Make sure that if you've been accepted into the community and plan to submit sooner or later, please please please fill out this thing about whether or not you want a banner. Because if you don't want a banner when you win, it's easier to just not make one for you. XD

Eh screw that, now I make it harder for you 'cause now you have to tell me on the winners' post whether or not you've won. :P

(The reason why this community has closed membership is because there have been issues with multiple accounts voting for one icon in the past, and I'm just sick of ranting about that, so now all 'applications' to join are run through the mods so we can make sure you're not a fake account. Also, if you 'applied' but haven't been approved yet and want to submit an icon, go ahead, we'll still allow it. It's only the voting part I'm worried about...)

Hello and welcome to zelda_awards, a community for Zelda icon awards. It is a weekly icon contest, where a theme will be selected, people will make an icon pertaining to the theme, and more people will vote.

And no, you don't have to be an icon maker to join. :D

R U L E S

1. You can only submit one icon per theme.
2. That icon must be made by you - if I or someone else finds out that it wasn't by you, well... you'll be in trouble. Yes.
3. All icons must pertain to the Legend of Zelda in some way.
4. You cannot advertise which icon is yours in your journal or anywhere else to get people to vote for you. Showing someone your icon is considered advertising it.
5. The icon must be on a site that allows direct linking. In other words, if I link to it, it has to show. If it doesn't, well, it won't be part of the contest, because no one can see it, right?
6. All icons must follow standard LiveJournal rules - no larger than 100x100 pixels and 40KB.
7. I will accept icons after the deadline, as long as not that much time has elapsed yet. But please try to get them in as soon as you can, just because it makes life easier. (After the deadline means more icons, possibly. :) Also, the way I see it, if you submit something after I've already put the voting post up, you're automatically disadvantaged because most people vote within the first hour or so of posting, so only the later voters will see your icon, as I don't announce an addition, which I think of as a trade-off for getting your icon in late. Heh.)
8. When you submit an icon, your post with the submission will be screened so that only I will know who submitted it.
9. Icons that you submit don't have to be new, as long as they pertain to the theme of the week. It still must follow the standard LiveJournal rules, however. Also, you cannot have previously submitted it to another icon awards community or have posted it to your own journal or icon journal. You also cannot have used it as one of your userpics for a prolonged period of time (prolonged being, oh, over a day). XD (In short, if you made an icon a while ago but it's just been sitting on your hard drive, that's fine, but the moment you put it up at a community or as a userpic or whatever, it is no longer eligible.)
10. No fanart icons allowed, unless the fanart is your own work. This is mainly because it's not fair to the other iconists if you get to use nice CGed prettyful art of Link shirtless or whatever (oh my) while they're using regular screencaps from the games or offical art. (Icons from the official manga are allowed, however.)

S U B M I T T I N G

1. Have an icon that pertains to the weekly theme uploaded somewhere that can direct link.

2. Comment to the post whose subject title is "Week # submit post", which will appear sometime after voting is posted, and ONLY that post. All comments will be screened so that your icon remains a secret until voting time.

3. Make your comment look something like this:

4. All icons should be submitted by Friday of that week at the specified time (these days it's usually nine PM but it varies). If you submit later than that time, no sweat, but it's just better if you're responsible, unlike me. :P

V O T I N G

1. Voting will be delayed one week if not enough icons have been submitted (five is the minimum).
2. Members of the community will comment on the voting post with the numbers of their favorite icons. All comments will be screened.
3. This community operates under a weighted system, so choose your favorite three icons to vote for.
4. Don't use multiple accounts to vote for yourself or another person. If I find out, you will be in trouble. Again.
5. Ten icons or more may mean a special category if I am feeling particularly uncaring about having to make more banners.
6. Voting will close at five PM EST on Sunday.

W I N N I N G

1. The three icons with the most votes will receive first, second, or third place banners, respectively.
2. Winners will be announced sometime after voting closes (no duh).
3. If there are six or more icons submitted for one week, and there are no ties, I will also have a moderator's choice - I will choose an icon that I (einmonim) like the most (that didn't place and wasn't made by me, of course). It's six or more because if there are five, then one won't get anything and I'll feel bad for it.
4. All four winners (or more, if there are ties) will receive banners, though they may take a while to make, heh.

And yes, we can make icons too (although the quality of mine are questionable, heh). So we WILL submit every now and then; don't sue us. Har har. (Especially if there aren't that many icons on a certain week. :/)

There's really no reason for anyone but t3h people (see above) to post in this community, so yeah. It's really all just commenting, anyway. Thus... bleh.

Also, we now have a banner! Wahaha. If you want to link to us, use the banner because it is a happy banner. Well, not really, but yeah. Direct link to it if you want, but if you can upload it to your own thing that'd be great.
