Official Pairings Nomination post!
This is it--the official pairings nomination post!

Please comment below with up to 8 pairings you would like to nominate for the fiction exchange this holiday. They might be pairings you're planning on choosing yourself because you'd like to read them--or maybe they're pairings you'd like to write if someone sees them on the list and goes, "Oh, that would be interesting!"

Remember that nominating pairings does not commit you to signing up for the exchange; you've got plenty more time ahead for that. But if you're even thinking possibly about it, please nominate your pairings now to make sure they'll make it to the final eligibility list. You also
don't have to nominate all at once--if you have one or two ideas for now, please feel free to send them in, then add the rest of your nominations later.

Formatting for the nominations should be as: Band Name (Character A full name/Character B full name)

...for a pairing within a single band, or Crossover (Character A full name, Band/Character B full name, Band)

...for a pairing crossing over two bands, or

Crossover (Character A full name, Band/Character B)

...for a crossover involving solo artist(s).

I'll post my nominations below as an example you can follow (what, who me, having my list ready weeks ago? :D). I will also begin updating this post with a list of accepted nominations as they come in, so you can see easily who's on the list already. If something's already on the nominations list, you don't have to request it again! So please check the list over first before sending in your requests.

If you don't have a livejournal account, you can also send me your nominations directly at sidewinder72@earthlink.net, just put "xmas_rocks" somewhere in your subject line.

Now let's get started!

You have until October 11th to submit your nominations!

All approved, natch!

(And yeah, I had a lot of crossover ideas, myself. Maybe because I'm guessing I'm more likely to get someone to take on one of my rarer fandoms/characters if crossed over with someone a bit more popular and "common" in band fandom...)

Hm I seem to have a totally different fandom interest than people here, but oh well, will submit anyway. Tried not to make it too obscure, but cracky.

1. Crossover (Marc Bolan, T.Rex/Ringo Starr, The Beatles)
2. Crossover (Marc Bolan, T.Rex/Billy Idol, Generation X)
3. Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry/Brian Eno)
4. Velvet Underground (Lou Reed/John Cale)
5. Crossover (Brian Eno, Roxy Music/John Cale, Velvet Underground)
6. Crossover (David Bowie/David Sylvian, Japan)

I feel like a complete perv for requesting Roxy Music slash.

I'm going to give you a thumping headache.

I included "also from" information in my nomination list in cases where the people would have worked together in other bands--Trent produced Marilyn Manson and they toured together, Aaron and Jeordie are in NIN but also toured together when Aaron was in The Icarus Line and Jeordie was in A Perfect Circle, etc. On the other hand, for something like NIN(Aaron/Trent), I didn't include "also from" info because as far as I know Aaron didn't have any involvement with Trent while he was in The Icarus Line, so it doesn't seem as pertinent.

It's an incestuous bunch of bands this is, and this list is little more than a sample of it.

Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor / Jeordie White (also from Marilyn Manson))

Nine Inch Nails (Aaron North (also from The Icarus Line) / Jeordie White also from Marilyn Manson, Goon Moon and A Perfect Circle))

Nine Inch Nails (Aaron North / Trent Reznor)

Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor / Richard Patrick)

Crossover (Queens of the Stone Age, Josh Homme / Nine Inch Nails, Jeordie White (also from Goon Moon and A Perfect Circle))

Crossover (Queens of the Stone Age, Troy Van Leeuwen / Nine Inch Nails, Aaron North (also from The Icarus Line))

Crossover (Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nals / Marilyn Manson, Marilyn Manson)

My final nomination is about as a rare as a pairing can get, but I figured hey--why not? Never hurts to put it out there. :)

Crossover (Nine Inch Nails, Jeordie White (also from A Perfect Circle) / Aaron North's heterosexual life partner (...or is he? ;)) and co-owner of the Buddyhead record label, Travis Keller)

Nah, not gonna give me a headache, good to have all the "cross-band" pollination details for anyone who might give a listing a look-see. (I should probably add the same details to a couple of mine, just for completion's sake.)

Any specific requests on settings & story details can be requested after the nominations and sign-ups--just to keep things cleaner and simpler at this point.

Heck, I won't say no. Just trying to exclude out boyband/Britney Spears/teeny-bopper type stuff, you know?

So long as wikipedia says "rock" of some kind, if I'm not familiar with the band, I'll say yes.

Sinal Tap (Nigel Tufnel/David St. Hubbins) (LMAO...NO SRSLY.)

LOL, well, considering I already said no on one fictional character already, I'm going to have to be consistent and say no on this one. Just because it brings up the copyrighted/protected character issue instead of keeping the focus on "real people".

All the others get the OK!

Crossover (Jefferson Airplane/Led Zeppelin)

...and the pairing within these bands you want is...?
You have to be specific.

And again, no specific story/plot suggestions beyond pairings at this point.

1. Crossover (Sid Viciuos/Dee Dee Ramone)
2. Crossover (Alan McGee/Tim Burgess)
3. Crossover (Bernard Sumner/Johnny Marr)
5. Crossover (John Paul Jones/John Densmore)
6. Crossover (Mark Gardener/Nick Jago)

Please include the band each person is in with your nominations, as described in the instructions (yes I know some, but I'm a lazy bastard and don't want to have to wiki if I don't have to.)

1 Guns'n Roses (Slash/Duff)
2 Crossover: (I don't think this has been suggested so far) Avril Lavigne and King Diamond
3 Rammstein (Till/Flake). You can never have enough of that.
4 Guns'n Roses or Velvet Revolver (Matt Sorum/Slash)
5 Crossover (Tommy Lee, apparently still Motley Crüe/Vivian Campbell, Def Leppard)
6 LedZep (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant)
7 Foo Fighters (Taylor Hawkins/ his hand (it's not a human by itself, but at least it's part human))
8 Crossover (Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden/Weird Al Yankovich. He has quite a few rock songs on his records.)

This is going to be so much fun! :D
