I try my best to get good sleep, but I keep waking up scared right up from a nightmare. Then I can't sleep even more.
I'm trying my hardest not to take clonazepam. I'll just convince myself I took one and go to sleep.

I know what I want to do for my 21'st birthday. I want to watch the sunset on my youth and dance til the break of dawn. Then I'll watch the sunrise on my future. Bright, cold, and scary....its 8 months away.
Summer....it goes by faster everytime!

| DOUBLE FEATURE: The Theme |
[26 Jul 2008|05:20pm] |
This is an account of my two month perfectionistic drive to write our 45 second intro music.

Get the Theme: MP3 | AAC | Apple Lossless
The show has been out for a few days now (you can get it for free here), and after listening to it you've probably noticed that strange little mix of theme music. Writing and recording the theme is actually what held up the podcast for the last few months.
My original intention was to capitalize on the formula perfected by Rob Zombie. I knew the theme would only be about 30 seconds of music, so I listened to a lot of his stuff all day and wrote something that fit in when I got back home. Trying really hard not to strive for perfection, I threw it together quickly and after a few hours the basic idea was recorded. Easy. Done.
But it sucked.
I was about ready to scrap it, but then I started working some samples into it. I keep a lot of movie and tv samples on my computer so I can pop them in and out of stuff I'm working on to get a feel for how a piece of dialogue might fit. The early versions of the theme had a sample from Carnivale - brother Justin talking about signs of the apocalypse. That seemed to be just what the theme needed. It toned down the ridiculous numetal sound and made it feel like it was about film again.
We didn't want to use that particular sample for a few reasons. To start with we didn't have rights to it . . . I think the bigger concern was that we wanted something all our own. We didn't want people to trace back the source of our sample. A clip from Carnival at the beginning of every episode might be appropriate for a Carnivale podcast, but that isn't the case here. We considered using samples from the different films we talk about in each episode, but that could have created an opportunity for spoilers and would have make the production of each show several hours longer. In the end I came up with this idea of having a made up sample that sounded like it was from a film.
I asked Michael to write a few lines and we'd pick one we liked to use. I really wanted to do the music myself (as I need all the practice I can get writing, recording and producing) but it's his show too and this seemed like a great place for that collaboration. He came up with these fantastic lines. The only real idea I had there is that maybe they could sound like lines from exploitation films. As we were coming up with the look for the site and promo artwork, we always went back to exploitation cinema for inspiration. Doing so again with the music only seemed natural. He wrote the lines to sound somewhat sexual, somewhat sinister, and a few to sound like out of context they could even be referring to the podcast.
Rather than one long line, he also had this idea of doing a bunch of smaller samples. I was hesitant at first because I knew it would be a lot more work for me, but when he started showing them to me it seemed perfect. When there was a good selection to choose from, I brought in some friends of ours to record. I wrote a bit more about that whole process here. None of our friends are actors, voice or otherwise, so I just had a number of people record a multitude of takes for each line and then used that best from each session. In the end I used Melanie Boyna, Tia Battenberg, Samantha Gordon, Sarah Strand and Laura Angel - and I love every single sound they contributed.
After that it was a matter of rerecording and mixing over and over to center the focus around the girls rather than the trashy instrumentation. I played around with some production plugins to degrade the recordings and make them sound more like movies. Michael thinks the end product really gets back to my Rob Zombie template. When I listen to it, I hear a spot light on five different movies that don't actually exist. Either way, I think it fits perfectly.
I released the recording under a Creative Commons license so people can take anything they want from it and use it in their own stuff. As I describe on the site, "content can be copied, distributed, adapted, tastlessly brutalized, and otherwise used without any permission - under the condition that it's credited appropriatly and linked to DoubleFeatureShow.com. This lone condition can be waived if absolutley necessary." You can hear the full theme above, on our myspace, or at Last.fm.

I went out this morn, after work. Visit with Nic. Went places, ate food & bought dvds WEE!
I got 'ANCHOR BAY COLLECTION: 5 Films by Dario Argento'. Ahem:
Phenomena Do You Like Hitchcock? Tenebre The Card Player Trauma
And the new album by The Black Keys, "Attack & Release".
Tell me what you think about this. For whatever reason today, at some point while telling Nic a story, I pointed out generally what a really good friend he was to me. He didn't make an awkward face or start laughing at me, walking in the opposite direction, BUT...
Do you think, guys especially get uncomfortable when others guys compliment them for whatever reason. I know Nic knows its nothing like I've got the hots for him, but otherwise, I wondered if I shouldn't of said anything of the sort. That I was making him feel weirded out. Am I making an issue out a non-issue here, in my brain?
I get neurotic easily, but he's a good friend and I'ver recalled in the past trying to be nothing but nice and being taken the wrong way on the issue and nothing but bad resulting I could barely fix/settle.
You guys are people, tell me what YOU think? I don't know how he probably thinks, even if he cares or thought about it twice for a solitary moment
I'm in actuality an alien so I need help when researching the behaviors of real humans. Any informative details would grandly put good use to my cause.
-------------
I've decided I'm EXTREMELY lonely and it's a big reason why I'm so depressed. I also decided I would prefer to date some guy my age. Why a guy specifically? Because the last guy I dated was when I was 15 and 16 years old! I want to take another chance on going it gay this time. My bank account is screwed up, so I had to shamefully asked if I could use hers to get an account set up at www.gay.com, to see how my luck works out. I know I'll get a parade old men because even on my MY SPACE I've gotten lots of buddy requests from old guys who were gay. It's because I'm of age but look 15-16.
I was warned by a gay friend that at gay.com, all that's there are horny old men looking for sex, but I browsed some of the profiles. Not ALL of them are like that.
It'd be even COOLER if I met some fancy filmmaker type maybe. Certaily someboy who is terribly comical, cute in an androgenous manner, More on this later. GOTTA SLEEP!!!
PS- The best would be my age, a hermet like myself, who doesn't smoke/drink and who looks like early, nerdy, David Bowie, Cillian Murphy, or Michael Pitt kinds of human.
But before I get into all that, bedtime... Tell you more later! Betcha can't wait another second!!

| Shut Up And Let Me Go |
[27 Jul 2008|04:37am] |
I am so tired that I can't feel my legs anymore. It was a great workout though, standing around from 9am to 10pm, with only one and a half hours of sleep the night before. Couldn't help but blow my top a little at the end when we were packing up. Not cool, not smooth.
Now, I truly have new found respect for people like Michael Eavis and Kevin Lyman. Having funds, sponsorship and talent are important aspects. But to manage and run actual operations for a festival is totally another art form altogether.
Right now, I'm trying to survive 101 boot camp. I'm tired of complaining and I'm just going to shut up and pay my dues. Once you accepted that fact, everything just becomes easier to deal with. Plus, I love music and everything about it. Having a 360 deg view point of it is a good thing, I suppose.

Michelle and I went to the screening of The Little Mermaid III, it was so sad. I cried, I did. No shame. I loved it.
Went thrifting too and bought so much just for 3 bucks. Had starbucks and a pressed cuban.

Shae inaccurately singing "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkely |
] |
"Its all I think about, day and night." an old man said to the woman sitting in the driver's seat of an old buick in the salvation army parking lot. One of those those one-step-away from sobbing kind of pleas for understanding. As I walked by the car to unlock my bike from a telephone pole I couldnt help but overhear him. They looked like an old married couple. Probably in their 50s or 60s. Just your average looking older out-of-touch white couple. But the man is kneeled down in front of the open driver's door and his wife is just sitting there behind the wheel in a catatonic state. Her eyes wide open she doesnt repsond to her husband saying "Its all I think about, day and night." He even gives her a little shake. Nothing. It reminds me of some of the one-sided conversations I've had with my more crazy girlfriends. And as i'm peddling away I wonder to myself, do crazy girls ever stop being crazy?

| A question to the ladies |
[25 Jul 2008|11:53pm] |
Is it impossible for you to like work out a problem in a civilized manner, or do you just like to let drama escalate until you can't stand each other and or the relationship ends?
Or is it just the girls I meet? Because I'm starting to notice a super fucking stupid pattern and I'm this close to just like Joining the army just to commit suicide.
Life is so shitty right now, it would be even without the girl troubles.

The Walkmen - "Thinking of a Dream I Had" |
] |
Well the reason I haven't updated my LJ is because I broke my Laptop on the very same day as my last post. With my luck with electronics it's no surprise (I wrote a blog once about my bad luck with electronics and frying a Mac in my school in Film class where they really are needed and used constantly). Well I got a new one but by the time I got it (like about 3 months ago) I have become lazy in writing stuff and it's not like if anyone really pays any attention to my blogs so.... Well yeah since my last post not too many things have happened just bored at home ALLLLLLLLL summer. :( Nothing important has happened. But I do have a new kitty! She's so cute and she has beautiful green eyes! I decided to name her Bellatrix and Bella both referring to my fandoms. Bellatrix because of Harry Potter. I love crazy and psychotic characters and villains. And Bella because of Twilight, yes I've become obsessed. What can I say? What attracted me was when a friend told me it was about Vampires, Love and Werewolves also when I was reading it there was some sexuality about it [yes, I'm a perv. And Stephenie Meyer is a cockblocker. I hope that Breaking Dawn has some steamy sex scene but I highly doubt it pourquoi? Because again Stephenie is a cockblocker and she's thinking about the teeny bopper fangirlie girls (which annoy me to no end even more now after the Comic-Con thing... they officially made me embarrassed of being part of the fandom but at least there are normal people part of the fandom that are awesome and don't make me embarrassed of being part of it) that will read it. But I still love her for making the book series. lol]. So yeah, she won't really know the difference when I call her Bella or Bellatrix. Actually she doesn't, she comes when I call her by both names. Also I have a little chihuahua named Coco and it's so cute the way they get along. They really do get along. At first Bella was a little hesitant but now she stopped that. I still have to buy Bellatrix a bed though and in the meantime she and Coco have been sleeping in the same bed! It's so cute. I have to take a picture of that soon. Another thing when I first got Coco like about a year and a half ago I was thinking about naming her Bellatrix but I decided not to because I thought it was more of a cat name. And now that I do have a cat... lol.

A Flair for the Dramatic ~ Pierce the Veil |

work is horrible today. there are way too many kids in the room (the sports camp is using the room). i'm afraid that stuff is going to get broken. I have been trying to update my livejournal, but i am getting a bit lazy now. I made it through January of 2006, but i decided that i was done with it. i wish there was a way that you could print out all of your xanga entries into a book or something. hope all of you are doing well, although i don't think anyone uses this anymore.
