Nino and Sho AnAn Interview
I suscribe to a monthly Japanese ladies magazine. The theme of this month's was Men We Like. Two of the guys picked were Nino and Sho. They "interviewed" them about their newest TV show, Yamada Taro Monogatari. And since I was in the mood to practice my Japanese, I translated the interview and scanned the pictures that went with it ^_^ It wasn't much of an interview, just Nino and Sho babbling on for two pages. Which is why we love them ^_^ I posted this in my private journal and a friend suggested I post it here as well. Enjoy!

Idols and Co-stars, What’s between their two faces?

Sho and Nino

Mr. Ninomiya and Mr. Sakurai have been active in Hollywood movies and individually in dramas. Seen from an actor’s stand point, they can’t seem to be able to get much higher! And of course, they have to take their turns in their “Home Ground” of Arashi… Even off stage, these two get along well and can talk in a relaxed fashion with each other. What are their opinions about their first time co-staring in a drama? And what unexpected thing is revealed about another member?

Sho

Nino: Thank you for picking us to be to be in the “Men We Like” rankings. I am happy that it isn’t something like the “Men We Hate”.

Sakurai: You got it there. Right now we are in the middle of working on “Yamada Taro Monogatari”. It’s our first time being Co-stars in a drama series.

Nino: Yeah, you say that, but how we act around each other hasn’t changed, huh?

Sakurai: I remember thinking the first time, “How will I do my drama scenes with a another member from the band?” Nino is completely different and himself in the dressing room and with the staff.

Nino: Because when I return to the dressing room I usually fall completely asleep (laugh). Besides, I like scenes the most. When I see you I think “Ah, now I’ve come to life!” Honestly, you’re so cool, I’m shy around you.

Sakurai: Nino just uses me to play around with! He’s always pretending to imitate me and things!

Nino: It’s true, until now no one has said that I do impersonations. Sakurai Sho and the people I work with are privileged…

Sakurai: If you say that, from now on during a scene people will think “He does impersonations. I want to see~” because you said it!

Nino: During this shooting, he was given a new nickname.

Sakurai: You picked it yourself.

Nino: Mr. Construction Worker

Sakurai: During the first scene when we were in noblemen costumes, my suspender fell off of my shoulder…

Nino: After that, we called him that. “Mr. Construction Worker” but with the same intonation as when saying“Mr. Whatever”. It was a fashion statement, huh? “Mr. Construction Worker”…

Sakurai: It was not a fashion statement! This issue will be on sell in September, right? Ever since the July issue and even during our summer concerts, people have always been calling out “Mr. Construction Worker!”

Nino: Some of our fans had even written Mr. Construction Worker on their uchiwa. (laughs)

Sakurai: This is a dangerous place. Even if there are things like that, well, scenes are still fun. There are a lot of children so everything is very lively.

Nino: The Yamada family’s brothers and sisters have it easy. Taro (Played by Ninomiya) has to take care of them all. He has to work seriously a lot. Since he’s at the age where he just wants to play…(Sympathy)

Sakurai: Because of that, I’m like an old man who does nothing.

Nino: You don’t do anything (laugh). Afterwards, in the dressing room, we had a pizza party. Ms. Tabe Mikako (the actress who plays the homeroom teacher) sponsored it. It was really fun.

Sakurai: Yeah. It was a very “Western” feeling (laugh). I ate the soba noodles all by myself. Anways, now, from morning to night, we’re together. When it ends, we’ll be joined by the three other members of Arashi for concert rehersals… It seems we’ll have to meet everyone every day.

Nino: Even if we meet everyday, I still always mail Leader (Ohno Satoshi).

Sakurai: Are you serious? You two get along very well, huh? Nino and Ohno.

Nino: If we’re counting, I mailed him about 6 times yesterday.

Sakurai: What about?

Nino: Our choreographers, but because they always wear the same brand of jersey! Why do they have the same one we wrote…

Sakurai: (Huge laugh)

Nino: Even if I don’t send mails, I get along well with everyone, I do.

Sakurai: With everyone, just like Mr. Takada Junta, in that funny DVD I watched. You’re both a barrel of laughs. That reminds me, you got me a Wii for my birthday.

Nino: Because you kept saying things like I want it, I want to buy one.

Sakurai: I was getting upset because no matter where I went they weren’t selling them. But Nino knew of a place that sold them…

Nino: Because I’m a gamer and we have connections (grin)

Sakurai: My birthday is in January, but you gave it to me in the middle of December. Thanks to that, I spent the New Year’s lounging around playing it with friends.

Nino: For my birthday in June, you gave me sandals.

Sakurai: Because you were still wearing last year’s shoes. Because I wanted to give you something different and thought it should be something you could really use. Are they too loose? I have some with a different pattern.

Nino: Yeah. You’re very considerate. Truly, the friends in Arashi love each other, huh?

Sakurai: That’s right, huh? So please keep look after me from now on too.

Nino: If you please.
