Chercher - KOTOKO [2006.10.25] single: Maria-sama ga Miteru OAV ED


Earlier today, KOTOKO released her new single, Chercher, and as for as I know, it's her sixth "MAXI" single. As for why the single and the song featured was named "Chercher" (the pronounciation should be "cher-cher", I suppose), I have no idea at all. This song would be the ED of the OAV, Maria-sama ga Miteru (when translated into English, it becomes "The Virgin Mary is Watching Over You"), which will be released in Japan in November on the 29th, as the third season and a stand-alone movie anime, unlike it's previous two seasons, which are made into 13 episodes in each respective seasons. Meanwhile the anime has started to show in the Philippines, I haven't even heard of the anime till I do this post now.




I have always been a fan of KOTOKO. Her songs have never let me down, from the days when I only have a PC game music video featuring the game "Farland Symphony" using KOTOKO's "Wing My Way", to the songs featured in this new single, although I didn't really enjoy the song "Tsukiyo no butoukai". Her songs usually have a unique flavour I do not know how to describe. Like for example, Wing My Way has the feeling of someone looking for a brighter future, meanwhile Chercher here has the feeling of joy and happiness one would have in school. Both songs also have adventurous feelings, too!

Her last single was "being", and the song "being" itself was also the second OP of Shakugan no Shana. She has also being performing in other animes (mainly Geneon stuffs) such as Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins. I had really like the song and still like it until now. Meanwhile I'm not sure about KOTOKO's age, she looked quite old in one of the photos during her appearance in Anime Expo 2005 in America. In anyways, she still looks pretty attracting in this single's jacket.

So... if you are interested, go try the songs out. Note that they are for sampling only, so please support the artist by buying the original CD when it reaches your place (yeah... KOTOKO's singles/albums would never reach where I live). I've uploaded them specially to my Opera blog server, and as usual, do not hotlink.

Note: Oh well... I didn't knew that this song would be an anime's ED. I was wanting to do a random update talking about the animes which I an downloading and the animes which are recently licensed in the states. Oh well, there goes.

"although I didn't really enjoyed the song" - you mention in the community userinfo that you want to imporve your English, so a few pointers wouldn't help, ay? The quote up there needs a look at: since you already have past tense in your sentence thanks to "didn't", you don't need to add the "ed" ending to "enjoy". The correct way of saying this is: "although I didn't really enjoy the song". ^__^

Thanks for enlightening me about KOTOKO, I've been meaning to look into her for some time, I was just unsure. I will definitely listen to the samples. :D

Oh well, you can say that KOTOKO is my favourite JPop singer, so I do know quite a lot about her :D

Oh, that's awesome ^___^ Have you ever listened to Ayumi Hamasaki? Could you compare KOTOKO's voice that to that if you have?

Ayumi Hamazaki? Sorry, but I do not have any of her songs, so I'm unable to do any comparisms, but as far as I can see, Ayumi has more fans compared to KOTOKO. ^_^
