It is with some bitterness that I return your salutations. The circumstances of our leaving Dunn Maris, and the fact that my father died here in exile, has left me much aggrieved. I see little reason why I should be concerned with your tale of woe. In response to your invitation, I wish to....

What do I wish? What do I tell him? I do long to return to the Castle by the Sea. It was the place I considered home for most of my life. But to turn around now, to return and pretend that all is well, is almost more than my heart can bear. I drop the quill back in the well and crumple the paper, smearing my fingers with ink. I am in no mood for this. Perhaps moonlight will better illuminate my thoughts.

How irritating!

So Augustan has written after all this time. I don't know why I am surprised, but I was genuinely startled when I saw his seal upon the letter. I should have known. I should have known that the moment he was in a tight space, he would recall his exiled "friend." He actually used the word friend! Now I am obligated to answer. One does not ignore the lord of Dunn Maris.

I am sorely vexed.

9/3 Update: I lied. First chapter will go up Monday, September 8th. I just need a couple more days to recover from August.

August is a terrible month for getting anything posted on a regular basis, so the first chapter will be posted Tuesday, September 2nd, with the two more chapters to follow that week. From there, we'll have two or three chapters posted a week from then on, if all goes well.

New chapters will be posted over at the old site. Right now it's about a chapter every two weeks, though I'm trying to get back to at least once a week, maybe twice.

About three years ago, I discovered blogging and Blogger, and decided that I wanted to give it a try  (it would be another year or so before I discovered livejournal). But I found that (at the time) I really didn't have much to blog about, and decided instead to use it as an exercise in writing. I would force myself to write a short chapter of a continuing story every few days.

At first, I was going to make it sort of a fake blog, writing about strange fictitious adventures.  I thought a monster or ghost hunter would be fun.  I was trying to decide on a name, and at the same time reading Angel Sanctuary. The name Zaphael popped into my head, and instantly I saw her, and heard her angry voice:  "How irritating!"  I was no longer interested in a fake blog set in reality, but a story set in a fantasy land.  Characters appeared and were named as I saw them, and except for one series of events, I never wrote more than three chapters in advance.

I am currently as I write this on chapter Two Hundred and Thirty Six over on Blogger, a pretty good achievement.  And the story isn't bad, if I do say so myself.  But I admit, it is more an exercise than anything else, and has its flaws.

It has been difficult this past year, however.  Moving and getting into various other writing and gaming activities has really slowed down the story, and I don't want that to happen. So I thought to get myself motivated, I would start re-posting the story here on lj, a couple chapters a week, and then, when I am finally even with Blogger, start writing the new stuff over here exclusively.

Gonna be a while, though, since I will still be posting new chapters over in Blogger.

Hopefully, I will start posting chapters here real soon.
