RIP
I realize this has nothing to do with ZB but it does have to do with a co-star in a series of films she stunted for.

Rest in peace, David Carradine (Kill Bill)

A bit of old gossip, and a question.

Gossip first, from May 11:
"At Sale St bar on Tuesday night, Kiwi stuntwoman Zoe Bell was Spy-ed holding court with a large group of friends who gathered to farewell her before she heads back overseas."
[Source]

And the question:
So comparatively, how much more famous is Zoë Bell in New Zealand than in America? My sense of her celebrity is totally skewed from being a fan, but most of my friends don't know who she is, except for the handful that saw Grindhouse. And now she's in ads for Telecom's XT network, along with Richard Hammond, who I think is relatively well-known even outside of the UK for Top Gear. Thoughts?

Stuntwoman Zoe Bell has joined the big-spending ad campaign for Telecom's XT Network.

"At one stage they showed two upcoming Telecom ads - both with Richard Hammond, one featuring NZ stuntwoman Zoë Bell and the other a jetsprint driver."

If anyone comes across video or pictures of ZB's TV ads please share! Thanks!

Why only for NZ?

Can I play shows if I live outside of New Zealand?

No. The shows have licence rights cleared only for within New Zealand.

A few years ago, finding anything on ZB was pretty hard. Now-a-days I just sit back and smile seeing how much has changed in regard to her popularity on the net. I can swear it used to be maybe 20 pages or less, now? Gaah, she's everywhere! :)

It's pretty nifty when even Google pushes AoD to the top of the search results:

Somehow you can't help but think that if she were a man with a great body and action skills, she'd already have a couple of starring roles under her belt (see: Jason Statham).

--

I know we don't do gossip, but this looks like it correlates to the recent issue of No Magazine - Jezebel's comment section from above posted article:

The latest issue of the magazine I edit in NZ is about to come out with Zoe on the cover. She is really an awesome woman... utterly down-to-earth, real and totally inspiring.

She also has another very interesting project scheduled for the future which she couldn't yet talk about much, but is a feature project involving her in a female action-role role aimed at tweens. Sounds like just what's needed.

Screen Actors Guild rejects latest offer by Hollywood producers
Talks break down over start, length of new contract
Dispute could shut down of production of movies, TV shows

Leaders of the Screen Actors Guild have rejected the majors' take-it-or-leave-it offer, two days after talks on a feature-primetime deal fell apart over the issue of the length of the new deal.

SAG announced Saturday night that 73% of its national board had spurned the "last, best, final" offer following a day-long meeting at the guild's headquarters in Hollywood.

I happened to find these via flickr today. I'm wondering if this is just a marketing art project for some student or if this is indeed a graphic artist's post dump for finished work. I'm in the process of trying to find out. In the meanwhile, enjoy the following images!

I'm going to get slightly nerdy here, but this post is mostly me theorizing about the release date for Angel of Death.

According to Yahoo! News, Sony is restructuring its Crackle website, which will be releasing Angel of Death in segments as a webseries. Crackle will release a new webseries each quarter, and "each of those four "seasons" will be anchored by one main attraction beginning in the first quarter, with "Angel of Death," an action thriller from comic-book artist Ed Brubaker."

According to this Sony corporate fact sheet, their fiscal year ends March 31, 2008. So their first quarter for 2009 will begin in April.

Will we have to wait until April for an Angel of Death release? Obviously more goes into a release date than just matching it to the right quarter. Zoë could save a schoolbus full of children in February, hastening the release of the series to capitalize on her name, right? Right?

Wheew! So I have spent the last month on a film set working as Drew Barrymore's stand in on the movie WHIP IT. A film about Roller Derby!
I have been working along side my personal heroes Drew, Zoe Bell, Juliette Lewis, Ellen Page , and the derby girls from Detroit, Atlanta, Austin, and Los Angeles.

It has been a wonderful and insane experience.
I am so thankful to have been a part of all of this, and I can't wait to see the movie. I will make sure to remind all of you!
They used me as an extra as well, so you might see me in the crowd.

Detroit rock & roll hotspot 313.jac at Jacoby's has hosted the best up-and-coming acts for over a decade, seeing all sorts of happenings like Jack White leaping onstage with the Waxwings to sing backup and Kid Rock holding court.

On Friday, August 9, 2008, Jacoby's played host to a particularly unique happening as Hollywood invaded in the form of the cast of the roller derby film "Whip It", including star/director Drew Barrymore, stars Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis, Eve, Zoe Bell, indie popster Landon Pigg and Jimmy Fallon as well as many derby girl cast members.

Following sets by Detroit-area acts I, Crime, Rouge Satellites, and Satori Circus, an impromptu jam broke out as Juliette Lewis & Eve took to the stage and performed the disco anthem "I Will Survive" backed by I, Crime guitarist/vocalist Jennie Knaggs and drummer Charlie McCutcheon (who took over from Zoe Bell's initial stint behind the kit). After a wobbly start, it turned into a unique performance that made up in fun what it lacked in polish.

Shot & edited by: Peter Schorn

Vocals: Juliette Lewis, Eve
Guitar: Jennie Knaggs
Drums: Zoë Bell, Charlie McCutcheon

THERE WILL BE TWO CALL TIMES FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 5TH. 8:30AM AND 3:30PM.

Here’s your chance to be a part of Hollywood, right here in Detroit, Michigan!

Flower Films is looking for non-paid movie extras in the Detroit area on August 5th, 7th and 8th for the Drew Barrymore directed film Whip It! The first 100 people to show up each day up at the location below will be cast as roller derby spectators.

Here’s how it works:

You must be between the ages of 18 and 40 with a valid drivers license or government identification card. Each day prior to August 5th, 7th and 8th, you must log back into this(DREWBARRYMORE.COM) website where the following days ‘call time’ will be posted. The first 100 people that show up at each ‘call time’ will be shuttled to the movie set where you will be placed as extras in various scenes in the movie.

You must come in appropriate ‘wardrobe’. The scenes you will be in take place at an Austin Texas Roller Derby bout, so think hip and cool, youthful and fun. NO white shirts or white shoes. Think Rockabilly, Punk Rock and Tattoos. Make sure that you do NOT wear any clothing with corporate logos or characters such as ‘Nike’, ‘Gap’, ‘Abercrombie & Fitch’, ‘Snoopy’, etc. Long pants and closed toe footwear is also required. You should bring a few extra looks to ensure being placed in the film. Hats, belts and tights are all good, but nothing too trendy, think underground.

You may be asked to work up to 10 hours. You should eat before you get here, but you will be served a hot meal if you work beyond 8 hours.

Parking is located at the corner of Huber St. and Mt. Elliott St. Entrance to the lot is just off of Huber St on Pease St. From there you will be shuttled to the set.

No photographs allowed. Anyone seen taking a photo with any type of camera or cell phone will be asked to leave the film immediately. Thank you so much!
