I wanted to take an opportunity to talk with you about Yasumicon. Yeah, sorta cheesy and late considering how quiet things have been over here at our LJ community, but over the past couple of months, a lot of planning has occurred. Staff definitely seemed rather renewed and ideas sprang forth. It's true that there has been a reputation about us.
"They're a small con", or "They have their problems, but it's free", and "It's not huge, but it's intimate".
And I'm here to say it's all true.
Yasumicon was a brainchild of someone who wanted to give back to the community in South Florida and a group of friends willing to support that dream. We never get great stuff down here as far as support for Anime. It's always somewhere further up north, like Tampa and Orlando. These conventions are wonderfully great cons where people can get together and share in their love for Anime. I took the position of General Coordinator aka Con Chairman to ensure that Yasumicon keeps its roots: A place for us to get together, watch some anime and have fun.
I hope that I'll be able to deliver on that idea. You've spoken about Yasumicon, whether it was at the con during closing ceremonies, here, or at a forum and I've dived deep into it, taking everyone's views and valid points. I hope that 2007, our fifth year, not only meets everyone's expectations, but surpasses it. It's with that feeling I wanted to have this "heart to heart" chat with you. That and to say "Thank you".
Thank you for all of the support and I hope that it continues for years to come. You really do make this "job" worthwhile. I sincerely mean that with all my heart.
In the coming week, I'll be releasing information that should prove beneficial to you, the congoer. Take it, use it and be merry.
Lastly, I hope that this year will change your minds about Yasumicon for the better. We're not just a small con or a free con but
your con.
"If you have a question or concern, feel free to post it"
Thank you for your time and patronage at our convention
