The Nowe Showe
So, to London towne laste niyt to attend a performance of "Ye Nowe Showwe" with feymouse performers Ser Punt and Lord Dennis. A last minute decision on my parte, fortunately
Lord Michayl had a contacte with a spayre tickete. Met this Sir Christopher at Goodge Streyt, and also the lovely ladye
Clayr, it was good to once agayn make her acquiantance.
So, onto the showe. At the entrance, met other friends of the good Christopher, including one
Bo Peepe Sheyp, mistress of this fine establishment but previously unknown to me; it was good indeede to finally meet her. We entereyd the coffee house ferst in the lyne and took seets arownd a teybel and had a most convicial conversaytion about manye thinges. It became apparant that one of Sir Christopher's friends, whose name now escpes me, is an experte in the fine arte of naym dropping, I had not the heart to telle him we cared not. After awhile, the theatre itself was readye, and we entered to find seyts.
Ferst was a younge ladye scandalously atired in trowsers! She mayde some announcements and asked us to compleat a peace of paper in whych they sought ower jokes as a contribution. Then, the mayn performance started, and the famous duo caym onto the stayge. They were indeed most amusing, but I was surprised that the Lord Chamberlains's men had not shut themme downe and hadde them arrested, some of the humoure was most scandalous and notte very nice about our fayr government. They also made a number of jokes regarding an individual knowne as "Geourge Bushe", an unknowne to me, I gather he is of some faym and importance in the colonies, it is to be hoped that her majesty sees fit to dismiss him fromme offyc forthwyth if his incompetence is as they portrayed. They also had a musical turne in the forme of one Mitch Benne, a moste amusing syngerre who performed songes of a topycal nature. Apparently, welle knowne touring bande Moterheyd are evenne sponsoringe a child's footeball teame such is theyr successe, and he sunge us a song aboute this news. I wishe the younge playeres well in their endeavoures.
Aftere the showe we were unfortunately required to separayt our wayes as manye had othere appointmentes. So, havyng notte been in towne recently I tooke the opportunity to walk the environs, and was reminded how proude we should be to have London as our fair capitol and most importante citye in the worlde.
And thene to return to Lord Michayls and to bedde, a tired but happye man.
And writing that was hard work, hope it's the sort of thing you're looking for, was indeed a good evening.
