The Rules:
You can be both a Giftee and a Gifter.
If you are a Giftee(You want a fic):
-Submit your LJ name and the prompts for your fic-characters, rating, pairing, scenario, etc. List any squicks you may have.
Example Giftee submission:
LJ Name: Fan Doe
Prompt: Mac/Hawkes with chocolate cherries and egg nog. Any rating is good, but smexin' would rock my tube socks.
Squicks: Non-con, watersports, scatplay.
-Once you receive your fic, it would be nice to acknowledge your gifter's effort with a simple, "Thank you," if nothing else. Even if you think it is the fictional equivalent of the wool oven mitt and testicle warmer your Aunt Edna knitted you last Christmas. It's the polite thing to do.
If you are a Gifter(You want to write fic) :
-Submit your LJ name, as well as the types of fic you are willing to write(ratings, pairing, genre). Please list your squicks. If you fail to be exceedingly clear on what you will and will not write and end up with a prompt that makes your eyes bleed, too bad. You should have paid attention.
-Do not ask for multiple fics. If you submit more than one set of prompts, one will be selected for you.
-Please provide an email address to which your assignment can be sent. If you don't want to post it in public, email me.
Example of Gifter Submission:
LJ Name: Ficcer Doe
I Will Write: Any rating/pairing. I prefer angst, but can do smut or fluff. I will not write D/L or Hawkes/telephone
Squicks: Bestiality, torture, slash, enthusiastic phone sex between Hawkes and Cingular.
-You will be given one set of prompts and one set only. Do not ask for more.
-When you submit a fic, remember to do so anonymously. Include the name of the giftee in your headers, as well as spoiler warnings. LJ-cut is your friend and must be used. Failure to do so will result in a warning and removal of the fic if the problem is not resolved.
-Spellcheck and profread your gift. Perfection of the English language isn't necessary, but reading fics in Martian Sanskrit is a bummer.
-IMPORTANT: Do not sign up for the exchange unless you have every intention of finishing a fic. If you know you are a slacker flake, don't waste my time or the time of the person who requested the fic. It's not fair to them. No one wants to find a lump of coal in their fandom stocking.
-If RL circumstances force you to withdraw, please have to decency to say so.
-If you wish to act as a pinch-hitter for those who cannot honor their commitment, say so on your gifter submission form.
Deadlines:
-Sign-ups will be open from September 26 until October 25.
-Prompts will be distributed November 1.
-The submission deadline is December 25th. Fics may be submitted before the deadline, but not after.
-Gifters will be revealed on January 2, 2007. Please do not post your submitted fic elsewhere until January 3rd, 2007.
Word Limits:
There is no maximum. Write Moby Dick for all I care, but your fic must be a one-shot. It can be part of a series, but it must be able to stand on its own. No WIPs. Whatsoever. Not even a ten-chapter magnum opus on how Flack gets naked.
-All fics must be at least 1,000 words. Anything shorter is a drabble.
