Operation: Cleaning Animes of HDD (4)

As I am writing this, I have transferred nine episodes of School Rumble worth 2100 Megabytes into 3 CD-ROMs. Currently burning the last batch of School Rumble episodes. As you should have noticed that a few of my last few updates are Shuffle! updates. Somehow, all my Shuffle! posts are unlisted in Anime Nano's series part Anime Nano has no series part for Shuffle!. If I were to remove old animes, I can download newer ones, and then I can do other anime's review. You see.

I had received a comment in one of my last post regarding an operation, in where the person had asked me, why don't I just burn the whole series into a DVD-ROM? Well, I had also wished that I have a DVD burner at home. It's a pity that I do not, although I do plan do get one sooner or later. Until then, I have no other choice than to burn the animes into CD-ROMs or to delete them.

So, what have I done? Here's a step-by-step procedure that I have been through:

Aim: Free at least 2 Gigabytes in E:\ Drive.

1. First of all, make sure C:\ Drive has at least 1400MB.

Nope, C:\ Drive has only 1.15GB.

After moving some Kurosagi episodes into D:\ Drive and uninstalling Dune 2000, this is what I get: 1.45GB.

2. Check E:\ Drive's space:

Yo, it's critical! 553MB left in the Hard Drive! Time to work!

3. Copy and Paste Files from E:\ Drive to G:\ Drive

In this case, I'm moving School Rumble episodes into CD-ROMs. So, I had copied four episodes of School Rumble worth 700MB into G:\ Drive. G:\ Drive is actually a CD-R:W drive, but now, I'm using it to burn CD-ROMs. The files that I had copied are temporarily moved to C:\.

4. Start the burning.

This is the real starting point of burning a disc. I clicked "Write these files to CD" on the left hand side panel. A "Disc Burning Wizard" would appear.

I write in the name and the episodes of the animes I am burning. In usual cases, I would write the anime's common name, like for example, "Shana" for Shakugan no Shana, "Ouran" for Ouran Koukou Host Club and "Mamoru" for Kage Kara Mamoru. But since I could take neither "School" nor "Rumble", so I had written "SchRmb". =\

5. Wait for the burning to finish.

Here's the vital part. The burning is continuous, and you may not continue if you suddenly stop, and if you stopped, the disc would be a piece of junk.

During this period, C:\ Drive takes in another 700MB to burn the disc. That explains the need of C:\ to have at least 1400MB. If you do not free those required space, C:\ Drive might scream. =\

Rejoice, it's almost done.

6. Remove the disc from the burner.

Yay, the burning is done. Operation finish? Not quite.

7. Delete files off computer.

Here's the main reason for doing all this disc burning. Delete the files which were burned onto the disc. There you go, more disc space.

8. Repeat steps 3-7 until you have transferred all the files you wanted.

So... in this operation, I have transferred 2800 MBs into 4 CD-ROMs. That should be enough for the time being. ^__^

You should stop using Windows XP built-in DVD software, it's slow as hell and needs as much free space as the files you wan to burn. Really stupid, since the files are already on your hard drive...

You should start using another DVD burning software, like Nero, or a free one. It will be faster and you won't need extra space.

I already have Nero installed in my computer. It's just that I don't know how to use the program. :(

Yeah, maybe I should get a better software. Oh and, I'm not burning DVDs. ^.~

I meant CD/DVD burning software... Nero can do that easily. Just create a new CD compliation, and then drag & drop files from the explorer to the right (your hard drives) to the one to the left (your compilation), and the burn. Easy as pie.
