Wheew! So I have spent the last month on a film set working as Drew Barrymore's stand in on the movie WHIP IT. A film about Roller Derby! I have been working along side my personal heroes Drew, Zoe Bell, Juliette Lewis, Ellen Page , and the derby girls from Detroit, Atlanta, Austin, and Los Angeles. It has been a wonderful and insane experience. I am so thankful to have been a part of all of this, and I can't wait to see the movie. I will make sure to remind all of you! They used me as an extra as well, so you might see me in the crowd. SOURCE: http://lily-larue.livejournal.com/52720.html

Detroit rock & roll hotspot 313.jac at Jacoby's has hosted the best up-and-coming acts for over a decade, seeing all sorts of happenings like Jack White leaping onstage with the Waxwings to sing backup and Kid Rock holding court.
On Friday, August 9, 2008, Jacoby's played host to a particularly unique happening as Hollywood invaded in the form of the cast of the roller derby film "Whip It", including star/director Drew Barrymore, stars Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis, Eve, Zoe Bell, indie popster Landon Pigg and Jimmy Fallon as well as many derby girl cast members.
Following sets by Detroit-area acts I, Crime, Rouge Satellites, and Satori Circus, an impromptu jam broke out as Juliette Lewis & Eve took to the stage and performed the disco anthem "I Will Survive" backed by I, Crime guitarist/vocalist Jennie Knaggs and drummer Charlie McCutcheon (who took over from Zoe Bell's initial stint behind the kit). After a wobbly start, it turned into a unique performance that made up in fun what it lacked in polish.
Shot & edited by: Peter Schorn
Vocals: Juliette Lewis, Eve Guitar: Jennie Knaggs Drums: Zoë Bell, Charlie McCutcheon

THERE WILL BE TWO CALL TIMES FOR TUESDAY, AUGUST 5TH. 8:30AM AND 3:30PM. Here’s your chance to be a part of Hollywood, right here in Detroit, Michigan! Flower Films is looking for non-paid movie extras in the Detroit area on August 5th, 7th and 8th for the Drew Barrymore directed film Whip It! The first 100 people to show up each day up at the location below will be cast as roller derby spectators. Here’s how it works: You must be between the ages of 18 and 40 with a valid drivers license or government identification card. Each day prior to August 5th, 7th and 8th, you must log back into this(DREWBARRYMORE.COM) website where the following days ‘call time’ will be posted. The first 100 people that show up at each ‘call time’ will be shuttled to the movie set where you will be placed as extras in various scenes in the movie. You must come in appropriate ‘wardrobe’. The scenes you will be in take place at an Austin Texas Roller Derby bout, so think hip and cool, youthful and fun. NO white shirts or white shoes. Think Rockabilly, Punk Rock and Tattoos. Make sure that you do NOT wear any clothing with corporate logos or characters such as ‘Nike’, ‘Gap’, ‘Abercrombie & Fitch’, ‘Snoopy’, etc. Long pants and closed toe footwear is also required. You should bring a few extra looks to ensure being placed in the film. Hats, belts and tights are all good, but nothing too trendy, think underground. You may be asked to work up to 10 hours. You should eat before you get here, but you will be served a hot meal if you work beyond 8 hours. Parking is located at the corner of Huber St. and Mt. Elliott St. Entrance to the lot is just off of Huber St on Pease St. From there you will be shuttled to the set. No photographs allowed. Anyone seen taking a photo with any type of camera or cell phone will be asked to leave the film immediately. Thank you so much! VIA: http://www.drewbarrymore.com/

Emmy nominations are out. I have...a lot to say about them, but not here. Here are the nominations for Outstanding Stunt Coordination: Chuck • Chuck Versus The Undercover Lover • NBC • From College Hill Pictures, Wonderland Sound and Vision in association with Warner Bros. Television Merritt Yohnka, Stunt Coordinator Criminal Minds • Tabula Rasa • CBS • ABC Studios and CBS Paramount Network Television Tom Elliott, Stunt Coordinator CSI: NY • Playing With Matches • CBS • CBS Paramount Network Television in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television Norman Howell, Stunt Coordinator NCIS • Requiem • CBS • A Belisarius production in association with CBS Paramount Network Television Diamond Farnsworth, Stunt Coordinator Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles • Gnothi Seauton • FOX • C2 Pictures in association with Warner Bros. Television Joel Kramer, Stunt Coordinator[ Source] Of note: Norman Howell did stunts in both Death Proof and Planet Terror. Also of note: are there any female stunt coordinators for TV shows? I know they're pretty rare on the ground overall; I wonder if maybe there might be more opportunity in television than in movies for women to coordinate, especially if you end up working long-term on a show in which there are a lot of women who do stunts, i.e. Shauna Duggins. She was Jennifer Garner's double on Alias and now coordinates for Brothers & Sisters. I also think it's interesting of the list that all of the shows are ones that don't primarily feature men doing stunts (as in a show like, say, The Unit). In fact, in Chuck and Terminator, you're more likely to find women doing the stunts. Encouraging?
