempted to try but I'm not quite sure if the site is really popular or stuff like that.

If anyone knows a link for a pattern for a large panda bear using single crochet stitch, could you please give it to me? That would be awesome if you could.

Thank you!

A new hat [Tuesday
January 29th, 2008 at 04:32pm]

[ mood | busy ]

Over a year ago, I crocheted myself a very cute little beret. My hair's gotten considerably longer since then, and the hat barely fits now [I've gained an inch around my head due to the thickness of my hair]. This, of course, prompted a new hat.

And here it is, slightly more relaxedCollapse )

The really interesting part about these hats is that they're made of the same yarn weight with the same hook and off the same pattern, but due to how they work up and drape, one looks slightly more fitted then the other. I love 'em both.

Sweater 3.0-Victory! [Monday
November 26th, 2007 at 10:18am]

[ mood | accomplished ]

Ladies and gents, I've made a sweater.

And here it isCollapse )

There's work to be done, mostly in the sleeve region, but it's a sweater, and it doesn't look half-bad. Victory? Yes. A better victory with a bit of tweaking? Oh, my, yes.

SCARF! [Saturday
September 1st, 2007 at 01:57pm]

I just made this scarf and I LOVE IT. It was soo easy to make and it only took two dedicated evenings to finish. It was the first time I crocheted a scarf vertically - I thought it would take so much longer this way, but it was actually a breeze. I used some spangley yarn and altered stitches for variance.

Quick question: [Thursday
July 12th, 2007 at 11:20am]

I inherited a palm pilot from my dad, and decided I didn't like the case for it, so I made one (my photography skills suck, so no pics, sorry...). Anyway, it looks good, and is handy, but it doesn't really protect the palm from anything but dust. My question is actually two questions:
1. What is the best way to line this case with some sort of padding?
2. What is the best type of closure for it? (I thought about a button, but it was an afterthought, so I didn't think to make a button hole)

-Thanks for the help!

Crocheted Items for a 16 y/o Male [Saturday
July 7th, 2007 at 09:12am]

I want to make something, via crochet, for my 16 year old nephew for Christmas that wont get him beat up.

I've already made him a hat and scarf. I don't really have the time to make him an afghan although I'm sure he needs it. I don't want to make a sweater either, I don't think that I'm at that I have the time or patience for one right now. I just finished two large afghans.

Any suggestions? Any patterns I should check out?
