I'm really curious as to where you got your icon from since it looks exactly like mine. Care to share?

Thank you, it's from Christina's latest MTV Diary. I went on a screencapping spree and did all my icons from with that theme.

Hi, I'm sorry, is that your icon? Someone sent it to me in an email..if I'd have known it was stolen, I wouldnt have used it.

I'd appreciate if you didn't. I've always been one to make icons for others so I wasn't exactly sure why there was a need to take the ones I made for myself. If you do need one to replace I'd be more than willing to make it.

Do me a fav though and make sure said friend who e-mailed it to you knows better?

Oh for heaven's sake, child. YOU CUT OUT A PICTURE. You don't own it. Get over yourself.

Get over yourself.

You might want to try looking in the mirror when you say that. How this is relevant to you is beyond me.

Then take it down and MAKE yourself another one or ask someone (ASK is the key word) to make one for you.

3 days later and it's still in your user info...

I just checked my email for the first time since I responded to this, and I did not even realize that this post was still going strong. For fuck's sake girl, get a damn grip, its just an icon. I didn't steal your icon, I don't really care much about them. My friend loves icons and she thought she hooked me up with a pretty nice one, but if I would've known you were going to have a fucking heart attack about it, I wouldn't have used it. Chill out, trust me whan I say that there are definitely more important things to worry about then who's using an icon.

I'll be removing it for fear that you may actually start to cry or something equally as retarded as going on and on about this. Have a nice day.

Oh Jesus cause it really matters.....

These retarded battles about icons is rediculous. Ooo it's the same icon, if you don't want people using them (stealing them, etc) write your username or initals on it like I have on mine. That way, these things wont happen. Otherwise, your setting yourself up for a stolen icon.

Sorry if I sound a little rude, I just think if it was really that important to you, you would have put a signature mark on it. *shrugs*

It is ridiculous, mostly because I have to sit here asking people why they took something that I created in the first place. But you are right, I should have put my initials on this icon. This set is the first in a really long time that doesn't have my initials on it.

However, what I'm wondering is a. why even if it's "just an icon" is it ok to steal? and b. you care? This has already been resolved with the person in question so it seems that you're just trying to make conflict.

Sorry if I sound a little rude, I just think if it was really that important to you, you would have put a signature mark on it. *shrugs*

It was rude, unfortunately. But then again it does reinforce to me that even though I constantly make icons for others, there's still people who would rather take what's mine.

I know what you mean. I constantly make icons as well, this is also a lesson I have had to deal with. The reason I pressed on with this matter is that in reality it didn't solve anything at all. She still has your icon in her info and is still using it in her community. So in all actuality, I am not trying to make conflict in the least. I am brining into light that really, nothing changed the situation that was originaly at hand.

Sorry, I know I was rude, I apologize, I just get tired of every icon community, etc. I am seeing posts and comments about stolen icons. I don't blame the makers, not at all. I do blame the stealers, but when a name isn't there, how are people to know?

As an icon maker myself, sometimes we don't want to put initials on it. It's text that takes up extra room and can, on occasion, make the icon look like shit.

Then maybe you shouldn't hang around those communities. Or you should just try to deal with those posts and comments.

when a name isn't there, how are people to know?

That's such a Twinkie defense. Why would anyone with even half a brain cell use something they didn't make themselves or specifically take from someone's posted public icons, with permission?

Otherwise, your setting yourself up for a stolen icon.

P.S. "You're" means "you are".

Good, YOU'RE and icon maker. Thats fantastic! As am I. So look we have something in common. I really could care less. The point I was making is people steal icons no matter what. I've learned to deal with this, some of you should too.

I'm assuming the "with permission" part is supposed to be "without permission" and to answer that question, some don't give a shit, and yes I have come across the few who just joined and didn't know that was against the rules. Oh and about the brain cell remark, even if they did only have half a brain cell, that wouldn't matter much, there are thousands more. People don't have just one brain cell. But they do have just one brain, if that is what you meant. Half a brain might have worked there.

P.S - please before you say anything about my grammar, spelling, etc, (which in fact had nothing to do with this argument) you should probably make sure your comment is perfect first, thanks for coming out)

For someone who claims to be 21 in your profile, it's pretty pathetic that you sound like a 12 year old. I'm just sayin'.

And, actually it was supposed to be "with permission". Most people who make icons like others to comment and ask before taking them, unless it's a shared set.

In addition, I DID mean half of one brain cell. I was attempting to make the point that, well, people who steal icons are idiots.

Your spelling and grammar had plenty to do with it, seeing as my point was that you, as well, are an idiot.

Thanks for caring, hug your dingoes.

I'm an idiot now? Oh well, I'm so hurt that someone over the internet feels this way towards me...

Anyway, I don't claim to be 21, I am 21. Not like it should matter to you in the first place. Thanks for checking out my shit though, I'm sure that had everything to do with this as well.

Thanks for wasting my time with your petty comments.

Any time! If you think I'm wasting your time, why do you keep responding?

See, I enjoy antagonizing dumb people. It amuses me to wank, almost as much as it amuses me to see other people wank.

You're only inspiring me to persevere with my own private kerfluffle crusade.

Thank. you. There's a rare occassion I have to do that, but sometime's it's just needed.

Now see, I could have said that. But I'm happier you did.

Thank you for reminding me that there are some completely clueless people out there. Next time I'm out on the street and see something I like that doesn't have something on it saying "do not take"...maybe I should. Or you know not, because it's not. mine.

LOL! Get real. If you don't CUSTOMIZE IT, it's just the equivalent of a picture cut out of a magazine. You don't own it. You can't claim it. You can't keep track of it. Anyone else could make one that looks JUST LIKE IT. And WHO CARES if someone else is using the same PICTURE?

Face it, babe: there are over a million users on LJ and you can't police 'em. Plain unmarked icons are 100% up for grabs. Take your street analogy: I can walk down the street and pick up all the leaves and flowers I want. How the fuck am I supposed to know someone pointed to THAT leaf and said "That one's mine even though it looks like all the others because I picked up up, smoothed it out, and put it there"?

If you don't want 'em stolen, either personalize 'em so anyone else using 'em looks stupid -- or just don't post 'em. Easy as that. Moron.

If you want to be all technical about it, I have customized the picture. Just because I didn't tag it to death with my initals or put some sort of saying on it does not mean I haven't customized.

I could care less if this girl had used the same picture and done whatever she wanted to it. But I've applied filters, cropped, and shrunk until I fixed the picture to what I liked.

Fine, we'll take the street analogy again. Say I applied something (I dunno, bleach or something) to make the leaf lighter. Or even dyed it for that matter. Just because I didn't write my name on it doesn't mean I didn't just do the above things to it.

If you don't want 'em stolen, either personalize 'em so anyone else using 'em looks stupid -- or just don't post 'em. Easy as that. Moron.

Yes, I must be the moron. Because it's not like you jumped into something that doesn't concern you in the slightest bit.

Uh huh...right.

k - how did this all of a sudden get about a stolen icon?

I happen to think it's hilarious when people say "people steal icons, it's gonna happen, chill out about it." - just because someone may say "hey that's my icon." doesn't mean they're sitting there spazzing out..

Unfortunatly, it's a matter of opinion in the case, and no one can be right.

The sad thing is that yes, it does become hilarious after it's all said and done.

But of course if I see someone using an icon I made, especially for myself I'm going to say something about it. No I didn't spaz out, when this happens to me I'm most certainly not spazzing, I just want to know what happened. In this person's case, she tells me a friend of hers sent it to her. Is it right? Well...of course not. I just like to get back to "where" it happened.

I just don't understand why I should go through and tag every. single. icon. I've made with my name. I happen to do that on occassion, but especially with the one in question - it would look like shit if I tried. Believe me, I tried - with close to the 548765143 billion fonts on this damn computer.

But wow, I certainly didn't mean to go off on you like that, my apologies. It's just interesting how any time someone steals an icon from another there's always a quick list of other people to put their two cents in. At least yours was a lot nicer about it.

Lol - I think you misunderstood me hun. I'm on your side in this matter - my point was that when we icon makers (yes I make icons, too) say "can you credit me" or even "that's my icon I don't appreciate you taking it" - someone totally off subject just has to come "save the day" and act like we're the ones spazzing out, when we're not! so I agree with *you* on this one ;)

EVERYONE uses the "oh I got it from a friend, I didn't know" excuse... I think that's quite amusing as well. If someone takes an icon, it's like - admit it, yanno?

I'd like something a little more original, we've heard that excuse time and time again. :-) Which reminds me, she still hasn't taken the thing down yet.

My apologies. I was very rude that day. I know what you mean. I know how it is going through all that work and having someone steal it. Honestly, I had just seen my friends page spammed with "*enter name here* is an icon stealer", when I wrote that. I was just very irritated.

I apologize and I totally know where your coming from.
