Rules and Guidelines
latest update: 9/1/07

Starting round 2, this exchange will be open to all media: 2-D and 3-D art (pin ups, comics, knitting, sc), writing (long or short prose, poem, play, etc.), music (remix, original composition, sheet music, etc.), image manipulation (icons, wallpaper, banners), animation, and whatever you can think of. If you're unsure, just contact the moderators.

During each round, the exchange is open for participation only at specific times. We will be following a strict schedule at every step in order to make the event run more smoothly for the mods and the participants. This means if you miss any of the deadlines, you might have to wait for the next round. Exact dates and schedule will be posted in the announcement for each round.

Posting access for all participating members is available only during certain times per round, mainly announcement of a new round, sign up period, and display week. Rest of the time only moderators have posting access to the community although mods will always be accessible to the members of the community by email for questions, comments, disputes, etc.

Please fill out the sign up sheet during sign up week. What you write on the form will determine the match up. We want to find the best match for each person so be as specific as you can, especially if you have particular requests/likes/dislikes.

* Note to those who want banners: Please specify the purpose and the size of banners you want. You can also specify text and character(s) you want on the banner. You can also request a LJ set which would inclue an icon, a journal header, and a friends only Banner that match.

* Note to those who want remixed music: The artist requests the following: Chose a song from the Zelda universe that you want remixed. You can also suggest a mood to work towards. The artist's 600+ songs collection doesn't have songs from any of the Gameboy or DS games

Each person receives three requests. Even though you are required only to complete one request, you can draw/write/create for the other requests given to you as well or even incorporate multiple requests into one gift. For example, you can write three stories, one for each request or you can write one story covering all of the requests.

Please put as much effort as possible into the gift. The final picture should look complete and polished. For example, very rough, five-minutes sketches or doodles on notebook paper do not count as "finished." Look at your picture and ask the questions "Will I be happy if I received this drawing from someone else? Anything else I need to do to make this picture look more polished?" If you are unsure, feel free to contact the mods.

The drawing and writing for the exchange must be your own work, and if we catch you plagiarizing or stealing someone else’s work, you are banned from participating in the exchange. A note to people making sprites, pixel art, icons, music, banners, etc.: if you use any bases or other materials that you did not make yourself, you must cite the source and give proper credit to the creator.

FANARTS Art works can be toned, black and white, colored, done in traditional media, digital, or mixed. It can be a pin up, splash page, comic in any style, pixel/sprites art (if you use any bases, you must state the source), etc.

GRAPHICS/IMAGE MANIPULATIONS For icons you must make between 10-15 icons and don't forget to give proper credits for bases or material used. You can incorporate old icons into the request, but please try including more new icons than old ones. You should make three to four banners and/or one to two wallpapers. Banner size/purpose will be determined by the recipient in his/her sign up sheet.

WRITINGS You can write poems, drabbles, fiction (long and short), plays, critical analysis, reviews, etc. We are currently discussing setting a minimal word limit to 1000 for prose, but this is not a hard set rule as long as you put effort into your piece and the finished writing is polished. We prefer quality over quantity.

Writers will require to have their work beta-read before submitting it to the exchange. It is up to you finding your own reader, but if you cannot find someone, volunteers in the group can help.

MUSIC For the musicially-inclined members of the exchange, you can submit any music related to the series: sheet music, original compositions, remix, etc. The songs will be limited to 4 to 5 minutes max for ease of hosting and downloading.

It is imperative that you complete your work on time. If you are unable to complete the request, you must contact the moderators as soon as possible so we can find a replacement artist who can take over your assignment. If you do not finish your assignment, you will not be able to receive your gift.

Please remember that prior to display week, you are not allowed to show your finished work publicly anywhere so that the surprise isn’t ruined for the receiver of your present. After display week, you are free to cross post your work anywhere you wish.

Lastly and most importantly, have fun~
