    Update: new vampire game
    Hi Everyone,

Ted, Robert, Bob, David and I will be running Revelations: Shadow of the Cross, a Vampire game starting in February. We've gotten a lot of questions, so I am posting here with some answers. More answers will be forthcoming.

    First, currently scheduled we have:

January 31st - One Shot Play Test of New Rule System
February 7 - Smoke Filled Room Session
    February 21 - Game Start

Second, we have a Yahoo Groups created to disseminate information. It explains, for example, what a "Smoke Filled Room Session" is. You can get to the Groups through here: Revelations LARP.

Third, the rules will be out soonish. The system was created by Ted and David with input from the other GM's. It's extremely similar to White Wolf, but different.

Finally, if you have questions about the LARP, etc., please post them to the Yahoo Groups. You can contact GM's individually, but we'd like to share our responses so we don't have to repeat ourselves, so please, unless it is personal private character stuff, hit the groups with it.

Despite the conditions, there will be game today. With only one session after this one, things are coming to a head, and it'll be lots of fun. We know a lot of you are out of town, but if you're not, why not come by?

Following game, come to the welcome-back-however-briefly party for James and Allison!

Stay Dry, and Come Here Directly!
If you get this message, feel free to come directly to my house for game. If you need directions, call (650) 625-9049. GMs will still be meeting people who didn't get the word at the CPA in Mt. View, but people will be here to let you in.

    See you soon...

You Did It will be happening tomorrow, but not in the rain.

We'll be meeting at the usual location and having annoucnements there, just to make sure we don't miss and stragglers. We'll then relocate to a much warmer place (Robert and Bob's house). If you get there late and can't find us, call one of the other players and we'll be there.

Warm is good. I'll even try to bring hot chocolate. It'll still be LARPy, though. And horrific. You'll take no comfort from the hot chocolate. It'll be fun. So come to the CPA tomorrow at 4.

Just a reminder - James and I are going to be back for YDI sessions on the 28th and 11th. I'll be playing Jezzy Morse, who I mentioned way back when. If you feel we need to have a downtime/background scene, you can either e-mail me at snow_white125@hotmail.com or contact me when we come back (we arrive in SF on the evening of the 20th). Actually, e-mail is the best way to arrange to meet up even then.

If I do not have a downtime scene with you before the session of the 28th, I will assume that our characters have not met (or have not met since any previously discussed background, in some peoples' cases). This, I think, will be easiest for everyone.

    Off Topic
A friend of mine is shooting a film (I don't have much more detail than that, but knowing him, it's low budget and independent, but not just a student project) and needs extras for a scene in a restaurant. Shooting would be this coming Monday night the 18th at the Spaghetti Factory in San Jose, starting at 10pm. The scene is an "after hours business casual type of place, nothing overly fancy, just fun, generic hipster kind of place."

If you're interested in being on film, let me know as soon as you can. He needs 15 people. I've never done extra work, but it sounds sorta fun.

    To the Stores
With Halloween yesterday, all the cool costuming bits and makeup are now on sale. Near me are Spirits stores that open for Halloween only and they are now selling everything at 50% off.

    Aplogies to my customers
I know that I have at least a couple of people interested in purchasing a few rings from me. However, after the lovely giant near the Pantheon, I am a little bit hesitant to go out into public again until I have crafted something that will take care of such a problem again. I am hard at work on it and hope to have it completed soon. Then, I will be more than happy to start up my business again.

    Sincerely,
    Tim the Talisman.

    New character: Jezzy Morse
Hi everyone! I thought I'd let you all know I'm playing a new character online, and will be playing her while James and I are back for the holiday.

Her name is Jezzy Morse. She hasn't been around until recently, at least as far as any of you have noticed. Yet she seems to have some connection to the Groves and Tillmans, and was at Liam Solomon's funeral. She's pretty young - late teens or very early twenties. What's up with her is probably hard to figure out at this point.

You can contact me at snow_white125@hotmail.com or on IM.

    FYI on the Parthenon
Just an FYI. From the 5th through the 9th of October, the Parthenon was closed due to 'earthquake damage', the insurance inspectors needing to get their information and local building inspectors to figure out if the rest of the unharmed building was still sound. Once that is over, the Parthenon is open for limited business while reconstruction of the back room and the storeroom are occurring.

Also, Holly will be trying to get a hold of Molly in a most enthusiastic manner. If Molly's player would please email me at skitten@skitten.best.vwh.net, I would be most appreciative.

Not about lemurs, Not about game...
I'm going to the Not In Our Name anti-war protest on Sunday, October 6. It's in Union Square, SF at 2:00p.m.

This is a link to the Not In Our Name website. This is a link to the short description of the SF event. Here is a link to the organizers of the SF event.

Probably other folks have heard/LJ'd about this event, but I missed any posts or discussions about going. I don't know if this is the best way to protest what is going on in this country. I'm more of the 'sit at home and complain' type than the 'activist' type myself. Going to this protest may change nothing, it might not even change me. But I'm going anyway. If you would like to join me, that would be swell. Public transit is a bitch since they closed the trains down on weekends. I'm planning to take a bus to Daly City and the BART in to SF, only a couple blocks from the protest site. If you have a car and want to carpool, I'll pay the parking in Daly City. If you have no car, I'll gladly introduce you to the wonders of multi-system transit hopping.

It'll be hip, cool, retro, and righteous. Or something. Make love not war!

    Tractare Tokens
Posted behind the bar at the Parthenon:

    Tractare Tokens
    3 white tokens = 1 red token
    9 white tokens = 3 red tokens = 1 blue token

  • White tokens are for bestowing favor upon those who have done well. To show your good favor for their good works.

  • Red tokens will always get you a free drink at the Parthenon. They are also for mending fences, showing contrition, confessing something of import. They are a physical representation of your sincerity.

  • Blue tokens will always get you a week of free drinks at the Parthenon. They are also for asking questions with honest answers or for making a request of someone. These tokens are a physical representation of the importance you put on this request or question.

These tokens are for you to keep and use at your whim. Use them well.
    ~Holly

    ======
    OOC:

    1. Yep, these tokens are for you all to keep and use throughout the game as you wish.

    2. If your character has a bunch of tokens and decides not to use them for whatever reason and, ICly, wants to throw them away, please just return them to me so I don't have to keep remaking the props.

    3. No. There is no magic on them that anyone can detect. They are just bits of colored plastic.

    4. Caveat - this isn't to say that the GMs are going to mess with them in the future. I don't know what's actually going to happen with them later. *smile*

    5. I will always have tokens for exchange as the characters wish.

    6. You can switch up or down. If you have a blue token and get more use from the red ones, you can exchange a blue token for three red tokens. It is all up to you.

    Party!!!
    Hi All,

David and I are having a bash to celebrate the wedding in ways that our family just shouldn't be present for. Of course, it being a giant public space with large windows and the ability to get us kicked from our apartment complex, it seems unlikely we'll be as expressive as we might be at say, the Play Vice Party.

Despite all these potential obstacles, we expect it to be a fun get-together of all of our ecclectic friends, including the folks we've met over the years (and have known over the years) through the lovely live action games we've been playing in.

I sent an evite to myself:
    http://www.evite.com/r?iid=TBEEAVCHFNNWKJHRXTEZ&li=iq

If you'd like to show up for some good gabbing, adequate music (and to gawk at the rec room where we live), please click the link and let us know you'll be coming (just remember to let me know it's you). For those of you I managed to get the email addresses from, you, of course, are welcome to use the evites I sent you.

    OOC: Reminder
Just an OOC Reminder that during this coming game, the Parthenon is having its 1920's costume party. Costumes are not required but dressing nice (if in character) is preferred.

Could one of the GMs please get back to me on my emails about the party, please? I would prefer not to be doing all of the set up of the party the morning of the game. Plus, there are supplies I need to get.

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

    OOC: Dune LARP
OOC: There is going to be a Dune LARP hosted by Chuckling Cthulhu on Oct 26th (which is not one of our LARP dates as far as I can tell). CC LARPs have always been pretty darned good in my book. The last one was a Babylon 5 LARP.

    Time Travel at the Parthenon!
    Flyers at the Parthenon:

Travel back to the 1920's during the Parthenon's Championship game of Monopoly!

This is a costume party and a fund raiser to finish out a month of fast action and hard deals throughout the Monopoly tournament. So come out all you flapper girls, classy guys and dangerous gangsters to enjoy a night of fun and prizes!

    Date: 21 Sep 2002
Time: Contest at 7pm, Party at 8pm
    Where: The Parthenon
    Why: Why not!

    Events:
    * The Monopoly Championships!
    * A 1920's costume contest with prizes to the best dressed male and female!
    * A raffle fundraiser for the Trenton clinic!
    * ONE free glass of campaign for each person in costumer!

As this is a fund raiser for the Trenton clinic, badly damaged in a fire, there is a raffle and donations will be accepted throughout the evening. So, while there is no door fee, your generosity will be appreciated.

    =============
    OOC:
OK, ya'll. There really will be a costume contest with prizes and I am going to make some attempt at dressing up. This isn't to say that you have to but it'll be fun. I'll be bringing my boom box. So, if you have any appropriate music, please bring it. I don't know about the raffle, if there will be an actual raffle. That's in the hands of Jade and Jake.
