Here's my translation of this Sanspo.com article about the Speed Racer press conference, which took place on the 30th.



Akanishi Jin (23), member of popular group KAT-TUN, and actress Ueto Aya (22) attended a press conference in the metropolitan area on June 30th for the American film Speed Racer (a Wachowski Brothers production which will hit Japanese theaters this Saturday, July 5th).

Akanishi lends his voice to the lead role of Speed Racer in the Japanese dubbed version. American actor Emile Hirsch (23) was also in attendance at the conference. "He is cool like Speed himself," Emile said, "I'm happy he could do the voice so naturally." Being the same age, the two actors hit it off from even before the interview and Akanishi talked freely with Hirsch in English.

Ueto Aya, who provided the voice for Akanishi’s girlfriend in the film, said "Akanishi-san's sexy voice and performance were very enjoyable," to which Akanishi shyly thanked her for the comment.

Random, but Emile Hirsch is a lot shorter than I thought he'd be. Either that or Jin is just ridiculously tall. O_o
