 Hey, everyone!  It's Monki!

I used to have an LJ, never kept up with it, but now for some reason I really want a blog - ya' know, the non-YWS kind.  I love YWS' blogs, but I just wanted something more..... official. :)

Anywho, add me as a friend and be sure to tell me to add you too if we haven't done so already. :D

I'll be working on customizing my LJ. :)

Hi new here! Just wondering if anyone would like to talk writing or books, authors or poets? Perhaps even share work? If so write back, thanks : )

Hi everyone, alwaysawriter invading, even though she had no idea it exsisted til she saw the topic Sam posted. I'll probably forget it's here again but I just want to say that I'm glad that Nate put it so mods can open chat now, even though it's got me in trouble numerous times and is way too addicting. :)

Hey kids! 'Tis Sainty here, invading LiveJournal for the umpteenth time. xD I always make these things then forget about them, but now I'm going public with this one, so maybe I'll stick with it?

Who knows!

But yay for blogging. *blog addict*

Lubs to all!

Hey there! [Aug. 20th, 2008|05:11 pm]

[Current Mood | pensive]

Just thought I'd say a quick hi and let you all know I've set up an account here. This is kitty15 by the way, if anyone wants to add me. And why is the smiley for pensive smiling? I usually associate the mood with darkly brooding, closely skin to melancholic. I wonder... does the melancholic smiley smile? I think I shall go see... nope. But that one looks a little too blue for me so let's stick with pensive.

Well see you around everyone. This will probably get more use once I start NaNo. Or when I get around to working on Shifting Shadows. Perhaps I'll even make that my NaNo in the end...

Hiii~ This is Meep, if you didn't guess.
I know people don't check this community often, but I just wanted to post & say that my computer's temporarily (hopefully) out of commission, so I won't be on YWS much - if at all - until at least Friday, when I'm going to the Apple store to get it looked at. I'd log in there, but I don't know my password and I don't want to have to reset it if I'm just going to be back on Nataku (my laptop) in a couple of days. ^^;;
Sorry~ I'll be back as soon as I can~ (Email me if you need me, ne?)

Now that I feel totally insane (I haven't looked at this in months) I feel the need to post. I can't get into anything on the site, and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing difficulties? Now I must wonder who else checks this occasionally...I hope someone does...

challenges for the new year [Dec. 31st, 2007|08:14 pm]

*blows dust off of the comm*
I was thinking about posting this somewhere on the main YWS site, but I figured that the LJ would be a better place for it, seeing as I'm linking to LJ communities.
If you're looking for very specific writing goals for 2008, or if you're just looking for prompts, may I recommend: [info]12in2008 (a year-long challenge to write 12 stories of a certain length - the cool part is, you set your own goal), [info]stayintheroom (weekly prompts, usually based on "your character"), [info]thefirstline (bi-weekly prompts using the first line from famous novels) and [info]story_swap (in case you don't get enough feedback/interaction on YWS).

I'm sure there are others - anyone have any recommendations?

(If you're looking for me, I've joined them all with my other account: [info]perfectworry.)

-Posting on YWS

-Going outside and exercising.

Of course. I am Queen Of Procrastination! Ooh ya. Well,..

Until next time,

Is anyone having...

This issue with YWS? )

>.> It's driving me nuts that I can't even get to the board right now. I sent someone a PM asking about a usergroup and I THINK they responded, but I didn't get to read the PM. X.X When I go to the link for my inbox it gives me a different error but if I go to the regular board site it'll give me the error above. Just wanted to see if it was just me or if it was others too and whether or not it's being fixed/the mods know about it.

Edit: one of the people on the mod squad must've fixed it. So you can pretty much ignore this post now since it seems to be fixed. ^_^

I find this funny. [Aug. 15th, 2007|05:00 am]

Regarding the newest official poll on YWS: What Planet Would You Travel To?

I find it hilarious all the people who are pointing out that the moon and the sun are not planets, which technically they are. I had to write a paper in Astronomy 110 last semester about it.

From dictionary.com.

plan·et /ˈplænɪt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[plan-it] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. Astronomy.
a. Also called major planet. any of the nine large heavenly bodies revolving about the sun and shining by reflected light: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto in the order of their proximity to the sun.
b. a similar body revolving about a star other than the sun.
c. a celestial body moving in the sky, as distinguished from a fixed star, applied also to the sun and moon.

*grins* Ah, semantics.

Ta,
Cal.

No word from Nate, yet, but Duskglimmer has once again offered to let us use TSR, which is found here: http://fantasic.proboards25.com/index.cgi.

I would like to ask a favor of my fellow LJers, since this is the first place I've posted this. If you can, please register if you have not already from last summer, and then post something (no, not anything, you crazies :P). I want to make sure everyone can still post, see, and I can't using my account, as I'm an admin. Thanks, all!

And hold off until I give the signal, ok? (don't worry, you won't be able to miss it ;))

From Imp: Fools Duelling, Detectives... [Jul. 3rd, 2007|02:01 pm]

fencingimp
[Current Mood | chipper]
[Current Music |John Williams (Harry Potter Theme)]

Sans irreplaceable YWS, I have a good - if impish - excuse for deadlines delayed. But it's still an excuse. A rather morose one and less impish if I draw it out much longer. ^_^'

So...

I'll be posting Fools' Duel results here (and the new Duel). As for Detectives, there's the difficulty of not having all the entries. That one has an implacable and ironshod excuse and I doubt rather earnestly if I'll manage to get around it. !_!'

(Though for all of you, or any of you--If you entered the detective contest and were not able to submit your entry at YWS, feel free to email it to me at impwriter@netscape.com ).

..:::Fools' Duel Results:::..

Our Duel ended with the strongest contenders holing themselves up rather neatly in genre catagories. ^_^' (Though every entry was excellent.)

In this case, setting precedent, I suppose, I will assign each First status in one of the three fencing weapons. (This will only be the case in Duels in which entries span such disparate planes in genre definition. This time 'round we had distinct sci-fi, fantasy, and something nearer contemporary dramatic fiction from Dono [and Insanityabounds].)

In Foil and Fantasy, our Duellist is Crysi (Sam)!

In Epee and Science Fiction, our Duellist is CL (Kelle)!

In Sabre and "Other Fiction", our Duellist is Hunter (Dono)!

Honourable mentions to Myth, with her Unlikely Companions and ShadowTwit.

Hello fellow YWSers!!! I'm so confused now...at least I know what's going on though. I was grounded for a week,  I come back, and YWS isn't working. I almost died. So now I'm sitting here at 2 in the morning figuring otu how to use the blogsite and LJ. Also, I have writer's block. It reaks. That's all for now I guess...I think it's kinda cool the way that YWS members manage to pass information from person to person so we find a way to keep in touch.
~Bella~

*Woah...the first time I posted this I had no idea what I was doing...so it was on my LJ instead of the YWSociety LJ...I'm so confuzzled. *

*Gah!!! (falls over backwards) Now I have to do this whole little email thing. This websites becoming a pain in the neck...*

Things You Can Do to Battle Withdrawal [Jul. 2nd, 2007|11:10 pm]

writersdomain
[Current Mood |suffering from withdrawal]

Withdrawal from YWS is nasty, and I see many people suffering from it (including myself). So, here are some things you can do to battle withdrawal. ( in no particular order)

1. Write. Uh... yeah. That's why we joined YWS, no?
2. Go outside. Shock. Yes, it is good for writers to go outside
3. Clean your room. Seriously, it passes the time AND it gets something done
4. Read. It's fun!
5. Ride your bike/walk. It's summer, everyone. Why not get away from the computer and do something?
6. Browse other sites like LJ, facebook, sheflari and the like and search in desperation for other YWS members who you are cut off from. So, maybe not the best option, but fun? Perhaps.
7. Alternate between checking the YWS LJ community and the YWS Blog repeatedly. 0_0
8. Stare at the error page for hours. I'm getting off-topic. Never mind. Don't do that.
9. Take pictures/draw pictures/create pictures with whatever thingamabobber picture thingies you have.
10. Listen to music! It's great inspiration
11. Get together with friends. Fun!
12. Dance. Hey, dancing around a room is surprisingly fun!
13. Roll down a grass hill. (as long as it doesn't have fertilizer - that might be painful)
14. Call people. Talking on the phone is fun!
15. Indulge in other hobbies that you normally don't have time for.
16. Search youtube.com for cool videos - it's strangely entertaining.
17. Chat/ e-mail: great way to keep in contact with people!
18. Summer homework, anyone? Yes, I can hear the groaning.
19. Sleep
20. Eat
21. Breathe. Please
22. Draw pictures of Smoochie for when YWS is resurrected.
23. Play a game
24. Practice your instrument/sport
25. Go shopping (at the bookstore!!!)

More to come...
