The Anime Saimoe Tournament 2009, a tournament organized by 2ch annually to pick the finest, the most influential if not the most welcomed female character of the year 2009, has ended just a few weeks ago. The Saimoe Tournament is a tournament that is held annually by the fans for the fans and winner goes down in the hall of fame. Notable past winners include Kinomoto Sakura of Cardcaptor Sakura (2003), Suiseiseki of Rozen Maiden (2006) and Hiiragi Kagami of Lucky Star (2008). The winner of the Anime Saimoe Tournament 2009 is none other than the main female protagonist of Toradora!, Aisaka Taiga.

Taiga fans rejoice! Kugimiya Rie fans rejoice! Tsundere fans rejoice! Lolicons rejoice!

While it is undeniable that Taiga has her own bastion of fans and admirers, as I have not watched Toradora! yet, I have nothing good to say about Taiga's crowning as Saimoe. This is because I can see that her winning was a controversial one - she was up against Hirasawa Yui in the final. Taiga won with a slim 54 votes majority against Yui.

I have noticed that both animenano and animeblogger antenna isn't picking up my previous post. Probably it was due to this blog inactivity. I'll see what I can do about it later if it still doesn't work.

Right now in this update I plan to introduce an anime I am watching as of right now. I don't really like the titles of this anime as they are quite long and redundant. ef -a tale of memories- and ef -a tale of melodies- are two anime series based on the visual novel ef -a tale of the two-. Wow, what a long name >_<; Nah, I'll be referring to the two animes as -memories- and -melodies- from here onwards.

This anime reminds me a lot of Kanon. I can't help but think of Ayu of Kanon when I saw that Miyako girl in ef - both were big fat liars. Then there's the name "Hiro Hiro" and "Miya Miya" which reminded me of "Ayu Ayu". Chihiro, a girl with the eyepatch, reminds me of Misaka Shiori.

The opening themes and ending themes of the anime series were superb I'd easily give them five stars. "Euphoric Field" and "Ebullient future" were the title of the two OP and they were originally sung in English. I especially like the the OP video, too.

Hi everyone! I'm back from a 22-months long hiatus from this blog - Yamaki's Anime Blog, and I'll be writing articles on animes and related stuffs once again. I have been watching quite a lot of animes and I look forward to talking about them here. The reason I'm reviving this blog is because I now have quite a lot of free time on my hand as I have just finished my Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) exam and now I'm waiting for the result so that I can apply for University.

I'll be writing articles on ef -a tale of memories- and ef -a tale of melodies- in the next few updates. Be sure to check it out!

P.S: There's going to be some ads on the right hand side of this blog now as Livejournal forces them on - they're not mine. I have always used a free account but now lj makes all communities plus. Ah, YAB now looks pretty ugly. Maybe I'll go get a new layout and perhaps get a paid account...

P.S.S: Thanks to Misaki from Nic's Anime Blog and Syaoron of so near yet fo far for linking to this blog! I appreciate the link! ^^

clannad_8_3.jpg

I realised that I have not made a single post in this blog throughout January. Minus the resolutions for 2008 post which was meant for the whole year round, I had written nothing else regarding animes. Well, I could come up with some excuse, but now that I think of it, the excuse that I'm probably going to be using is "I'm too busy with life". Predictable, eh? I'd just feel ashamed of myself if I were to use that lame excuse again considering that I've used it many times last year. And so, no more excuses. It's better to look forward to the future than and work hard to look behind at the past and be disturbed by it.

The awards of the last two months had failed to take place due to me having some unavoidable activities on the dates of the awards, and therefore, I'm including both the two month's potential winners into this month's awards. Although there are three months, but there'll only be one winner for each award based on their exposure and viewer's acceptance. Clannad, Midori Days and Nodame Cantabile would be the main contenders in this awards. Here it goes:

Best Male Character: Sawamura Seiji (Midori no Hibi) )
Best Female Character: Ibuki Fuko (Clannad) )
Best Villian: None
Best Non-Human Character: None
Best OP: Allegro Cantabile Sound by Suemitsu & The Suemith (Nodame Cantabile) )
Best ED: Dango Daikazoku by Chata (Clannad) )
Best Quote: Under the cut )
Best Scene: Under the cut )
Best Seiyuu: Mai Nakahara )

There goes our Health Minister, being forced to tender his resignation due to a sex scandal - he was videotaped having sex with a "personal friend" of his, but that's off topic. School's starting for me tomorrow so I won't be able to be active online anymore, but that's off topic again. Nevermind.

Oh and yeah, Happy New Year 2008 to all readers of Yamaki's Anime Blog.

What I am supposed to do right now, is to think of a few resolutions for the year 2008, hoping that I can actually achieve them by the end of the year, and that means that I have around 365 days to complete whatever that I have added into the resolutions.
Oh and by the way,I was in camp the last week so I had to cancel the Remedial Anime Awards for December 2007. Let's hope that nothing would happen to me when it comes to the last Saturday of this month so the January 2008 awards can take place.
